I guess I admitted to being crotchety, but I'm really curious if there's a good engineering reason for the sump in a racor filter funnel. I don't mean to dump on it though - I like the product, use it all the time, and would buy another if mine were lost or damaged.

I've been collecting antique ads and sales brochures for the Farmall C. Recently got a 30 page sales brochure featuring the Super C and Fast-Hitch. Half of it is devoted to how the FH works, and has pictures of all of the factory available implements and of the factory 3ph conversion attachment.

Getting that brochure was a mistake.

I have the fever for a new, 1953 Super C with Fast Hitch!

Of course the Farmall guys on Yesterday's Tractors think that the FH is better than a 3ph, but they may have a somewhat biased opinion.

The XS is the updated model 3054.
The shifter has been moved from between your legs to the left side of the steering wheel on the dash.
The exaust system has been moved to under the hood and exits near the left front wheel.

AFAIK, the JD technical manual is the ONLY publication. I haven't seen a 650 tech manual, but the 4210/4310/4410 manual is over 800 pages of good information.

Does anyone make a complete hydraulic top link kit? I asked my Kubota dealer and he said they didn't carry any such thing. I would like to add a hydraulic top link to my BX1500. I can get the manifold block and I am assuming that I can get the right valve and control lever to fit in the opening in the fender, but I'm having trouble finding the actual cylinder with the appropriate ends to accomodate 3/4" pins.

My neighbor just finished logging about 35 acres and said to come and cut all I wanted of the tree tops left. There are some mighty big tree tops and pieces left and I will have my work cut out for me.

It's a toss up, in some cases a little down-pressure is required but the trick is to have the bucket angled down about 25 degrees, the weight of the loader itself, combined with the weight of the snow in the bucket seems to keep it down pretty well.

Excellent service from Lake and Air. I ordered an F3C (five inch diameter, 3+ gpm flow, conductive plastic) funnel from them via the Internet late on Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Tuesday 10:00 AM the FedEx truck pulled up with my funnel. According to the credit card receipt, the order was filled about 8:30 AM on Friday after Thanksgiving. Very prompt service over a long holiday weekend, I think! $16 + $5.50 shipping.

The dealer was out yesterday to make a small adjustment on my new BX-23, and I showed it to him. He's thinking of looking into stocking them.

I know exactly what you mean about the Tim Allen syndrome. I had a B-7200 and decided I wanted a FEL. The 7200 didn't have power steering so I decided to go with a new tractor. I started looking at the 7500's, then looked at the 2410, then said for only a little more I could get a 2710 (7800's weren't out then), but for a little more I could get the L-3010. Before I realized it, I had all ready doubled what my budget was (as the tractor size increases so do the costs of implements). Then my wife brought me back to reality which is about the time the 7800 came out. Then deciding between the 7500 & 7800 was tough. I'm glad that they didn't have the 7610 out then or I'd still be weighing pro's and con's!!!!

Ahhh, another problem we in the great frozen white north don't have to worry about.

Now if we can just teach the deer to use cross-walks we'll be fine.

One of the boys killed another one last night while on his way to do the rounds with the spray rig, that's four this year, 1,000 gallons out back reduces braking ability significantly. Luckily he had the plow on so there was no damage to the truck. Lots of fresh venison though.

I guess it's a gas engine, which should say that I have no familiarity with the tractor either. But then engines are engines and many mechanics would have a go even if they've never worked on one or have a manual.

Off hand I'd guess something in the ignition system is causing the problem. You might say if it's a magneto or conventional coil/breaker type. There's plenty of general experience around here.

Tom: I think there may be some corporate logic that you're encountering and if so the logic may not make sense to an owner. Warranties are for repairing premature part failures. It sounds like you experienced a design problem. Design problems when acknowledged usually are handled by a fix that all owners are eligible for. Maybe there's reluctance or maybe the warrantee people don't talk to the CR people. There's a possibility that you problem is in the wrong part of the corporate apparatus--not that I'm certain there's a right part.

I was wondering how hoses (I guess cylinder hoses) blew in the first place. Burst pressures often are above pump cut-off pressures, and valves often have circuit relief valves. Don't know but I'm not sure how a bucket that rolled back too far would burst a hose. For the dent, cylinders often have internal stops and if they don't, you'd think there'd be an external stop of the sort added to prevent the problem from happening. Could be other things going on but the whole thing doesn't sound right. You might inquire around to see if the manufacturer has a solution other than their warranty program.

I recently bought a 2003 7500 hst,great little tractor!!
Good luck with yours. I think you will be happy with the
bigger wheels, as opposed to the bx.
I put a block heater on mine as I'm in Maine blowing snow,
seems to make starting a lot easier on the machine.
