Hello all!<br>
I'm interested in the BX22-23 TBL unit. My main use would be digging test holes with the backhoe. Alot of the terrain would be wooded and the ability to get around trees and some ground clearance is required. The Kioti CK20 seemed ok but the sub frame sticks out the back and would get hung up I believe. Has anyone used their BX22 in the woods without too many problems? The B21 would be nice but I would prefer a smaller machine for transport and $s.<br>

I agree with Mark and Ken. These guys sound like wackos and for me it would be time to find a new rental place. I will bet that they would not hesitate to rent me a jack hammer if I was digging next to a gas line.

Isn't that sort of ironic.

You miss an O-ring in cleaning the screen.

Now you have to carefully pour out the new oil into a funnel with a screen in it so that you don't get a bunch of junk in the oil that will just clog up the newly cleaned screen.

It's almost like a Government job I suppose.

Apparently I have too much time on my hands for getting philosophical too ...... Damn snow, not enough to blow or plow, just enough to make it more comfy in front of the fire.

Been there, and been just as confused. Owned a BX2200 and loved it but wanted something a bit taller and more tractor like on the rear end. Thought about a B2710 but went with the slightly smaller B2410. Amazing machine. Front end loader works like a dream. It even hangs deer nicely. I was worried about the cutting deck cuz it rolls on the grass unlike the BX which hovers. It's just as good as the BX and with the extra power, it eats up any small branch that you might find in the woods. The industrial tires don't tear up the lawn, either. They're in between the turfs and ags. And since the BX did so well with a rear plow in the snow, I suspect the B2410 will be great too and with the added front-end loader, like wow! Full disclosure: I've also got a riding mower to do right around the house.

That confirms my suspicions. Although it's more tractor then I need day to day, I don't want there to be any days where it's not enough tractor. So, I think I'm going to have to go with a new L35, I've been spoiled. My wife pointed out that we should get a new tractor, since that's the centerpiece, and we can go with used 3PH attatchments, and we don't have to buy all the attatchments when we get the tractor. Anything used doesn't come with a warranty, etc. We're going to have this tractor for a LOONG time.

Any pointers on options, things to look out for? Options to absolutely get, and options not to bother with? I seem to remember something about a higher capacity alternator, that's something I'd be interested in. I want an enclosed cab. I know they come with a standard FOPS, does kubota have a cab option? I definitely want the quick attach bucket on the FEL. The dealer said they can do that using an aftermarket, I think he said ATI?? I'll want the HD with a cutting edge at a minimum, but I'd like a larger size lighter duty bucket for moving stuff around. And I'll also want, eventually, some pallet forks.

Kiotiman, I agree with you on the shuttle shift. I've spent many hours loading dump trucks with a 580 case that had a shuttle shift and they work great (back then we called it a reverser). For my Kubota I passed on the hydro and GST and bought the shuttle shift for simplicity. I expect this tractor to outlast me.

Yeah, I asked everyone about tires since that was the toughest issue for me. Two guys even came out from the dealer to look at the property and they were divided between R1s and R4s. Oh well, I now know R4s were wrong for me - time will tell if R1s will be a big improvement but they sure look like it.

I found the o-ring needed to stop the leak. Must of fallen off when i removed housing. In other news i found a company in the US that make a kit to convert to universal skid stear attachments. The ATI corporation manufacturs what is called the tach-all quick attach system. If you search on google with the word tach-all it is the first site to pop up. They have a package fabracated specifically for the 70 series loader.look's very professional. They also make all kinds of really nice attachments for your fel. worth checking out

Ken, be sure to post your observations on the new R-1 tires. I am curious as to how they will perform. Can you also take note and see how much they leave tracks or imprints on the lawn. I have to drive my tractor across the yard to get to where I do a lot of work. I like the fact that you can adjust the width of these tires too. That should make a world of difference on slopes. I will have to take a look at my tractor's fenders and see if it is possible to "shim up" the fenders to make clearance for chains. I hate the idea of cutting on the fenders. I would think that something along the lines of a piece of metal or phenolic block could be used to raise the height of the fender in relation to the tire. Don't forget the pictures!!! ;-)

My blade is a LandPride 1584, I believe. It is 7 ft wide. Tom, you are correct about the angle of the blade. When I angle the blade, it is about the width of the R4 tires on my 45HP tractor. The leading edge of the blade cuts into the hill and pulls the dirt downhill to level out a road. The cuts into the hill are clean enough unless you hit a big rock. The dirt on the downhill side will often make a little curb that supports the roadbed.

I don't know how much my blade weighs, but it is nowhere near 1000#. I would guess 400# maybe. I do adjust the angle of attack on the blade with the toplink as Tom suggested. I adjust the roll angle with the leveling screws as I mentioned earlier.

The soil that we have here is called colichi. It is the same soil that is used to make Adobe bricks. It gets just as hard under the surface, but I have never had a problem with the blade biting into this stuff. I think that the angled blade has something to do with its effectiveness. I do have a single tooth subsoiler that I use for putting in cable below ground, and I would make a few passes with that to break up the ground if I ever encountered something that the blade would not cut.

I considered a motor driven welding power supply at one time, but I eventually separated out the backup generator and welder. I have not looked at the specific unit that you refer to, but in my experience the amount of backup power for a given engine size is much lower on welder/gensets. For example, my 9KW generator uses an 18 HP gasoline engine. Most welder/gensets that I looked at had engines twice that large for the same KW. If you go with diesel, the fuel usage may be about the same even with a larger motor, but the mass and weight are going to be substantially higher.

I do a lot of welding (for a non-professional welder). I use an inverter welder that is connected to the powerline. I switch between TIG, MIG, Stick, anb other types of welding as I need to. The same power supply is also a 60A plasma cutter. I can attach it to my generator and it will do most welding that I need done up to about 120A. I have never turned the power beyond that when I have been on the genset. The same inverter pulls about 50A at full power, so it would exceed the capacity of my genset by about 25%.

My point here is that I don't want to change what I need for welding to have a single unit that can also provide backup power. Murf and Tom also make good points.

I bought a Ford 1910 with a zero hour engine. I'm coming up to 50 hours. The OM calls for Ford 121 for oil and Ford 134 for Transmission, Rear Axle, Power Steering, and Hydraulic System oil. The OM gives a chart for engine oil and temp ranges, but I don't know what Ford 134 relates to. Sams Club has R&O 20wt (AW46) and Heavy Duty Universal Tractor Hydraulic & transmission Oil 10w20. How do these relate to Ford 134? The OM doesn't list filter #s. What oil, air, hydraulic, fuel filters does it use? I know I can ask the New Holland dealer, but it is a long distance call and I suspect I will get Ford biased answers.

I bought a Snap'n Turtle stump or tree puller made by Caldwell Mfg. in Texas. It looks like it originally was set up for a 3PH, but has been modified a little. Is anybody familiar with this implement? It looks like it would work great if I can mount it correctly.

It is the indicator that is melting. You turn the key to the left and it the wire heats up. This keeps melting down and I have not found a mechanic who can give me an answer except it may be many things or a short somewhere

Very interesting.

Kubota has finally updated the loader valve mounting and reorganized the quick connects. I always hated taking the loader off and trying to reattach the hydraulic controls for the front blade.

They have made a major improvement there.

sergent, it's tough to get 2000 out of a good clean used one. I don't think even sentimental value could justify another 2500 being spent on a tractor that old.
