How about for digging deck footings? I will be installing a large, multi-tiered deck all the way across the back of the house (probably 1000 SF total). That is going to require many footings. Will a BH dig them as well as a PHD?

I think the main idea to get used to is that operating the lever isn't the same as raising or lowering the hitch. Changing a position control hitch changes the position. In operation a changed position may raise, lower or do nothing to the height of a hitch. Particularly when a hitch is in float, there's no way to tell how far up the lever much be pulled to put the hitch in lift, and the amount of float changes as both the implement and tractor follow the ground contour.

When I first got my scraper I tried some grading. The scraper would try to take bigger bits as it first started up hills. I tried to reduce that by raising the 3ph as I started up a hill--it didn't work very well. What I now realize is that even if there was little float when on the level, the float increased as the tractor started up a hill. Anytime a hitch has float, there's a range where pulling the lever up does nothing. I'd inch the lever up and nothing would happen. By the time I would hit lift, the scraper would already be on the hill and would dump the box. I just don't think a position control hitch is designed for this type of control. I was certainly never able to get good results trying it.

Did you actually get a 30 KW?

And run through the RPM thing again? Is your PTO shaft turning 100 rpm less or your engine running 100 under the rated pto speed?

Tom: here is more info for your fertile mind to plow through. The current system (4115 HST)does have an oil cooler and is astonishingly quick and powerful at lower RPM's.

In fact I am having trouble learning to feather it at any RPM setting and I am constantly slamming it into the stops, especially on the boom swing.

The hoe is made to fit an HST or Gear 41xx. My old 4100 Gear had no provision for external oil cooling and in fact didn't even sport a spin-on hydraulic filter.

So tell me what signal an oil cooler sends to you in this scenario?

Hello, All and HAPPY NEW YEAR!<br>
After I finally settled on a Kubota BX23, I went to look at them. I have about 8 acres, 2 of which is clear, and a 400' driveway to plow. With much tree planting and stump removal to be done, a backhoe is needed. Although it is probably capable of what I need, I am concerned about the BX's ground clearance. Further, the 'Bota dealer wants to steal my trade-in.<br>
I am now looking at Kioti. Hydro is important to me. I am making the trip to PA Monday to look at and operate them. What should I be expecting? Are there any areas of concern in these units? What should I expect to pay for a CK20HST with a KL120 loader and KB1440 backhoe?<br>
I searched the board for information on these and came up with only a handful of posts, mostly glowing. Are these really that good? Should I be concerned about the future avalability of parts?<br>

I was editing photos and forgot I had one with tractor all chained up. Photo # 9

These were built for the R-1s on my old Ford and I did have to ad a few links to each cross link on the rears. They are old throway truck chains with pieces of grader chain and what ever else was handy. Each chain on the rear is well over 100#. I did have some old double rings thrown in on old set but there would have been clearance issues on this tractor.

The fronts are off 9.50X16.5 tires and the extra cross chains were added. All cross chains on front are v-bar for ice. These are a little long and the side chain rubs the tie rod end occasionally. But I keep it greased and push in new more than I really need to. Maybe this year since its all chained up and no where to blow I'll cut the cross links to shorten.

This site has specs for 8 brands including Shibaura. I noticed it states HP is estimated and when comparing it to the link from the Used Dealer in Japan I can see they do not agree. For some reason I better trust the HP numbers from the site in Japan. HINOMOTO, MITSUBISHI, ISEKI, JINMA, TASK MASTER, KUBOTA, YANMAR are the brands listed on the site.

I maintain about a mile of private road for 22 homes. 3 years ago I started putting on calcium chloride for dust control. It pulls moisture out of the air and keeps the road damp. It cuts the dust way down and the road retains its fines. I use 30 bags on the road in late spring and it lasts at least 6 months. I hook a small trailer to my tractor and a broadcaster to my trailer. It spreads very evenly and cost about 12 bucks a bag. I get it from southern states which is our ag store. It's good because unlike oils or cement it will not cake or crust.

Yes, his grapple looks like it would be good at log handling and is probably lighter than mine as well. Mine would be better at brush I think.

The short story of my rollover is that the ground under the left side of the tractor gave way. I wouldn't have been in that position if the R4s hadn't completely plugged with clay and lost traction though. No harm done, to me OR the tractor. Not even a scratch. As it turned over the loader arms contacted a tree which was slowly pushed over, cushioning the tractor as it went over. I have since replaced the R4s with R1s which should be much better in our soft clay.

I have owned a 1994 ,1997,1999,these were gas with 318 engine. got 15 to 16 mpg highway, so I herd about cummins with great fuel milage. so I picked up a new 2001 4x4 quad cab,stock rear put 47000 miles on it all highway ,in 30 months my fuel milage was the same from day one to trade for new 2003 truck. milage was 16 around town the little I drove it in town.highway was18.5 never change also truck was automatic.my 2001 was 215 hp, my new 2003 is 250 hp same everthing and my milage is 19.5 highway at speed of 65mph also same speed as 2001 just a little better.took truck to florida from ny last year and speed was 70 to 80 mph, watch mpg drop at 80 I got 17 t0 17.5 the cummins does not like high speeds for good fuel mpg.the 2003 is 13 months old and have 23000 on it now,still mpg is same from day one. cummins says no brake in needed so I guess thats why both 2001 and 2003 mpg was always the same from day one on.I here about people getting high 20s but I think they must not drive over 45 to 50 on highway . will be looking at the new ho with 325 hp next truck, would like to her some facts on mpg .

I own both, a JM254 and a YM240. I'd never ever consider that much money for a 19hp grey market 2wd. An American version Yanmar would make the decision harder, but I'd take a new Jinma any day over the same size grey market Yanmar.

I just finished a trailer for my PTO gen and need to add a couple more things for cables. Also working on a new wood splitter 8" beam. All made out of scraps from work. They call me a dumpster diver. I call it raiding a treasure chest.<br>

Will get some photos posted asap EDIT 1/1/04 6am post. Photos 5,6,7. Wife got some gold and dimonds for christmas I got a new/used Idealarc DC250 like new. What a difference from my old buzz box. I do need to add ln-7 fluxcore system.
