Pretty good luck noticing and identifying it without having to find it while troubleshooting an electrical problem. Most tractors have a main fuse and mine has a fusible link. Fusible links are tough since they don't look that different from the wiring. I've looked for mine but haven't found it. I think I know which length of wiring harness it has to be buried in if I ever do need to find it.

This is pretty abstract stuff but there's really no simple answer. The simplest way is to see what a manufacturer recommends. If they don't recommend any hoe then it becomes a customer relations issue for them. A 3ph on this or any tractor can tolerate some level of stress and should be capable of tolerating some hoe. The question is how much and the answer should be an engineering assessment.

A 3ph mounted hoe places a variety of stresses on a tractor chassis and traditional tractor design is not the best for these types of stresses. Digging force compresses the top-link and tries to jackknife the tractor at the cases. It's the main source of problems for a 3ph hoe and that stress can be limited by the length of hoe arms and the relief valve pressure.

There are various other stresses and load shocks that have to be managed within a tractor's capacity. Taken together the stresses may result in a hoe that isn't very useful. In addition, even if the chassis is strong, a hoe of any power can move a light tractor around more than it digs. Digging by hand can simply be faster.

My initial question was geared toward improving traction thru the use of additional weight. Many of you have brought up the point of counterbalancing a FEL. A weight box on the 3PH would be more effective, pound for pound, than wheel weights due to the increased distance from the front axle (which would be the pivot point with a FEL). And the point about wheels weight requiring more power to get them going is true though small at the speeds we encounter on our CUTs.

I want to get a spreader for sand, salt, or stone dust or chips for our lane and yard. It will be a 3pth for my TC33D. I was first considering the cone type fertilizer spreader that I see sold under various names (Befco, Harco, etc.,) but when I went to see a local dealer about buying one in his yard, he said for my use, a Herd 750 would be better. He said sand "bridges" and won't flow down to the bottom, but the Herd overcomes this. The Herd is about 3 times the cost, and the agitator I have seen on these cone machines looks agressive enough (about 14 inches long, with rubber wheel on the end) so I'd like to try to get away with the cone type. <br>

Has anyone had experience with either model, for this purpose? Another dealer suggested a Herd M96, but it looks pretty small, and not very heavy duty.

We have some salt mines not to far away and the tractors invloved with it are teh CASE-IH maxuums and the last I know they had exceeded 20,000 hours and not had to come out. They run the 3.9 cummins in those models with a turbo. My thoghts I'd be pulling the base at 10,000 hours and add new rod and main bearings it if the rest is still good.

For the last 12 years I have used my JD 850 (gear), with Bush Hog FEL, JD finish mower, tiller, cultivators, box blade, etc. I grow large vegetable gardens and raise flowers commercially and have a total of four (4) acres. However, when I do a lot of loader work (compost) my left knee (previous injury & surgery) really pains me for days thereafter due to all the clutching. I realize I am going to have to get a hydro transmission tractor and I have been reading a lot about Kubotas and thinking I may change brands. What model Kubota should I choose that would not sacrifice any of the abilities of the JD 850 (traction, pulling power, 3PTH lifting, e.g.)? I would like to add a MMM instead of the rear mount finish mower. What is the largest Kubota that would be feasible to put a MMM on. FEL is necessary too. I have a lot of large flower beds with gently curving borders to mow around. Currently I use a Kubota G1800 (7-8 yrs old) for mowing. Larger Kubota with MMM would be nice to speed up the mowing which we do a couple of times a week in the season.

Thank you..it's a lot of money up front for equipment you want to function properly. For sure. I was thinking that with that Curtis or other loader-arm mounted snow blade, I am getting that snow plow so far out there, that it would be like the "tail wagging the dog" and I would do just as you suggested..slide..and I would also have much less turning radius also..it makes that 2910 pretty long to handle it..in tighter places, near the house and barn. I think I am going to go with the Kubota front blade and learn to put that loader on and off with practice, and forget that front mounted Curtis-type blade..I think it will work better all around. Thanks again for all the help.

I have a 1986 MF 283 bought new in 1987.It has 78 engine H.P., 67 P.T.O HP. It has 1,500 hours on it. The hours are just light shredding and idling splitting firewood. Dual(4 outlet) hydrualics, custom built ROPS. Kept under barn always. The tractor is like new, i even keep the paint on the hood waxed. What is the value of this tractor? Thanks.

When you say 2.5 times as much? I don't mean to pry. I just purchased a TC33D HST w/ FEL and 60" MMM for 19,100 and a good friend of mine really wants to get a CUT, but knows he is not going to get the use I am and just wants someting he can use to do some general work around his 4 acres. He does not want to spend the big bucks. I know he is a Big BIG JD fan and was looking at the 2210, but is afraid of the Limited Cat 1 and the options to Rent attachments. I have mentioned to him the greay market for his needs. But have not look at Prices. What are we looking at ( Ballpark ) for a 25 HP w/ FEL if you don't mind me asking. If this works he can keep his JD Lawn Mower and still have a new toy

Unless they are lemons which only last about two to three years then they normally all go about five years for a model. If they are above average for reliability and performance they will stay a little longer. It's been a good model.

The B-7800 offers a third range which you would be using a grat deal and would allow higher speeds under good power. The BX is large enough to do what you need for the property but might steal a game or two before the landscaping is done.

I only do it a few times a year and 5 minutes from hoe to three point hitch. Kubota pioneered the compact four wheel drive commercial TLB back in the 80's with the B-20, then they built the L-35 and then the B-21 and the L-48. The BX uses a frame much the same as it's bigger brothers but the loader and the backhoe come off that model.

I saw a B2660 on a B7500 once at a dealer and it looked like it might be difficult to attach. It did not look like a quick attach at all.

Is the B2650/B2660 Blower actaully a quick attach? But just looks complicated?
