I looked at the Woods chipper but didn't consider it since it doesn't have a blower. Never heard of a Wallenstein, do you have a link to it?

The new Stihl oil is not a result of EPA. It is a result of the advances in oil technology and new chemicals that have been developed over the past few years. All Stihl products can be run at 50:1 with Stihl oil. Do not mix at 25:1 it won't do any good and will cause more carbon buildup. The black bottled mix is the newest formula and burns cleaner than the old high performance oil in the organge bottle.

You are exactly right Chief. If you wear glasses and never used this stuff, you've been missing out. I bought some years ago and can no longer find it anywhere. It's the BEST lens cleaner ever made, hands down.

Just thought if I can't find it to buy, I'll make my own.

Hello to all-I am still looking around for my tractor and have a few questions for ya'll. I decided I would really like a full cab and air. I found a new Kabota 3430 with a cab and air with loader at $23,000. More than I wanted to go but it is new with warranty and the cab and air. I know Chief likes his JD but maybe he can give me a comparison to the Kabota. Also I believe there was a person out there who deals with the Kabota and he could let me know anything I had better ask up front and also if I am in the ball-park with the price. My many thanks to you all.

Here is the deal on those buckets. Deere markets the 61 inch for moving high volume lighter weight materials.

That is not to say that it is weaker, it isn't, except that any tool with a longer span will bend more readily that it's shorter counterpart.

The issue is the volume. The 410 loader is rated at around 800 pounds of lift capacity. The lift diminishes to around 600 pounds at the bucket lip at full height.

Assuming a cubic foot of damp soil weighs 100-110 pounds, the 49" bucket with its 6 cu. foot capacity (struck) is the best balance for the system.

The 53 inch bucket at 7.8 cu. feet is pushing the envelope but is a necessary attachment for the track width of some tire styles such as the turfs on my 4115.

The 61 inch bucket has a struck/level capacity of 9 cu. feet. That is a 50 percent increase over the standard bucket.

If you do fill the 61" with heavy material you will have limited lift height and you will need absolutely MAXIMUM rear ballast, as in all you can stack on the three point hitch.

It is a usable item, but cannot be used carelessly.

The old BX series (last year)was a pain to switch from FEL to front implements because you had to dismount and remount the loader controls and the hoses were a rats nest.

I just looked at the new set up two days ago..... very nice. I think it is now on par with anything out there.

Do you have access to a belt sander? I think you could shave off the extra metal pretty easily. You would just have to make sure it stayed square to the griding surface.

Even putting it in a bench vice and dressing it down with a large mill file would work.

The bushings should be available wherever top link and pins are sold.

That story sounds a bit too good to be true. Be very warry and careful. Usually if it is too good to be true it is. In the very unlikely possibility that this is a true situation; heck.........I would grab both of those tractors, keep the one I like best and jockey the other one. You will have NO problem selling them. But again I must express my reservations about this story as my personal BNRA (Bovine Nutrient Residue Alarm) is sounding loudly. Let us know if it turns out you needed the hip wadders or this is a legit. deal. And post some pics! ;-)

The main thing about blowers is that you don't have to worry about where to put the plowed snow. In heavy snow areas you have to start by pushing the birms back from road ways or you'll run out of space before spring. In my case parts of the drives I clear go though cuts so I'd have to push snow passed the cuts before I could get it off the drives. The blower just blows it over the top.

Generally plows go faster than blowers so people that have long roadways and space to put the snow might do better with a plow. The downside of blowers is that they are problems on gravel until freeze-up. Places where the ground doesn't stay frozen all winter may do better with plows. Well, plows can have their own problems on unfrozen gravel.

