since you get it from a dealer, I think they would give you some type of warranty to boot? I forgot to factor in all those attachments...the loader is $2400 itself, and finish mowers are up there as well...deal looks real good now!!
Actually Mark was one of the folks I was thinking of regarding experience with 4100's (and 4115,and Bx's, and many others) He has every attachment ever made or could ever think of !! :)
I really think the demand on these have increased a lot..most sell right away and for real good money...that says a lot about these machines...the link below gives new prices on implements and machines for a reference.

My backhoe runs off the tractor hydraulics, I think I can leverage that plumbing. To answer Art, the cost is the biggest driver for me, and this is something that I would be using on a regular but infrequent basis (only when I got enought wood gathered to warrant having a splitting session)

I have a JD 4700 and set up aux lights on the ROPS. VERY handy. Recently bought a JD2210 and yes, the loader makes the headlights just about useless. This is what I did; ordered two brush guards for the ROPS turn sigs/marker. Same parts as for the 4700 (dealer found no listing for guards for a 2210) Mounted a pair of JD work lights on the brush guards as designed. Took two generic work lights and mounted them on a small plate then attached the plate to the ROPS using the predrilled umbrella holes. YES, 4 lamps WILL overload the worklight circuit and pop the fuse, soon if not immediately. Simple solution; wire the lamps all the way up to the battery compartment. Get a Bosch or P&B 12v relay and connect the battery to the lamps (through the relay, and of course fuse the connection), tap the headlight wire to use as a relay trigger. Aux lights come on with headlights and no blown fuses!

I think darrin's "informative", "mature", and "well written post" demonstrates a shining example as to why I and MANY MANY others no longer participate on that web site. Here are some posts from older discussions on this topic. I also added a photo . See the link at the bottom the cap is #6 and the shims are #8. Obviously this is at your own risk, but I am confident I am still within safe parameters.<br>

You need to order two of these packages. It is an assorted pack of shims that you can put in to increase the relief pressure."<br>

"OK, I'm going to try and post a picture with this email. Flip up the seat on your tractor and this is what you will see. You will notice there are three caps. The one on the right (looking from the rear, it is the tallest cap) is where you will add the shims. Be careful when removing the cap because there are a couple of parts from inside the cap that can fall down and get lost. The shims get added to the inside of the cap, so as to push all of the other parts down slightly more. I originally said to add two full packages, but don't do this. I put mine on a guage and the PSI was way too high. Get a guage, start with one full package, and then work up from there. Keep in mind that the factory setting is 2050 PSI. I have mine at 2500 now with a modest increase in power. (3500 works really good, but don't ask how I know). When putting the cap back on, if it seems difficult, then reach in the hole and pull out the rubber o-ring and slip it over the threads on the cap. I will thread right in then. <br>
I didn't measure it w/just one pack. I had both packs in when I saw the 3500 (actually a little more...the guage was a 3500 psi guage). My brother, who is a diesel mechanic, said that there was danger of cracking the pump at that pressure. We took out part of one of the packs and came up w/2500. Most of the difference was in the second pack. I would buy two packs (they are very cheap) and add them accordingly. The factory rated 2050 psi is just a safety measure that JD has built into these tractors so that no one turns one over. The frame on the loader as well as the hydraulics are capable of much more than this. I would actually feel comfortable at 3000 PSI....2500 is very well within the safety margin. There is a modest increase in lift capacity w/2500. My tractor would not even pick up a full bucket of sand before."<br>

Im shopping for a 20'X 20' carport to put the tractor under in the summer and a couple of vehicles under in the winter. Ive got a two car garage for my toys but as Ive added a couple more toys this year so I need to keep them out of the weather.<br>
Ive been shopping for some months now and it looks like there are several manufacturers that make basically the same product, for basically the same price. They are all available with optional wind and snow bracing but Im still not convinced that they sre sturdy enough to put my babies under, dispite the fact that several car and tractor dealers in this area have erected them without the bracing and they seem to fair just fine. <br>
Anyone in regions that receive at least 2' or more of snow, acouple times per year, experience structural problems with there steel, aluminum carports?

I just bought a B-7800 this past Saturday with foldable ROPS, FEL, box scraper, MMM, & R-4's for $17,000.
It is an awesome machine compared to the B-7200 I used to own. HST makes a huge difference.

Just a followup, my oldest son turns 8 next week, and I have a JD 1/16 6240 on the way for him...I'm building a shelf in their room from old barn siding, hopefully will do their collection proud. I have a a baby daughter due any day...I hope she knows that she will be collecting New Holland tractors every year! :)

Dave, I understand what you're trying to do, but can't help thinking you're making it more complicated than it needs to be.

The first big problem you're going to have is if the bottom arms are fixed to the FEL frame you won't be able to adjust their attitude, or rotate them like you could with a set of pallet forks. This means you will have a bear of a time trying to stick the forks under a log since they will be locked in position, with only a vertical adjustment. Also, without rotation you have no way to roll them back and transfer the weight in.

IMHO, what you have to do is make the TOP frame close on the bottom, not the other way around.

If you already have a QT plate for your machine, mount a set of pallet forks to it. You then have the option of either going really cheap, chain or rope to kepp the logs in place, or fancy, hydraulically (or sprung like a mouse-trap) closing grapple on top.

Trivia time, I was told by a Kubota PR person that the "D" or "DT" (they use both terms) mean Direct or Direct Transmission, referring to the direct gear drive. He said it was just another example of Japanese grammar written in English.

Kind of like "Caution: Hands must be kept to a minimum.", a direct quote from the owner's manual for one of our units, it is actually trying to warn people not to touch hot engine parts.
