The newer cars have the second generation bags that deploy a bit slower than the original ones did. My wife said she felt no bruising whatsoever so I expect they work as intended. The airbags were about $2000 of the repair cost.

You're right though, keep the kids and older people in the back seat.

Shortmagnum, don't feel bad, it's one of those diseases which gets us all as we age, this particular one is called "foot-in-mouth" disease.

It is a terrible thing, but luckily like other age-related ailments can be managed effectively, just like CRS and that nasty Hawaiian disease ...... LOL

Don't feel bad, it affects us all at one time or another.

What would be the recommendations for a rotary cutter (bush hog) and box blade for a BX22 sub-compact (22 hp - 16.7 pto).<br>

Rotary Cutter: I am thinking 48" for rotary cutter (king kutter). Any reason to go with 42" for this tractor?<br>

What's this weight thing for a lawn mower?? They can't be to heavy as they will rut up the lawn. When it comes time to trade you might get that vacation time money back. Wasn't to long of a time ago on another site like this I brought it up. Sure did fetch me a bunch of E-mails from people that feel they made a mistake and don't have the money to buy there way out! No offence but you may have the dealer representation needed in your area but others seem to be having a lot of trouble selling theres! If your interested I know they would like to get close to book value if they could. I think that to look at the Kubota as a standard of the compact tractor industry I don't see them lacking in the hydraulics I actually get to see the rest trying to keeping up. To offer the economy tractor is a way for some one to get started with one that otherwise might not be able to afford one. The new financing programs have made the payments reasonable to more households then ever before.

My wifes 1994 Ford Taurus SHO has 140k miles on it and we were faced with putting some money into it or buying a new car. It's hard to find an affordable new car with the kind of performance the SHO has, and my wife really likes this car, so I had a compression and leakdown tests done on it to check out the engine internals. Man-O-man, the compression was 215-225 lbs and leakdown was 5-7% on all cylinders. AWESOME - almost like new. We have run Mobil-1 synthetic oil in it since it's fourth oil change. I continue to be impressed by the performance of these modern synthetic oils.

Jelliot, I was stuck in a depression and couldn't get out. When I finally did manage to get to the top of the hill the soil under the left side of the tractor gave way and I slowly slid left and went over. Turns out the hill I was on was fill from the excavation of our basement and it hadn't been compacted at all. Thank God I had a ROPS and a seatbelt. There wasn't any danger of rolling all the way over since it was stopped by the loader arms contacting a tree. I just rode it out - actually it went over very slowly so I wasn't too scared. After this experience I don't think I'd every drive a non-ROPS tractor though. For all the gory details you should read the long thread "I hate my R4s part II".

Thanks, Tom, that makes some sense. I suppose if the thermostat closed 100% it could cause other problems. Not sure I buy the rarified air theory, but it's worth pondering. I'll have to do more research one of these days.

A few years back Canada got a new law called the Young Offenders Act, it was widely condenmed as too lenient, but it had a few clever twists, the main one being it gave the provinces the right to hold parents accountable for their children's actions no matter how minor.

Ontario has taken full advantage of this, the revised laws which cover all motorized vehicles, allows fines to be levied against the parents of offenders under 18. In the case of repeated or serious offences they can confiscate the vehicle with which the offence took place.

Parents learn REAL fast when they lose a $12,000 toy..

Why don't you try a simple drying unit, force a small amount of the hot dry air coming off the stove up through a hopper of corn similar to the conventional setup we use in an Ag. operation.

If you're only using 60 lbs. a day, you would only need to dry a fairly small amount per day.

Besides during heating season you probably could stand a little extra humididty in the house anyway.

I used to have a corn stove in the shop, it was a Canadian built unit which had a dryer built in, the corn at the bottom of the hopper was dried before the auger could get it to the firebox.

The pellet stove is run on pure wood pelets, we get them a little cheaper than you guys south of us, at the price they are here it's not worth fussing with corn any more. Presently we are paying C$125/ton delivered, that is about US$92.50/ton.

When you post you can have the post send you a message if someone replys. I recalled the earlier discussion and therefore sent you the message. I also posted your reply to the board.
Partridge had his main pump replaced and then they were going to replace the motor as you did. The problem is likely in the control valve system which is connected to the end of the steering wheel rod. Likely a little dirt in one of the valves or some air.
As the system is an add on ie. the original design did not call for hydraulic steering, my brother in-law has a 89. The system is full power steering and not power assist. Therefore the controller at the end of the shaft controls the wheel control and whether the valves are operating correctly. I would suspect that it is now calling for the power to be directed to one side and therefore the wheels are locked over. As the wheel is locked to the side the pressure control valve has opened and this is bleeding pressure from the system making it too weak to lift the wheels.

If you don't mind the mess try 5th lubricant, that stuff will stick to anything and won't come off even if you want it to. If it will stay in place under a loaded semi-trailer it's got to have some serious stickum......

The makers of WD-40 also make another excellent product, although not very weel known, it is called TAL-5. This product is safe for rubber leather and plastic, it uses a different type of formulation and solvent which is not detrimental to these products.

Some of the other grays are discussed here regularly but Iseki's come up rarely and there doesn't seem to be a lot of specific knowledge about them. I haven't heard anything bad about them but then I haven't heard much about them at all.

Some of the grays make fine tractors; they just don't have much dealer service and parts support in N.A. I think they'd be good choices for people who are able to do their own maintenance and don't mind spending time finding parts. I don't know how Iseki fits into this idea but maybe somebody else does. Could be that they're fine tractors but few people know it or find that it's worth risking hit and miss parts and service support if it's needed. Wish I could be of more help.

Chinese tractors may be good choices for people who don't need bells and whistles and put a few hours a year of light work on their tractors. Thinking in terms of total ownership costs is good for evaluating choices. Chinese tractors start off with lower prices but maybe take more parts and service, and the time of finding parts and service should be counted in total ownership costs. They don't break if they aren't used much though. On the other hand, it doesn't take too many parts for a major brand to start sounding like the price of a new 'crate tractor.'

I did end up purchasing the tractor. There are a couple of things that need to be addressed mechanically...slow leak in rear tire, etc. Other than, the tractor seems very tight and runs well. I will be using it to blade snow...so now I have to find a small 3pt blade.