There are some down-sides to altering factory settings as mentioned. It also might compromise warranty coverage and insurance so I think it'd be something to avoid. I don't know how much operating experience people here have--maybe more than mine. I did learn a few techniques along the way and don't get the bucket stuck much anymore. I'd like to think it's a good idea to make sure that operator technique can't solve problems before thinking about pushing the envelope. However, my bucket is fairly small for the tractor and intended more for aggregates than mulch. I wouldn't expect to be able to break out full buckets of aggregates if I had a large bucket except if I had a bigger tractor to go along with it.<br>

The trouble with envelope pushing is that there's no clear place to stop and there'll always be jobs too heavy for any tractor. It's easy enough to get into a hot-rod syndrome but that's not what I'm hearing here. I agree with the notion that it's frustrating to pay big bucks for equipment to get work done and then find it's been engineered into an idiot-proof vanilla-flavoured lawn ornament. Ultimately it may not be very safe engineering either. Adults are going to insist on being treated as aware and responsible for their own actions. They're likley to take risks to get the job done even if a tractor is hamstrung.

I've been using one for occasional fairly light work for about five years without problems. The tractor is a Ford 1710 and the hoe is not particularly strong or large for the tractor size. Works for me but there are too many factors to make a responsible claim that it'd work for another hoe, tractor, soil, operator etc.

We've been adding two work lites to the top of cabs and one on the rear with little reported trouble and I forgot heat in the cabs. Depending on normal use with day light conditions and only heater and minumum light used or limited night time use fine. Constant dark operation with full heat and three lights will require the optional alternator to keep the battery fully charged. We found that longer cool down periods was helping on some to recharge the battery after night or full option use. We have up graded enough at this point that if you get the cab get the larger alternator to begin with to ensure that a problem won't arise later or unexpectently do to a change. I normally recommend a trickle charger when tractors are left in the cold to maintain a good full charge in the battery and this tool would over come this condition.

I use a 72" LP side discharge. Mowing around trees is really no big problem. Usually I'll mow toward the tree and turn away so the rear mower swings under the branches.

Also trimming you can back under things. You can also back the mower over ditches to trim them.

With the side discharge you can block othe discharge chute and use it for mulching.

Biggest problem with tarping out side is moisture. Make sure air can move around and under the tarp.

Loosening the clutch slip system is a good idea as long as you have the right torque specs when you adjust in the spring.

Maybe better just to pull that assembly off and store that indoors.

Lots of talk in years past about blocking clutch pedals for storage. Personally I've never seen it done.

Thats about as good as I would think you could do. I bought that package earlier this year (added weights too) for about that price in the mid atlantic. I personally found a 2k price difference to the BX2200, and I didn't think it was worth it.

I go Kiwis (the fruit). My vineyard is planted and trellised with a pergola system that has wires running horizontally through the field at about 6 feet off the ground. These wires are very, very strong and have very little give.<br>

In chosing a tractor, it is important both the tractor and the driver, me, fit under these wires. The tractors I have tried all had foldable ROPS. <br>

I had the Kubota dealer deliver a B7500 with R-4 industrial tires for demonstration and both it and I fit under the wires just fine, but it turned out the B7500 did not have the features I need, so I moved up to a B2410. Since the dealer did not have any instock, I roughly calculated the clearance of the ROPS and me and think we both will fit under the wires. <br>

So, I decided to order the B2410. Now I am wondering since it's industrial tire size appears to be the same tire as the B2710 (per my dealer's spec book), if the B2410 and I will fit under the wires. And these tires are a lot taller than the B7500's tires.<br>

Now for the twist, Well, the dealer has a B2710 that comes off flooring and is willing to sell it to me for the same price as the B2410. It appears to be just an inch or two too tall for me to fit under the wires and it appears from measurements that the tractor will clear the wires by a few inches. This unit has R-4 industrial tires also. I am having it delivered next week for testing.<br>

I can also use R-1 Agricultural tires as my application is purely agricultural. I almost never will be off dirt. <br>

My question is to you guys or gals who own a B2410 or a B2710, could you measure from the ground to the top of the cleat and tell me how tall your rear R-1 Agricultural tires are? Then I can compare to the R-4 tires and determine if a switch in tires will give me the clearance I need. The dealer said the R-1 Agricultural tire is an inch or two shorter than the R-4 Industrial tires, but we did not have any to measure<br>
