I'm in the process now of getting one for my 7800. The agent is suppose to be writing it up for me. I didn't understand the 30 HP rule either, but that's what they told me. Insurance companies are putting in so many exclusions in their policies, I'm not really sure what the purpose of it is anymore. When I bought my little girl a trampoline, I had to get the netting (I was going to buy it anyway) or they would write an exclusion for it.

Try spraying the inside of the bucket with 3M Solid Film Lubricant. It needs 24 hrs. to cure but holds up well and is pretty much impervious to anything sticking to it.

Have you used one of these before? I was wondering how strong they were and if they could be used to pull out smaller trees as well as bushes or hedges. It does look very handy and at a real nice price. Thanks for the link.

pyarbro, any news on the thumping noise coming from the rear drive? Have you tried to narrow down the probably area the noise is coming from with a mechanic's stethoscope?

I have a 4100 HST with a 410 FEL and 61" bucket and have
had no problems......I have yet to have it be unable
to pick up what I attempting to lift.....of course,
I do have the JD ballast box filled with concrete, but
so far so good........I have moved snow, bark mulch and loam
that was very wet with no problems....I have even ripped up
asphault without a toothbar and it was a piece of cake :-)

I forgot to mention the slip clutch run in procedure. Depending on how long the tiller you are purchasing has been setting outside (if it has). The slip clutch can become rusty and not properly slip when needed if not run in. Review the procedure in your owner's manual. Basically is it more or less releasing the plate pressure and running the pto allowing the clutch pack to slip and wear in the rust or corrosion. It is important especially if you are going to till soil that has not been tilled for long periods of time or lots of rocks.

I agree with you on the 2210. It is not a bad tractor but it is more akin to a large garden tractor with CUT hp. I think you would be better served by the 4110 or 4115. Depending on the the features you want the 790 would be worth a look too. I have the rim guard filled tires and find that I don't have problems with compaction or leaving tracks unles it is very wet and the ground in soft. I think anything would leave tracks then.

Murf, I got a chance to try out my grapple yesterday. I was able to attach the lower arms to the FEL lift arms without drilling or welding to them. The lower arms point almost straight down when you drop the loader to pick up a log so the upper and lower arms are in front of and behind the log respectively when you clamp down (you don't have to get a fork under the log). Even at the highest lift there is still a slight downward angle so the log will roll off onto the pile when you open the grapple. I wish I could post a drawing, it would be easier to describe.

I cut about 15 spruce trees yesterday with base diameters ranging from 7 to 14 inches. I would yank them out of the woods, limb them at the landing and pile them there. I could then grab the tops and branches and push them out of the way. I wasn't necessarily efficient yesterday, but I should get better now that the technique is down.

Unless I got my arithmetic wrong, I'm guessing that a 10,000 W generator has a 40A/240V main breaker. Most well pump circuits have 20A/240V breakers but many pumps are rated well below the breaker protection. Mine ran fine on a 15A circuit. Unless you've got quite a pump it's safe to say a 10,000W generator would run the pump and a few not quite so small things as well. My 6,500W-peak standalone pretty much runs the house as we use it less the hot water heater but I do have to juggle circuits a bit.<br>

You might want to estimate a fixed load requirement for lighting etc. and then add up the peak requirements of all electric motors you want to run (Using circuit breaker size as a proxy for peak load is very conservative). If the fixed load plus total peak load is under 10,000W then it should be fine, otherwise some things should be shut down while others are running. You also might add the continuous load requirements for motors to the fixed load to ensure the demand doesn't exceed the generator's continuous rating. You might look at a generator's duty-cycle rating, but unless you're running a flock of electric motors that turn on and off frequently it's probably not much of an issue.

Something else to consider. If you plan on a canopy, look at head room. I am about 6'5" and have an older JD950 (27 pto hp). I have very little head clearance to the canopy. If I am not careful, going over bumpy area I sometimes bounce up and bump my head on the canopy frame. I have turned down the tension on my suspension seat to set a little lower.

The BX1500 with 54" MMM is perfect for your application. You'll love it! I have one for about 2-1/2 acres and it reduced my mowing time by 1/2 over my old Wheel Horse. $8600 is a great price. I paid $9K for mine with a 54" mower.

There is only one adjustment on my Ford and decreasing the control rod length decreases free play. The adjustment reduces free play on the loosest brake first. It's sort of self-equalizing. No guarantee your Long works like that though. You might try shortening the rod a lot unless you're certain that lengthening it decreases free-play.

I wasn't aware the MX5000 Kubota and the 5105 Deere were equals or comparables are they? Many people appreciate the syncros that some companies have used for years. They help to reduce the chance of gear grinding by helping to align the gears for you while shifting.

I'd say that little hunk of tube should be there to keep stuff out! I often like to check the small details and I'd have to get to the books to take a look. Normally they flow in the way the lever is pointed to flow.
