I got a little long here so I'll comment about operating speeds first. My 1710 is smaller and more nimble than yours and I have 4 reverses. The lowest gives .9 mph, which I use for very deep snows and when I have to maneuver next to buildings etc. The next reverse gives 2-mph and that's generally what I use. The 3rd is just over 4 mph and I'm not willing to concentrate on steering enough to use it most times. <br>

I did a little nosing around in both the Pronovost and Farm King sites, and got a few surprises. The 6' models on both sites I looked at have 24" fans and 540 fan rpm. There were some models I didn't look at. At least one offered 3 or 4 blade options and one or both offered several chute design options. Each offered an option for reducing 1000 rpm input to 540. If fan tip speed is the main factor in throwing distance, it seems like performances may be similar. There may be other factors like chute height and taper. <br>

I think I'd pitch the problem to several manufacturers (maybe through a dealer) and see what ideas come back. I'm guessing that the reducer option would offer the greatest potential for speeding a blower up if necessary. There may be no ratio changes at all in many blower boxes. However, different gear sets likely are available for the reducers, shafts or gears might be swapped or one just might be turned around to turn it in an over-drive.

The one at Tractor Supply sure looks the same. It would be worth taking some measurements to compare the dimensions. I believe that all of the new Deere implements for the 4010 series tractor are IMatch compatable. If you buy non-Deere implements you should check with the place you are purchasing from or take your own measurements.

Check with your local law enforcement agency to see who decals their cars. Many of these agencies have local sign companies make their decals. If you can take a photograph of the decal you want, with a ruler beside it for scale, these shops can make any decal. Usually for a lot less than the dealer can sell it for.

Duker, If you do a search on `work light' there is a lot of general info here. Best to operate auxillary lights thru a relay as the factory wiring for work lights is usually limited to about 70W. Don't overload your charging capability. If you look at my pics you can see my setup.

Thanks for all the advise! A friend said he thinks he can get some generic bearings but also recomended having everything checked out at a shop to make sure it was just a seal and not something more drastic.

Since the problem does lie with the brakes: with the rusting or sticking that has been mentioned, is it the actual brakes that are stuck or is it the linkage that typically is stuck? If it is the linkage what do you recommend to free it and how (seeing that the linkage seems to go into the sides of the pumpkin)? Some form of lubricant? If it is the actual brakes themselves - I'm suspecting that I'm in for a trip to the dealer. Any info is appreciated!

Beware your local dealer for warranty work will check serial number to find out where and when you bought tractor.
This may put you behind dealers loyal customers. Just a thought.

If you buy the iMatch 3pt attachment it will hook to ANY JD iMatch compatible implement. You could put it on a 790 or a Kubota for that matter. Several other manufacturers make similar "quick-attach" systems. You can convert many of your present implements to "iMatch comaptible" by changing the pins.

I am buying a bx2200 and trying to decide which deck is best. Currently trying to sell my b8200E with 60". I finish mow around two acres with about 15 Oaks scattered on it. Other than the 1 guage difference in the shell and 6" width, are there any advantages of one over the other for this model? Thanks<br>

At the risk of ignoring a hint of sarcasim I may have detected, I'll stick my neck out and offer that Chinese tractors are arguably not GREAT, however they are pretty darn good, and the price really IS great!

Seriously, the quality of Chinese tractors, as with most other products from China, is improving as they continue to embrace the world market. That can only be a good thing overall. The factories are responsive to market input and make continuous improvements based on feedback provided.

THe tractors are typically very basic, not as well finished cosmetically and are most often purchased by DIY types who enjoy tinkering with basic, if somewhat outdated, technology. These tractors do work, and are excellent value especially for those who need a tractor only once or twice a week around their place. If you need hydrostat, cup holders and silky smooth paint than these are not for you. Some guys drive Hyundais, others drive Lexus believing you "get what you pay for".

Many dealers, such as myself, stock a good number of parts and as a result a network of parts support exists independent of any factory sponsored or controlled program. Comptetition exists so parts are much less expensive than brands who maintain monopolies on their parts.

These tractors are often as little as half the price of a "name brand" tractor. They may only be 75% as "good", but they are an excellent value for the right buyer.
China is well experienced at building Diesel engines and make more of them than anybody. The basic engineering on these tractors is for the most part sound, with a few minor problems resulting from less than attentive quality control. Once they have been tweeked by an attentive owner or experienced dealer, they can provide hundreds of troublfree hours. Chinese tractor owners do the majority of thier own repairs and utilize the internet a lot to share information. Like our tractors some of us may be a little rough around the edges, but we do have a good time with our toys and that is what it is all about!

Art, this is probably one you can answer or anyone who has experience with both models. Would it be better to go with the 3430 hydro over the 3130 hydro to achieve the same power to the ground and PTO as a GST? Where will I see the difference in HP?

I got the steel one from Tractor Supply that when full of water weighs about a 1,000 pounds. The only down side to the steel one is that the outside is rusting pretty bad and I've only had it for a few years plus it can get dented a little bit running over rocks. When I drain it in the winter I notice a rust colored water coming out. The downside to the polyethelene is they can crack. I went with the steel because I couldn't find the larger rollers in the polyethelene. Mine is a 24" X 48" roller. You could probably make your own with sand or concrete and a drum. I haven't had any problems with anything really sticking to mine and I have used it on wet clay, top soil, and crusher run stone.

Just make it simple,argon for alu. and co2 for steel,if you are going to weld a lot of really thin steel,then you might want to think of some kind of mix,along with a small dia. wire so as to reduce heat input,but if you are just messing around,keep it simple. Richard

I just wanted to know if anybody else has had bad glow plugs in their tractors. I have a Cub 7265 with only 12 hrs. on it and the glow plugs were bad. The tractor started fine in October when the weather was not too cold. Come December and with the temp it the 20s forget about getting this tractor started. The dealer knew right away what the problem was and sent a guy out with new glow plugs. All of the glow plugs had expanded and one had expanded so much it was really difficult to get out! Boy, I hope I don't have this problem again it only took 12 hrs. Does anybody know why this happens and has it happend to anybody else?

Remove the fitting, clean out as much as you can, then spray WD40 in as much as it will absorb. Let it sit a while, put a good fitting back on and grease away.

thanks guys for all the input. for some reason i have green stuck in my head. how different is a 4300 from a 4310? im really leaning towards the 4300 series, its a little bigger than what my father wanted (bx22) and not too big for the farm/barn. ive had some great offers so far but just hesitant to pull the trigger. i guess i just hate to see my account dip that far!!!!!!!
