I finally got to run some tests to see if i could understand what's going on with my cooling system. The highest i could get the temperature at the inlet to the thermostat at a fast idle (2000 rpm) was about 168 deg. & that was with blocking off part of the radiator. The thermostat didn't seem to be open as the temp on the outlet side only reached 125. The outside air temp was mid-60's. Other temperatures on the engine varied from 130's to 160's depending on location. The temp guage got no higher than about 1/16" above the 'C' mark & reached that when the temp was around 120's. It sounds to me like the temp guage/sender isn't accurate or is malfunctioning since it didn't seem to respond to the temp increase above 120's. As far as the rest of it, I guess between the outside air temp & the minimal work the engine was doing, it wasn't enough to get the temp to the thermostat setting. I did also see that at lower rpm the engine would start to cool as others have described so evidently it's normal in that regard. So far my use of the tractor has been light work so the temp probably hasn't gotten any higher than what i saw today. That being the case, the tractor never reaches the thermostat temp ('operating' temp). To me, this isn't right that the tractor doesn't reach it's operating temp or do i have this all wrong?? What about you guys that plow snow? Do your machines reach their operating temp in those conditions or do you know??

If I'm not mistaken it is actually a Federal Department of Transportation law that dictates the color of the vessel used to transport the liquid--makes it easier and quicker to determine the flammability threat in case of an accident that involves fire or explosion---makes sense. And there is a fine for being caught using the wrong color vessel.

You may want to ask what size screen they are using.
I would not want anything over 3/4" slotted loam screen.
You will notice a big difference when finish raking.
I quess $12 buck a yard for rich screened field loam isn't
so bad after all. $25-30 a yard OUCH!
If buying buy the ton ,you might want to check those
figures.

I can understand a shop that's booked up with work,The local
dealer I'm refering to has a reputation of being very arrogant. His response to my price quote was "We aren't
going to give them away"? I think he is one of the biggest in Maine but 1400.00 bucks paid for my blower.
I love the look on the salesman face when I go in to buy things, oil change etc. I went out in the shop to ask about the install of
my block heater and there were three mechanics sweeping the
floor at 3:00 in the afternoon. there are at least 15 mechanics in this place, it's huge, JD + Kubota.
I have also been to R.S. Osgoods and Union Farm Equipment
both of which I would highly recommend,no attitude even though I didn't buy there."well maybe we will earn your business" . I asked the owner of Osgoods in Dixfield Me.
about warranty work, "bring it in anytime" no problem.
They have been there since 1930. I can see why.
Unless your limited in the amount of dealers in your area,I
still say it's a bunch of bull. But then again your on the other side of the fence.
It's not my intention to offend all dealer's.

Kubotaguy, got a 224 Jinma(22 Hp 4wd)but not from Nortrac but same machine. Put together from a crate sale. Lots of power, simple to fix if needed(real simple technology). I've had NO problems. Best purchase I've ever made.Would go it again in a heartbeat.Even have a few friends with Kubotas and JD's that after trying out my 224 out now have a different opinion than they used to. They are saying, although the fit/finish leaves much to be desired they are impressed with how it works and performed. Just the truth, Harry Goodwrench

I am always amazed at how the japs (Kubota) can brainwash people into thinking a lighter aluminum tractor is better than cast iron tractors. And they even get more money for them!

The engine in the Kioti 1914, is identical to a so called Kubota engine. I say so called because neither company engineered it, they simply manufacture it after purchasing the rights to do so. The Kubota filter #70000-15241 will fit the Kioti 1914. Most Kioti engines are nearly identical to the engines in Kubota. Kioti didn't steal anything from Kubota any more than Kubota would steal from the Germans! Never ever expect the truth from Kubota!

The toughest thing I ever had to get out of a snow blower was a car tire! It wasn't mounted and never sheared a pin! It took about two hours to cut and pull out!

For sure. We had to move the sucker over a door sill into another room. By turning one set of wheels 90 degrees we could roll it in two directions, but had to lift it anyway.

The 3830 rear is the larger one from it's bigger brother. It will never really be able to get down to the smaller size. I don't know how fast you need it but they do have a priority system for sold orders. What you want in about two weeks from factory if they are there at all. If not ask him how long. We all like to sell what we have in our yard but timing of orders and customers never seem to be to perfect.

I assume that the turbine would help in this problem, but most turbines are quite thirsty. I have a few friends that are flying in New Ginuea with MAF. I would suspect that if anyone knew what to fly in the high alt. and tough conditions it would be them. I think they are flying some Pilatus. A refurbed one is 300K.

I have a small ground driven Millcreek it works great even in snow or frozen ground both are no problem. Much better than the old wheelbarrow and pitchfork method. My neighbor has a small unit from TSC it was similar in price but, much less quality.

I have a 1995 Cadet model 7275. I've never had problems with glow plugs. It usually starts without them until it gets in the teens. I store mine in a dirt floor section of the barn. I think it was just one of those freak situations.

My rule of thumb, for this class of tractor, is a 1 to 1 counter balance for the loader and then add more ballast to counter the proposed load.

Your loader probably weighs at least 500 pounds so that is a good place to start, just for "driving around weight".

For serious loader work you will need an additional 100 pounds of counter weight for each cubic foot of dirt your loader can hold. You can factor maybe 1/2 of the operators weight into the equation as long as you remember to drop the load to the ground before you dismount the tractor.

Small, short coupled tractors have very light rear ends. Seeing is believing..... look at my #8 photo.

Ah ha-mystery solved, and thanks! The fan blades on mine sure enough are flat with the ends bent up. Doesn't take much imagination to see that cupped ones would throw snow a lot further It'd take more HP too which I don't have a lot to spare with my 5' and 24 pto hp. The recommended HP range for the Pronovosts may run higher.
