Almost all our machines now are full cab & A/C.

We haven't been able to notice a difference yet.

The cab and heater are requirements now for snow removal up here and the A/c is now required for summer operation because of the cab creating het build-up. Most of the operators preferred open station machines and didn't want a cab at first, now if you ask them which they prefer and why they say the cab, because they like the RADIO, go figure.....

Tom, trust me, get a snowmobile helmet with a heated visor, after 10 minutes you'll wonder how you ever did it before you got the helmet.

Personally, I'm lucky, the glasses are still only for detail work & reading so they stay next to my chair & relatively clean. Usually the only thing I have to clean off them is dog tongue & nose prints.

My mother however swears by using a mild solution of Jet-Dry, the stuff you're supposed to put in your dishawasher every month, and water in a spray bottle. Run the glasses under warm water & clean them off, then run them under straight hot water for a minute, then spray them and let them stand for a couple of minutes. They dry very quickly with no water spots or lint and they seem to stay dust-free.

I'm guessing that the seller figured out that the asking price was low and maybe the guy did owe the FIL some money so they called it a lean but probably wasn't. May have missed a good deal but then it wouldn't have been fun to have somebody show up looking for a bunch of money or the tractor and a seller who's competence may be questionable. Sounds like a deal to stay well clear of.

The lean mentioned probably is outstanding financing or other debt and not a formal lean. Tractors can get formal leans on them if used commercially and there's disagreement about a job. Bonding is supposed to cover this sort of stuff but sometimes doesn't. There's an old discussion in the archives where a guy sub-contracted himself and equipment. The contractor got into a disagreement with a municipality, which impounded his entire equipment lot--including the sub-contractor's equipment. He was shut down for weeks going through legal stuff trying to get his equipment out of the lot.

I had seen the ballast #'s in the manual before I even put the loader on the tractor. I just didn't realize how true they were. Many times manuals will say things that aren't absolutely neccesary in the interest of safety. For example many european car owners manuals say change your brake fluid once a year...how many of us do that and the brakes continue to work fine 10 years later. Now I realize the ballast numbers are not a suggestion but rather a neccesity. I used the tractor extensively on Sunday and borrowed my buddys ballast box and had no problems at all. I was amazed at the tractors ability to go in the deep mud with no problems. The mud was up past the side walls of the tires and slopping onto the rims and the tractor just went. Horsepower didn't seem to be an issue at all either. Thanks all for your help.

Sounds like 29's may have the same TX's as my 1710 plus it had HST, which wasn't an option. The optional 1710 TX provided not only live pto but also three synchromesh speeds plus reverse in each of four ranges. The optional TX was a very good option--especially for anybody doing loader work.

I'm just curious how the ballast box mounts. I think of them as 3ph mounts but so are blowers. Longer 3ph arms probably could be done fairly easily. The load would be further back, which would decrease the lift capacity. Sometimes I've wanted more weight on the rear than a 3ph I was using so something like a large toolbox might be a good idea. However, the weight wouldn't change the tractor's balance much unless it was on the 3ph. Well, or at least as long as the rear wheels were on the ground.

Is the spline on the front of the crankshaft meant for connecting to an additional hydraulic pump or something else? Anyone know the spline specifications on Kubota B7100 with 3 cylinder diesel (I think it's a Yanmar)?<br>

Since speed is a function of flow and not pressure, I don't think that is the problem. The down direction will typically be faster, not only beacuse of gravity but the volume on the rod side of the piston is smaller and the same amount of fluid entering will cause more movement-hence faster.
I assume when you are going down you are referring to lowering the bucket to the ground and not lifting the tractor with the bucket on the ground. The latter is one condition where the pressure might be too high and blowing your seals.

Been offline with ISP problems, but wanted to say Thanks for all the help. I bought the BX22 w/60" mower. I have mowed, loaded and dug merrily away. Yesterday cut down a 45' tree, then used the backhoe to dig out the root and a hole to bury it in. My neighbor who has a Kubota K-48?, and who uses it for living was really impressed with how smooth it operated and its capabilities. The only complaint I have is that I am 4'10' and even with the seat as close as possible, I can't sit back and still reach the pedals. All in all, very happy. :o)

Lawman, I believe you did mispeak as a gear drive will not keep up with a hydro on PTO work, the ability to vary the speeds of operation will overcome all horsepower lost on the dyno when you hit the field. Just one of the facts of life that doesn't change. It is good for about 10% from what I've seen. More is not always better!

I agree with what's been said here as I'm selling one owner units that are comparable for the same type of money. The new replacement value is closer to the 18000 dollar mark for the new ones but the older models don't have all the features of the new ones either. You could buy one equipped about the same for about 16000. There area not a lot of left overs this year as Kubota was nearly totally sold out beyond manufacturing capabilities this summer with the 0% they offered early on. You might just go to your local dealer as he might even have a story to tell of a rental tractor that might even be the one you area looking at!

When clay gets wet it is very sticky and does not clean from the tires well. Normally when this happens it is wise to use thr stepest bar angle that you can find. They also need to be skinny so you have a high load on the bars to penetrate with. The R-4 tires give a firm but smooth ride and doesn't hurt a lawn unless it is soft even when turning but it does tend to load up in mud. You could look at Kens posts on the trouble that he has had with traction as he has just switched to ag tires in hopes of ending his problems with traction. For Ken's needs he normally was very happy with the industrials and they do work fine for many people and in many circumstances. The R-1 would be my choice for that application.The R-1 vs R-4 for the height of the tires that you questioned can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.
