AV: Your description is fine and I understood it as Art did. The blower lift has to float. The rest of my blab was just fluff.

My curiosity is that in 3ph blowers the blade attack is adjusted by the top-link--shorter pulls the blade off the ground. That way it may not take up all the snow but it also doesn't pick up as many stones from gravel drives early in the season. I don't know how the front to back tilt is adjusted on a front blower.

I was thinking that 3ph's are fairly self-leveling as they lift but most loaders aren't. I don't know if that would cause a problem clearing snow for example on drives that have sizable hills in them. If it did I was thinking that since there is a dump valve for the loader maybe it could be used for something useful.

Techs do blow it from time to time. My used tractor came with the bucket and lift lines reversed but there is a slight chance that the previous owner had them like that for haying. A floating bucket is a curiosity.

Or you could get the BX and save some more money and buy the number one sub-compact in the country-- they truely are nearly the same size as the x-series.

I got a real strobe type flasher to replace the cheapo box store one I've been using. With the blue lens (for snow plows here) it should be real good for getting winter to pull over. Now the problem will be to put another plug in my aux lighting circuit to run Murf's suggestion of a snowmobile helmet with a heated visor. I intend to be a snug plower this year whether winter's arrested or not. Well, snug as can be without a cab.

If you are removing the loader for the blade you could use the valve you have on the tractor.

Sometimes things that seem hopeless can be repaired. If you haven't already checked out the possibility I'd ask a dealer who does that type of work in your area and take the head to them. That type of work isn't cheap but neither are heads and it might take a bunch of time and aggravation to find one.

DK35Vince is correct, this model is JINMA. Agracat was one of the pioneers of bringing the JINMA tractors in, Jinmas are now sold by dozens of importers, large & small. I sell the Farm PRo version of this tractor and we are getting very good feedback and only a few warranty issues, but these tractors do take a bit of tinkering now and then. They are ideal for someone who will use a tractor 50-100 hours per year and does not want to tie up $xx,xxx for that limited use. They are basic tractors, sliding gear trans, no shuttle shift(yet, coming soon on some models).

Dealer support is more critical on these tractors than say a KIOTI or KUBOTA. It seems this is a liquidation deal and since your seller is a "wholesaler" you might find out where you would have to bring it for service. Are you getting the new machine warranty? I do know that current Agracat tractors have different fiberglass so this seems to be an "out of date" model. Some of the older versions of the JINMA had the power steering cylinder mounted on the side of the tractor (it is now along the axle). These have been known to break steering arms when used with a loader under certain conditions so that might be something to check out.
Also if you have a Farm PRo or JINMA dealer near you, you might want to visit with them, could be you could get a new unit from a "retail" dealer for just a bit more.

Sounds like reasonably good advice. Gauges are cheap but the special fitting needed to pressure my PS is very expensive. I probably have low pressure as well but the problems isn't so bad to cause me to fabricate a fitting and the tractor hasn't been back to the dealer. There is the small risk that the pressure is OK but the steering is binding and increasing the pressure would just compensate for something that needs to be replaced.

In theory that possibility could be checked by listening to the engine while the turning the steering while the tractor is sitting. You should hear the engine throttle up a bit to carry the PS load. If the front is lifted with the loader and the steering tried again the engine should load up less unless the steering is binding. But as I say, that's theory.

If your PS line goes into the sector like my 1710 rather than to cylinders there may be a steering adjustment issue. My 1710 owner's manual describes the adjustment but doesn't mention that the engine is support to be running. The repair manual says the engine should be running and the repair manual is right.

I think what TomG was referring to is that when you PUSH with the bottom of the bucket perpendicular to the ground, the forward force will try to move the bucket cylinder out (extend). This puts an unknown (and unprotected by relief valve) amount of pressure on the rod seals. If you PULL (scrape), the force is the other way around and does directly affect the bucket cylinder rod seals.

The lift arm cylinders are loaded in the opposite direction but because of their angle, the negative effect is not nearly as pronounced.

I would get to know your local JD dealers first in your area. They most likely have something or know of someone selling. At least you can somewhat trust the people you are then dealing with. I found my machine by dealer referral, I lucked out I guess..

I forgot to mention that my snowblower is a FRONT MOUNT and I need about 4 inches extra because the transfer case on the rear pto hits the front of the JD I-MATCH 3 pt ballast box. I use sand in my box and I can adjust the weight. If I find longer arms I can reduce the weight to adjust the set up.

I used the R1's today to do a little work. Thumbs up so far! These have the aggressive bar angle that Art recommended. Went up and down a few sticky clay hills with no troubles at all. The bar lugs sure don't plug up as badly as the R4s but, as expected, they leave DEEP tracks. It seems like we've had 40 days and 40 nights of rain and snow recently and the ground is so soft that any wind in the 20mph range is blowing down trees.

An adjustable top hook wouldn't have fixed this problem. I'd like loader forks but they simply won't lift the load that the 3ph will (1000 lbs light).

Could build your own adapter. I bought the connection parts for my 460 loader from my JD dealer. The two bottom posts, top straps etc. Cheaper to by these perfect fit pieces than to fabricate your own. Just weld 'em to your own 3-point frame. A quick hitch would work nicely here (with a few other parts).

Many thanks to all. I've had some private emails with Art and especially appreciate his input and wisdom. I wish his place was a little closer, I'd love to do some business with him. Basically I agree with all of you, I think the 12K is steap for what is there.

This just in!! A dealer (wholesaler) just called me and has a new AgraCat 2920 (25hp) 4x4w/FEL and the usual stuff (NO HST but I think I can live with a manual). Look here for more info:

Price is $8500 at my door. I know this is an "off brand" and I haven't even seen it mentioned anywhere. Anyone know about them. My thinking is that for $4 or $5K I can take some chances. This isn't a pig-in-a-poke, he has one I can test drive and run around the lot in.
