The Sabre line is not going to be the highest quality mower and Deere knows it. That's why it is priced where it is - to compete with junk you see at Wal-mart, Menards, etc etc. It's going to be hard for you to find a very good quality mower for 3 acres for only $1,000. Dont' get me wrong, you can find $1,000 used mowers out there, but will they be rugged enough for 3 acres? If I were you, and I know I'll hear about it, but I would buy John Deere. Reliability, quality, service, re-sale value, etc, etc. I have a father-in-law that bought a Loews brand (Discount chain) lawn mower that has worked pretty well for him (he's very service minded). However, I dont think he will appreciate a good resale value someday like he would a Deere. My 2 cents.

No Gun involved. I just made an offer of $2500 He said $3000 so we split the difference. What could I do say no thanks? Seriously though, it was a contractor's business liquidation. The dad passed away and the son had to sell off everything by the weekend. The property the tractor was stored on was rented.?

Price maybe OK, but have you shopped around? Reason I ask, the new JD 790, 30 Hp Yanmar vs 33 Hp you are looking at sells for $11,500 and add a 70 loader for about $3,000. Two box blades are worth about $600 and not sure about the seeder. Anyway, just food for thought.

I own Kubota B1700, and am quite impressed with what it will do with 17 horsepower. However, I wonder why all of the compacts, and even some high end garden tractors, are diesel. Diesels seem from what I have read to be more expensive, more costly to repair, less tolerant of impurities which get by the fuel or air filter, and more cantankerous with regard to cold start-up and warm-up. My garden tractor starts up in any weather, and as soon as I feel heat in the cylinder heads I'm off. Kubota recommends a 20-30 minute warmup in cold weather, and sometimes that is longer than the job I have to do. If I had two otherwise identical machines, one my B1700, and the other a B1700 with a 17 horsepower Briggs and Straton gas motor, would they both perform the same? Will the diesel inherently do more or better work, and is that what makes it worth it?? If the only advantage is longevity, I know I could replace the motor in my garden tractor for less than $1000, so I could do that 4 or 5 times before I paid for a small diesel motor.I don't regret my purchase, but I wonder why the market doesn't have an excellent quality, heavy duty, air cooled gas compact to compete with the current crop of diesels.<br>Thanks for educating me,<br>Paul

Thanks for the information. We are leaning toward the MF1235. It seems to have the best balance for price, service and durability. I will post more feedback when we receive our new unit.

I placed my order for a 4400 HST on April 26th. It arrived at the dealer last Thursday, August 19th. I should be getting delivery next Saturday. One problem continues to be the cab. Cozy has not yet declared when they are going to be available for certain. My dealer is trying to get more information since he would prefer to install the cab before initial delivery rather than make a 90 mile roundtrip to retrieve and install the cab at a later date.

Before the 1970's no tractors were manufactured in Pakistan all were imported so Mr. Bhutto who was then Prime Minister of Pakistan ordered that only 4 brands of tractors were to allowed in Pakistan and factories were established, first to assemble and then progresively manufacture comletely these 4 brands of tractors which were 1) Belarus 2) Fiat 3) Ford and 4) Massey Ferguson.<br> Out of these 2 factories were privately owned, those of Belarus and Ford and those of Fiat and Massey Ferguson were owned by govt. The 2 privately owned factories have since shutdown probably due to inefficient management. The govt. owned factories continued to operate some times making profit and some times going into red. The previous goverbment of current Prime Minsister Mr. Nawaz Sharif privitized these 2 govt owned tractor factories so Fiat and Massey Ferguson are now made by priviately owned companys.<br>Alghazi Tractors which makes Fiat brand tractors makes 2 models 480 a 48 HP small sized tractor and 640 a medium sized tractor of 64 HP. Similarly Millat tractors also makes 2 models of Massey Ferguson which are MF240 and MF375, first one being a small 50HP tractor and the other a 78HP tractor.<br>

I would thing long and hard about buying a rental tractor. I rented one before I bought mine. I rented it for eight hours, I used it hard all eight hours trying to get the most out of my money. From the looks of the tractor, everyone else who used the tractor did the same. Don't get in a hurry, post on boards

Teeth will make a difference. In hard heavy clay type or rocky soils teeth on the bucket make a big difference. There are two types available a weld on type or a bolt on tooth bar. Check also for moisture in sediment bowl. As the tractor bounces the water can be sucked up to the filter. When you shut it off it will settle to the bottom & the tractor will run all right for a while.

I just ordered a 4600 yesterday ( expected delivery in 2 weeks ) and nothing about a 4700 was ever mentioned. Are there any other changes besides the horsepower increase ???
