Funny you mention no radio headphones. Iwas going to gett hem, but I do feel uncomfortable being totally cut off from my surroundings.

Sounds like you have some nice toys, small but still with 40hp is a nice machine for most of us.

"Why not just remove the pto shaft completely, unbolt the 3pth tower, fold it flat against the hosing and then just stand it on end against the wall for the winter?

Then it only takes up a foot of space and is protected from the elements till spring."

I thought about it but I don't have a real good way of securing it. I could rif something. Even though I am USUALLY the only one in the garage, I would hate to think of a 500-6000lbs cutter falling on my wife or kids.

I may still do it the problem is there are cabinets on the only open wall and it's tough to get to the beams for anchors.

Sounds like a scam to me too. I've heard of a number of tractor scams on eBay that sound just like this.

Yearly brake fluid changes are a bit excessive but I'd sure recommend doing it at least every three years. The moisture in brake systems will rapidly pit your calipers, wheel cylinders, etc. and changing the fluid is a lot cheaper than replacing those parts. I became a believer after working as a brake mechanic for a couple of years.

With R4s I got stuck in wet clay soil and nearly got stuck in dry clay soil. But they looked good. The jury is still out on the R1s though - haven't had enough seat time with them to tell.

I'm trying to figure out the weight of my B-7800 with FEL and anti-freeze in the R-4 tires. I've seen estimates around 3000 pounds, but that seemed quite high since the tractor itself only weighs about 1700 pounds.

I guess every state is a little different. I bought my tractor in Arkansas but the UCC was filed with the county of which I live, in Oklahoma.

I do agree though. In a case like yours, it would make it almost impossible for the everyday Joe to find out if you had a UCC filed on your tractor. I know I can call the county corthouse and find out if so-and-so has a UCC filed on a perticular item.

I have a 1987 JD 855 with the original Goodyear turf tires. One front one has a slow leak that has been repaired a couple of times without complete success so time to replace the tires. Problem is, Goodyear no longer makes the Soft Trac 23-8.50-12 front tires. I would have to use a Titan or Carisle brand as a replacement. My 855 is 4WD and the original Goodyear front is a short 23" tire, measures about 21", and I want to be careful about matching front to rear diam. ratios. I would like to keep matching brand and wear front and back. Of course neither Titan or Carisle makes a matching rear tire or 33-12.5-15, but of course Goodyear does. The only solution I have found so far is to replace the front rims with JD 14" and use Titan Multi Trac in 25-8.5-14 fronts and 36-13.5-15 rears. This combination will work fine and was the standard tire sizes for the later JD 855 (after 1990?) The problem with this solution is it is real expensive and it changes the tractor. It is fine the way it was made. Anyone know of a source for replacement tires in the stock sizes?

Thanx all. And Harvey, great idea. As to the expense, well, it's for the kids after all. You hit the nail on the head: I do not plan to drag the kids behind the tractor, though that's been done before. I just wanted to figure out how to rig a rope tow like we all had on small ski hills that worked off the PTO.

Hello, I just joined this website today in my quest for as much information I could gather before I buy my first tractor. I have looked at many brands and I think I have it narrowed down to the Kioti CK20 HST, Kubota B7500 and the AGCO ST25. So far from what I have read on this thread is somewhat disturbing regarding the potential service problems I may encounter on a Kioti from my local dealer. I would love to buy a Kioti CK20 HST from my local dealer which is 25 miles from me, nice folks but very high prices. I have received a quote from a dealer 2 states away which was much, much lower. Here they are:

Kioti CK20 HST, Kioti 60"MMM, Kioti FEL, Kioti box scraper with rippers.

local dealer: $16,650
out of state dealer: $13,589

freight and sales tax are a wash

A $3,061 difference!!! So I am supposed to fork over more than 3 grand so I can be first in line for warranty work! If the diff was a few hundred bucks, ok, I'll pay it. But 3 grand ain't worth it to be first in line.

There are 2 other Kioti dealers that are 30 and 33 miles from my home. One of them said he is phasing Kioti out since he picked up the AGCO tractor and compact tractor lines and the other does not keep Kioti tractors in inventory. They are obviously not committed to selling Kioti and I doubt servicing Kioti tractors is very high on their priority list either.

From what I can tell the Kioti looks like a very well made tractor and I think the CK20 HST would be perfect for my 5 acres of lawn, woods and trails (3 acres to mow)but from what I have read here, in this forum, I may have to reconsider the Kioti. I either fork over Kubota money (I got a quote for 15,950 for a B7500, 60"MMM, FEL, box scrapper, hydro from a local kubota dealer) or get a great out of state price on the Kioti and get potentially lousy service from my local Kioti dealer because I didn't fork over another 3 grand to him.

Wow, first time I've heard that one. The seat on the BX is way too complicated to try to re-engineer for a petite operator.

Do you have any hiking boots? I have some machines that I can fit into with running shoes that become uncomfortable with boots just because of that extra inch of sole. Maybe that inch would help you out.

Or maybe an extra cushion velcro'd to the back of the seat would help.

You bought a very good and capable machine. It does have to best "touch" I have experienced so far on a backhoe.

Larry: I dont recall the size of the bolt You can always pull out another one and take it to a fastner supply, which I recommend in order to get the proper Grade. The dealer charges alot for bolts.

Another way to get high cylinder pressures is using the bucket like a dozer. With the spooling valves closed oil is trapped in the cylinders and lines and circuit relief valves usually provide protection. The pressure settings for these valves may be much higher than the system relief setting. Using a loader for a dozer would tend to affect the bucket cylinder pressers more than the lift cylinders but it's still an issue. It's also pretty easy to break a loader frame doing that if the bucket is extended much.

Somewhere in your owners manual it will tell you how many engine rpm's equal 540 pto rpm's.

If there is no manual with your tractor I bet someone here can give you the numbers.

Many older farm tractors did have front takeoffs used mostly for front pumps. There's a good chance the shaft is intended for a front pump and maybe somebody knows the specs. If you're looking to mount something, take off shafts are fairly standard. Japanese and N.A. manufacturers tended to use the same ones and not too many different types are around. There's a good chance a front pump that would mount could be found.

I have also been considering a 3PH hoe for my 3130 and have heard all the talk about the advantages of having a subframe that ties the undercarraige together so the stress of the hoe doesnt pull the tractor apart. The HD loader (L723) on the Grand Ls come with a framework that ties the loader subframe into the rear axle. Would this accomplish the same thing? Is there a weakness in the design of the Grand Ls that they need the extra support of this frame or does the frame actually make them marginally stronger than other tractors without it? I hope it makes them stronger because that was one of the things that I liked about the Grand L when I bought it.
