After test driving ALL the blues, greens and oranges, I went with the Kubota. Not to say that JD and NH are not good tractors, they are. I just like the Kubota better. I had orig. ordered a new 4000 series JD, then test drove the new Grand L series Kubota, and canceled the Deere order. Its true the Deere loader is easer to remove and install but the Kubota loader has more capacity than the Deere or the NH. As far as the hydro pedel, mine has the same pressure from slow to fast. And yes I too use my turn breaks. Just set the cruse on slow and use the breaks, no big deal. You can do this on a NH also as long as you are turning right, the left break disengages the cruse. The Deere cruse is better than mine but Kubota cruse is functional, and I use it all the time. Also my Kubota has NOT been recalled for hydro trans. problems, hard to push hydro pedels, tires rubbing while turning..... <br>Best of luck in your decision<br>Kevin<br>

Hello! <br>I need to obtain the min/max/normal wheel tread settings for a Kubota DT185 tractor, so I can estimate some implement coverages (wheel track cover, etc.). Does anyone have this data quickly on hand? I've had no luck in finding an overall spec sheet for this old unit online.<br>Also interested in the gross weight of this tractor, if anyone has that data as well (bare tractor or tractor plus loader).<br>Thanks for any help!

You are so right about that.. Exactly what you said about Wal-Mart is why I don't ever shop at Wal-Mart. I want quaulity!!! Not some cheap knock off I find at Wal-Mart. I hate everything about Wal-Mart. I support the guys that are disappearing.. the people, the Pros that can really help me, and sell me quaulity items.. I don't go for the White Trash Magnet named Wal-Mart. You are the first person I have ever seen sum up what I have been trying to say to people about skimping on price vs. quaulity.. I buy Macintosh Computers, why? Quaulity! they are superior machines to PC's that people tend to just put up with because they saved a few lousy hundred dollars. I buy John Deere, because I know I want a machine that is engineered and easier to use and work on than a Kubota..<br>thanks<br>Jason

The new B2710 replaces the B2150 in 1999. The B2150 is a great machine. You should look at Carver Kubota for current prices, but if you bought the B2710 today with the loader and BH you would be over 20K today. Hope that gives you a perspective of what the equipment you are looking at is worth.<br>

What's the difference in the different model numbers on JD compact tractors?<br>I have an 870. How does it differ from an 850 or 855? I'm sure there must be some particulars that are common between the models like 800's, 900's and the 1000 series. You can tell I'm new to this. I just bought the JD and it's 41 years newer than my old 2N. I've been missing out on alot of features for several years?<br>Thanks

Kubota is an excellent tractor. However, just hope you dont need parts or service work. Parts prices are extremely high and its hard to obtain service from my local dealer. Deere's are also excellent tractors, but at least I can depend on service after the sale with them (i.e. parts products, service work, etc)

Ouch! Didnt realize there was that much price difference with Turfs, the dealer actually showed me it would be cheaper to buy the tires and rims than to purchase seperately.I guess 1000.00 is pretty decent after all. Thanks.

I have been pleasantly surprised with the quality of cut from my rotary cutter (Rhino SE5 - 5'). No, it doesn't look like a golf course or even a well kept yard. But my field grass looks even and freshly cut.<br>A finish mower is ONLY good for lawn grasses. Mine really sucks for coarse or tall weeds. However its cuts bermuda beautifully. The rotary cutter doesn't leave anything standing, including saplings and brush. I haven't sharpened mine since I got it and it still cuts fine. As a matter of fact it wasn't super sharp when I got it.<br>I think bottom line is, if you want it to look like a freshly mown field, go for the rotary cutter, but if you want it to look like a lawn or golf course go for the finish mower. I have both and use both.<br>My original plan was to mow my field a few times with the rotary cutter and then start mowing with the finish mower. I have decided to stick with the rotary cutter because I like the way the field looks, and I don't have to mow as often as it doesn't bog down on thick or tall grass. I use the finish mower only on what I have previously been mowing with a riding mower.
