I hope everyone understands that I shut off the fuel valve because there was no other way to stop the engine as it raced past 2800 rpm in a no load situation. In the Coast Guard I ran diesel small boats for 24years. Of those 24 I had two run aways both were jimmy 671's

The dealer took my injection pump off the timing rack was stuck in the closed position and it did not want to slide back and forward. The pump was sent out to a shop for rebuild. The dealer feels something else is broke in there but does not know what.

The engine bolts on these tractors are a weekly checkoff item. You can read previous posts including one person who bought a used tractor that had broken engine bolt holes.
Ive had them loosen even after using locktite.

I have a Bradco 511, the bucket will curl after a few days and if I forget to pin the hoe back, it too, will dropp down to the ground in a few days. You have to remeber that these are not commercial hoes like the JD 710 I run on occasion now where they lock in place

The first thing you need to tell us is:

1) how long your driveway is?
2) how big are the parking areas?
3) what kind of grade you have?

In my opinion

1) drive lengths:
-under 200 rear blower front loader excellent choice
-up to 400 rear blower front loader moderately uncomfortatble
-up to 600 may still use rear but must have compelling use for loader

2) parking areas:
-under 50 x 50 rear blower OK
-over 50x 50 Front blower better

3) slopes under 5% rear over 5% front

Oh yes I remember chips down the neck real well before I got the helmet. The ear mufs help hold it on my head as well but who knows, I might turn into VanGogh if I ever get a serious kickback. I've also yet to have a serious dead limb fall on me while felling but of course that's the reason for hard hats.

The face shield also was very good on fire crew for sticking my whole head into the bottoms of spruce trees so I could grub and use a backpack pump close to the trunks. I was doing so well I suppose that's why I got stuck with grubbing all day. I bought a new style hat for fire crew use last summer and I like it much better than my chain saw hat of the township issued fire hats. It stays in place. Wish I'd have paid for face shield and earmuff mounts but I guess they could be added.

A friend's son started working for a logger this summer. He gashed his ankle a bit. I don't know if was a boot or chaps that stopped most of it. The main problem was cleaning out the gash because the chain took a bunch of chap or boot into the gash. Since he was working for a commercial logger he likely was wearing safety equipment and still got gashed.

Hey Dan we just started selling the Ventrac line so I don't really have any used Ventracs but I do have used Steiner equipment. I will look around today for a used Ventrac for you. What model did you want? How much do you mow and what other attachments do you need. Remember most Steiner attachments will fit the Ventrac. How long can you wait for a good used one or demo?

The 4 way valve is required to operate a blade or a blower on the front end..... either you have it or you don't.... but it has to do with basic operation, not ease of install.

Speaking from experience, not having to detach and re-attach the loader control valve is a big time saver.

I like the looks of the new set-up and it looks as if it approachs the ease of installation found on the Deere front implements.

Moth balls can be effective, but I am tired of being on defense with those little shits.

I have begun taking the battle to them, on their turf, (outside) with the "rat zapper" and I have been seeing a reduction in overall numbers.

I guess I am saying the has to be more than one prong to your approach.

If the area could use a post hole auger there would be no reason that one couldn't be added onto the loader boom and run from a pto operated pump. The BX would have a good advantage working on a woods floor as it wouldn't tend to break through.

Murf, I'm in the process of building a "poor mans grapple" for the FEL on my Kubota. I need to thin some spruce woods and need a way to pile the pulp/sawlogs after they're cut to length. The lower two grapple arms will be solidly attached to the FEL arms and extend beyond the FEL arms by two-three feet (bucket removed). The upper grapple arm or arms will be attached to a quick attach faceplate that I bought from an equipment dealer. This upper arm will also be two-three feet long and will curve slightly toward the lower to hold the log. I should be able to drive up to a log, drop the grapple around it and just use the bucket curl valve to clamp onto the log. Again, the lower arms are fixed to the loader frame. When closed the upper and lower arms will point about 45 degrees down from horizontal so the log will roll out easily. The simplicity of this grapple is that extra hydraulics are not needed just the loader hydraulics. At first I thought of just using pallet forks but then realized that getting a log to roll off the forks and end up in a neat pile would not be easy.

Turns out here are two types of top links, Kubota uses one that has Cat 0 dimensions with Cat 1 holes.

I have one I can sell that is a true Cat 1 and has a 9 inch body and a 13.5 inch center to center length when at its shortest. It is identical to the dimensions of the top link that came with my 4115 with the exception of length.

Where it differs from the Kubota version is that the slot it fits onto on the tractor must have a width at least 1.75 inches, Kubotas are 1.5 inches if memory serves.

Do some measuring and let me know. I need $35.00, which includes shipping.

I agree. If you use implements that are not within the limitations of the tractor that would constitute abuse, and JD would be within their rights to deny any warranty claims. The upside doesn't seem worth the potential downside. Are you sure the LX series of rotary cutters wouldn't do the job? If not you could rent something to cut once and then keep it down with the LX cutter.

I am looking for power in a small package to replace my 955 and MF65. To this end I am considering the new Kubota Grand L 5030. Another option would be the McCormick GX50. There is a dealer fairly near but does not have the small compacts in stock only the larger field tractors.<br>
Has anyone looked closely at these tractors? What are they like? Are they price competative? Does anyone know if they are a McCormick or a badge engineered Lamborghini etc.? As they have a Yanmar engine it is tough to tell.
