My Cub 7274 has lost 1 of the engine to block mounting bolts -Does anyone know the size of this bolt?<br>
My pther ones are tight & I don't want to disturb them if possible<br>

It's the 30 hp model. I got it in March, 2002. When I let the weeds get too tall, I had to drop down a gear, but it still handled it fine. Since I only use it around our property, I haven't had a reason to go anywhere lengthy with the MX-5 up in the air, but it doesn't appear to have any problems lifting it. I have overloaded the FEL a few times and had to back off a bit.

HOOKIE COW MURF I never thought about a ski-goat on the beach otherwise your post sounds much like I'd have wrote except I do not go south at all any more.

Funny spending 3 years in Honolulu and those folks have NO IDEA about how easy it is to drive a couple of hours to go shopping or get something to eat. I've done SE Asia, Korea, Alaska, and lots of other places, spent many years away from home and snow. But I will admit Virginia Beach does have a place in my heart during the summer;-) Just leave me in Upstate NY for all winters.

I like the snow and have at least 4 pr of alpine skis at most times. No ski-goats. But many of the other LETS GO PLAY IN THE SNOW TOYS.

I hope we get a foot+ each week. and lots of "0" F temps.

Happy blowin, pushin and plowin...Nothin beats a good blow job... on your driveway ;-)

I'll echo what b8fish said and add a few more things:

1. When you disconnect FEL, lift the loader off the tractor support arms just enough to clear the front wheels and no further.
2. Keep the tractor in nuetral when installing the FEL and the tractor should roll forward into place. You can adjust the tractor fore and aft if you think it is necessary.
3. If your FEL will not line up with the front end bracket holes then you need to loosen the 2 large carriage bolts on loader frame. Then mount your loader and tighten the bolts to specs. Mine goes on with no fuss since doing this procedure.

Forgot the smiley, but you get the idea. It's not a very strong transmission. The tow rating is a lot less with the manual than with the auto. I could tell you how much if my Ranger (and the owners manual) weren't in the shop for the third time in three weeks.

After two used kubotas I thought that I would buy a kubota before my 50th birthday. Kubota was unable to deliver the new tractor fel and hoe in 3 months so I tried John Deere and it could not be delivered with the options in two months. I was putting in a 18x38 inground pool and running out of time. I stopped by the local cub dealer just to look at a cub. I borrowed a 7360ss to dig the footer for a garage 2 years ago and thought it was ok but I still wanted a new kubota. Well both kubotas were gone and i had forgotten how nice the cub was. I know the cub is not as finished as the new kubota it even reminded me of the L2250 and L2850 that I had owned. The new kubota is very nicely done. But when it got down to it in my humble opinion the cub was the best built,most powerful, compact that I found for the money. Kubota has the name as well as John Deere but bottom line tractor, f.e.l., hoe with subframe and 3 buckets, pallet forks, and hyd grapler all front end quick release cub was the deal. I now have 320 hrs on this tractor that also runs my 12kw gen. and I am still happy. My only complaint is the price of filters compared to kubota. I get slammed on filters. If you find a place for oem filters please let me know. Yes I did dig the 20x40 hole with that cub.

I just purchased a new BX2230 with loader, 60" mower and loader in CT. The tractor was $8,800, mower was $1,800 and the loader was $2,600. Hope it helps.

Sounds more like a convenient line to cover a minor manufacturing and/or design error.

If the filter doesn't allow water or debris to pass through what possible reason would there be for a 'sump'.

As for the 'pour it back into your fuel container' advice, that just seems DUMB, if you catch some debris or water why for goodness sakes would you put it back in with the rest of your fuel supply? So that when someone forgets to use the funnel it can get into your tank? Yeah, OK.

We just catch the debris with a coffee filter, then drain the water seperators regularly, the fuel drained from the seperators is 'fire starter' in the shop furnace, along with the used coffee filters.

I had researched many of the "popular" tractor brands while searching to upgrade from my Kubota. I decided on a Long tractor however couldn't afford the price of a new one with all the attachments that I also needed. I found a used 99 landtrac 360DTC that needed some work, as the former owner beat the daylights out of it. The tractor was still usable and ran and worked like a raped ape. I had to replace the clutch and 2 gears in the gearbox. It runs even better now. My opinion is that the power and lift capacity ratings are underestimated, I saved about $10000 from a new tractor and had to put $2500 into it for the clutch and gears. One thing I did find odd is that most of the Long dealers have never worked on these tractors, aside from normal maintenance. I thought they were pulling my leg, but I haven't had any problems since. I would definitely buy another if I ever needed it.

I never had much use for hard hats either till site rules demanded FULL protection.

After ten minutes of use I realized they're REALLY handy, but not from a nock on the noodle point-of-view, they keep the chips out of your hair and from going down your neck, they hold the screen face mask, and when you mount the hearing protectors to them they can be easily flipped off without losing them.

As for the chainsaw itself, I've got the best ones available now, they come with young men with strong backs to use them for me, the splitter and chipper are now so 'equipped' too. Great option.

Regarding tire choices, what kind of soil do you have? If it's mucky clay you'd probably want the R1s since the R4s will clog quickly and behave like slicks.

Knowing those machines I'd rather be on a BX with the Ag tire design or close. The worst thing I could see is being near a tree tring to dig through it's root system with to small of a unit. Yes I have had to cut roots and do it the hard way before but time is money and if your out there trying to make a dollar I want to go in get the work done and head to the next job. If I have the time then let's talk! With the snowmobile club we often are making trails thru woods and digging out stumps so the groomers can get thru easily. It is different but yet some is the same as we often end up with big holes from the Maples.

Chief, I think there might be some leadership thrown in here too, from some people that wear pants normally. In our area you could boost all you want but we've been maintaining the market share here under 100 horse with the blue boys being second.

I'll be interested hearing the outcome. I think of a run away diesel as one that goes to max no-load rpm or beyond and stays there irrespective of hand throttle position. I didn't think fuel starvation would do that but maybe 'run away' means something else.<br>

While there are a few things on a governor/pump that would switch operation to fast idle (max no-load) there's still the problem of why it wouldn't shut down or start again so that explanation would have to be have separate problems in both the pump/governor and the solenoid. Separate malfunctions that produce one problem is a stretch. <br>

The problem with a solenoid explanation is that it has to both fail to open completely and then fail to release when the key is off. I read Art's comment after posting mine and now I'm thinking that a solenoid that is weak and sticks at just the right place and then won't release and finally sticks in a fuel off position might be a more reasonable explanation--at least it's all the same malfunction. If the tractor was stuck at fast idle I'm still not sure how likely a fuel starvation explanation is but maybe I'll learn something.

Bill the power steering was on one of the number series. It's like 841 was with independent pto the 861 had power steering. But there were no combinations of both if I'm not mistaken.
