They did have some problems with the initial front axles they used under those tractors. They had a problem with rutting when turning and were only going to change those with mowers. If that tractor is equipped with that axle that might mean a better deal should be made.

I have often stated that I believe that the low hours of use often make the syntetic oils extremely expensive as you are taking out oil that is not bad from use but from age and the moisture from condinsation.

Buz, in that case, yes of course the heavier machine should have better traction.

My only point was that weight alone is a poor measure of traction, there are other far more important factors.

Case in point, a nieghbour was having traction problems plowing snow with his machine two years ago. He had Ag. (R1's) tires on his machine, a grey market Yanmar, I convinced him to try my machine with turf's on it. Even though I was running a higher blade width to hp. ratio, and LESS weight to power ratio than he was I could plow circles around him, and with TURF'S to boot!!

It's an difficult concept to get your mind around I know.

Basically what I'm trying to say, based on lots of experience at this stuff, is the cross-feed auger on your blower is, and does I'm sure, feed snow into the 'scoops' faster than the 'scoops' can fire it up the chute and get rid of it.

In a perfectly balanced design, the snow should NEVER 'bunch up' in the center of the blower as you move forward. If it is then the situation I described above is happening, the snow is not being 'thrown' as fast as it is being 'collected'

Your comment about it being mounted on a single axle and everything moving together at the same speed is a fundemantal part of what I'm trying to explain.

In a two stage blower there is a big difference in the speed at which the cross-feed auger and the fan (or scoops as you called them) turn. The fan runs MUCH faster than the auger, you don't have this luxury. This leaves you with just one option to improve your blowers performance.

If you can't speed up the rate at which two 'scoops' throw the snow, then double the number of 'scoops' you have, this should, in theory at least, move twice as much snow.

If one scoop can throw say one cu. ft. / second of snow, then two will do two cu. ft. / second, and 4 will do 4 cu. ft. / second.

We add blades to regular two-stage units all the time, the difference in performance is unbelievable, adding little rubber 'wipers' to seal the gap between the impeller ('scoops') and the housing add that much more again to the performance, especially when you are dealing with heavy, wet, sloppy snow and slush.

The generator I just bought has 3 fuel filters. 1 as it comes out of the fuel tank and 2 on the engine. Each have a valve to let water out.

I guess 2 wouldn't hurt after all LOL

I came across a company in the UK that makes a Stickler-type splitter for a 3pth, the big difference is there's has a steel plate a few inches below the auger, this would help hold the wood from splitting very well.

It looks like a much better setup overall.

AC, you were correct, they are Iveco. They are custom built for that race, but based on a prioduction truck intended for "sub-standard roads and conditions" in third world countries, etc.

BNR, you were right too, M-B stopped importing trucks to NA in the early 70's but Frieghtliner and M-B now have a strategic alliance which will see Frieghtliner dealers carrying M-B trucks, including the famous Unimog.

These are really neat units, they are also available with a standard Cat. 2 3pth & pto, front, back, both or either one alone.

Wait a minute, "proper man's truck WITH a 3pth & pto....

Now where getting somewhere .......

The prices that you have been given are the Kubota recommended priceing. I was quoated the same price last night in ID. The manager showed me the book. THe price includes all of the hoses and fittings for the task. When you add the next set it should go down to approx 400 for the whole deal

I think Mark is probably right in thinking it should say "either" and not both. The part about 1210 pounds sounds about right, but they must mean in total.

We use 750-1000 pounds of 3pth-mounted ballast on our loaders and they don't get tippy unless you're really trying to overdo it.

Recently I found a used Case-International model 1120 compact tractor for sale at a local dealer...has 739 hours on the clock, paint a bit faded, has a 60-inch belly mower and turf tires. Paint is a bit worn on the foot wells, has a dent in the hood...looks clean with no leaks anywhere. Dealer wants $6950 for it. Is this a fair price? It looks like it's been used as a mower--paint on the hitch/pto area doesn't even have a scratch like it's been used little if any...?? Other questions: The plate says Made in Japan...but what company made these 1120 models??? Are parts available? About how old is this model (I'm guessing 10 years?) Lastly, any thoughts on reliability or maintenance issues?<br>

When I turn the cold start aid on my tractor it over heats and melts the coil(wire). I have replaced the start aid and it still melts down. Do I need to repalce the glow plugs or is something gone bad.

chuckles, the reason I love my 2150 is that it's wheelbase is one inch shorter than the 7500 (yes 7500), wider, with a lower center of gravity, but is still 24hp. this makes it very stable, manuverable, and powerful. My mower is not optimum, its an old 48" woods but works ok. I still have a 48" exmark with mulching kit to clean up leaves or if I need some exercise.

As an engineer I can tell you definitively, NOTHING is impossible, whether or not it is worth the time, effort and expense is another story....

Ask a dealer, they should have a cross-reference as to what accessories fit what models, I'm sure you're not the first person to have this problem, lots of people buy new tractors and want to reuse existing implements.

Tom's idea of a generic cable is a good one but I think you'll have better luck making your own.

Usually it is just the inner cable that snaps, if this is the case then get another piece of inner cable from an inexpensive 'universal type' cable and solder the drive ends from you old cable onto it with Silver solder (it's much harder than lead solder). If you can't get the old ends off, sometimes they're crimped in place, you can usually make a suitable replacement from a short section of small diameter tubing.

When you first turn the key on your 4100, you see the dash lights come on and then you hear a click and they dim a little.

If you wait about 6 seconds you hear another click and the lights brighten.

I think that this interval, where there is a power draw, is when the glow plugs are active on the "indirect injection" Deere engines.

This design is found on the 2210, 4010, 4100 and 4110 but not on the 4115 and larger CUT's.

Deere does a very good job with the add-ons. Anyway now I can route the hose further away from the lift arm, and "neaten" it up some too.
