With good maintenance practices 4,000 - 6,000 hrs. is not unheard of with commercial users. To my knowledge, I don't think these Yanmar engines are sleeved. I would keep running it and ensure all maintenance procedures are met and perhaps changing the oil every 100 hrs. or annually which ever occurs first. Storing the tractor indoors if possible lends a huge helping hand towards extending the life and maintaining its conditon.

Ditto - my wife said she bought the 4310 for me. I got it with e-hydro and she runs it most of the time. I had 64 yards of fill delivered and she spread it during the week while I was at work. The only problem I have is she gets into too many projects and is always tearing things up.

I come home one day and there is a hole on the edge of the woods she dug with the backhoe. I ask her what it's for - she tells me the cat is getting old (16 years) and she wants to be prepared in case the cat dies this winter. I have seen the cat staring into the hole since then. Oh man!

My TC30 (with 40 hrs)hydro pedal now sticks when under load. It will return to center when the clutch is pressed. You can also tap the opposite drive direction to stop. The sticking is in both forward and reverse drive. The linkage is well lubricated and free (returns to neutral with the engine off or no drive load). Any ideas??

I use 3M dry type silicone spray on the rubber of my tractor. It preserves the rubber and leaves a thin layer of silicone which thickens and remains to lubricate and preserve. Works good on auto weather stripping too.

A guy was traveling through Mexico on vacation when, lo and behold, he lost his wallet and all identification.

I WENT TO MY DEALER AND TALKED TO THE HIGH COMMANDERS.THE STOP THEY WELDED ON THE BUCKET THEY DESIGNED THEMSELVES BECAUSE THEY DIDNT HAVE THE CORRECT REDESIGN PART FROM KUBOTA ( I COMPLAINED ABOUT THE LOUSY WELD JOB AND THE ALIGHNMENT OF THE STOP )IF I DIDNT COMPLAIN I WOULD OF NEVER KNOWN KUBOTA HAD A MANUFACTURED STOP TO BE WELDED ON. THEY ARE GOING TO PICK UP THE MACHINE AND REDO THE STOP. THEY DID CHECK THE HYDRALIC PISTONS TO MAKE SURE THEY WERE STRAIGHT AND THEY EXTENDED THE WARRENTIE I YEAR ON THE LOADER. WHAT DO YOU THINK ? You could always cover part of the radiator like they do on big rigs to make it run hotter. I don't know if it makes any sense to do this, and certainly wouldn't recommend it without having some temperature measurement tools, but I thought I'd throw it out there. Of course if you measure the temperature and find it to be normal then it's not an engine temperature issue but instead a gauge issue. That would be irritating.

I also just bought a B7800 w/FEL, HST transmission,foldable ROPS,, R-4 industrial tires for $14,350 and ordered a engine block heater for another $100. Now if I can just find a used backhoe, I will be set.

There's a hill behind my house that is steep enough you can only go straight up or down. I can pull that hill in mid range, at 1,500 RPMs. Peddle to the metal or slow, doesn't matter.

I can put the FEL into a dirt pile and never stall the engine.

No complaints here on the eHydro.

I agree with Art, lots of people get by with just a blade and or FEL for years without any problems.

If however, you get lots of snow and run out of room to push it to, then you have to spend time stacking, moving or just pushing back the banks.

A blower also seems to distribute the snow better so you don't have big icebergs to deal with late in the winter, or tall piles to see around/over.

If you are careful you don't end up with as much debris or gravel on your lawn in the spring.

Replacing regular fluid with synthetic. You cannot easily get all of the old NH 134 fluid out. It is the same fluid in the transmission as well, so you will have residual on the gears and in any cavities in the housing. On the FEL, you can remove the hoses and cycle the cylinder manually to pump out the old fluid. Or, you can just figure that there is going to be some mixed in and leave it there. Personally, I like synthetic engine oil, but I don't think that I would arbitrarily switch to synthetic hydraulic fluid unless the noise is a severe problem.

re: air in the system. The system should be largely self bleeding. Air separates out when fluid is returned to the supply reservoir. I think that the problem that the dealer might want to see could be with an air leak into the system where there should not be one. That would have to be on the intake side of the hydraulic pump. If it was sucking air there somehow, you could never bleed it out, because it would constantly be renewed. (causing foaming)

The power beyond kit provides a constant flow of pressurized fluid anytime the engine is running. It is designed to provide power to any type of rear implement that has it's own control valve(s).

I assume your dump trailer has it's own actuating valve. If it is an open center valve, I think you will be in the dump trailer business.

The rear hydraulic outlet kit has the same connectors as the dual SCV's for your FEL. It looks to me like an alternate outlet for the FEL SCV's

Thats a good investment. I've found that a tool like what you have built is also great for moving bruch after the logs are gone.

I heartily second murphyg's above post, although I will be keeping my 4410. ;-) I have been looking at some orange ZTR mowers and keep going back and forth between the ZD28 and the John Deere 777. I prefer diesel but John Deere has yet to make one. I and some others tease Art about the John Deere thing but I do this in good natured jest and certainly hope it is taken in the good natured spirit it is done with. I have had both Green and Orange and would not be one bit disappointed with either.

A word of caution before you spend the bucks.

The BX has a very narrow slot for the top link to attach to the tractor. I never found an aftermarket cat 1 top link that would fit in the BX slot.

My calibrated eyeball says the hydraulic link in the picture link is too big. Might want to do some measuring first.

You're right on the money as usual Art.

The retail cost of any product is the result of simple mathematics, cost of production plus some profit, add the cost of distribution (physical shipping and distributor's profit margin), add to that the dealer's profit and you have retail price.

There used to be quite a few 'custom' front-mounted blowers around here. They were conventional 3pth models mounted on a long tongue which plugged into the drawbar socket and was lifted by a cable system. The cable went from the tongue up over the front harness, back down to the tongue and to the rear where it went through a pulley and up to the 3pth. When the 3pth was raised it pulled the cable and the blower went up. Drive was a pipe shaft which ran in carrier bearings mounted on the tongue and was chain driven from the pto.

A lot of farmers made their own based on this concept.

There were also quite a few which were hydraulically powered from a pump hanging off the pto shaft, these were usually a little weak in performance but were less fuss to fabricate.

Glenn-D, it's NOT sheet metal screws, they give you flat tires. It's carbide studs for ice racing, they use them for motorcycles and rally cars. They use them on the road (gravel only) in Scandanavia all winter. They are so popular that Nokia tires are all designed with little dimples to show you where to put them even.

We've used them for years on turf's and never had a single flat yet, they aren't as long and the tip is not as pointy but they have VERY deep threads to help them stay in place, on ice chains don't even come close to the traction these give you.
