I live on 7 acres with a LOT of trees. I have tried all kinds of mowers. The first was an old New Holland with 4' deck. Fine machine if not many trees. Same as Case 444 with 44' deck, and Yanmar with 5' rear mt. finish mower. All took about 13 hours to mow. I now use an old Yazoo with a 60

I'm going to look at a 96 jd755,4wd, power steeering, turf tires, with a loader & mower, and about 400 hours. Dealer is asking $12,500.00 Says it's cherry. Does this price seem fair? Also, any opinions regarding hydrostatic trans for loader work?<br>Thanks,<br>Ray C.

You definitely don't want liquid in the tires to improve ride. The air inside the tires compresses significantly and serves as the only suspension system the tractor has--4 air bags. Liquid is incompressible and when placed in the tires to the typical 75% fill level (valve stem up) drastically increases the stiffness. If you need rear ballast use wheel weights. The other posters are right about using the minimum inflation pressure in the tires front and rear to support the weight each tire carries when the tractor is parked on level ground. The required pressure depends on the static weight. You weigh the front axle, then the rear axle and divide each by 2 to get weight per tire. Then go to the Load-Inflation pressure tables provided by the tire companies to look up the required inflation pressures. The Tire and Rim Association publishes these tables also--they are the same for all tire brands that adhere to the Standards. Another major factor for improving ride on a Compact Tractor is to set the wheels out to the widest position permitted by the manufacturer. Having them narrow causes the operator to experience significant side-to-side motion when one wheel passes over a bump or into a depression.

I too don't think you will find even a compact t/l/b under 12k to 15k or so. Although, you can buy a 92 terramite for about 6 to 12k (if you like the machine). Go to a search engine and search for terramite. There are many used ones for sale around the country. Also, most places that rent them have them for sale. <br>BTW - You can rent JD and Kubotas in North(west) NJ for about 200/day, not 350. Terramites can be rented for about 170.<br>Also, many sellers will have leasing arrangements with buyout options where you can get a used 12-16k machine for under 400/month.

Moving on to the 4100, we fell in love. Our tasks entail about 80% fine mowing & 10-20% loader/misc work.<br>I haven't had a chance to mow with the R4s yet, but still feel I made the right decision to opt for them. Thanks guys but the choice is mute now. Someone else bought the 4300 collarshift(this morning the dealer had it torn down putting a fix to the trans. recommended by the JD engineers) and the 4200 HST would take awhile to come in.<br>Instead I bought the 4400 he had sitting there. Its a 4wd HST with rear PTO, dual SVC, R4 tires, and folding ROPS: for $17000.00. I have a side deal to get a 430 Loader at cost and free ballast box, when I'm ready to buy. Hope you guys think this is an OK deal.

I just shook hands on a 4400 HST, 4WD, R4 tires, rear PTO, dual SVC and folding ROPS for $17000 (with a deal to buy a 430 Loader at cost later on). It was the only one around though, rather than ordering one and waiting till November.

Looked at JD 4100 and Kubota B2100 very hard in East Texas. The JD dealer quoted 6 weeks delivery but was honest enough to say it could be

I know JD must be squirming at the lost revenue but nobody can expect a customer to wait 6 months for delivery ....that's totally rediculous. We have the dollars to spend and that gives us the power to influence manufacturers. I hope JD gets the message but it's too late for me, I'll just have get used to the new paint job.
Maybe it's just me that has no patience but if I had to wait 6 months on a Ford, I would be driving Chevy P/U as well and that would really hurt. Must be me 'cos I ride a Suzuki too - couldn't wait 1-1/2 years for a Harley either. "> DEERE 4000 Series Availability amp Delivery Dates

Tom,<br>Yes, JD does sell a kit to add hydraulics to the 750. The kit is complete and comes with clear, concise directions for installing it. So if you have some tools, and general mechanical working knowledge, you should be able to install it yourself without much difficulty. The kit that I installed had two selective control valves (and naturally, four outlets) that I use with my front-mount snowblower. I'm not sure of the pump capacity. Hope this helps -- Good Luck!

I don't know what part of the country your in but here in South Texas we use alot of coastal bermuda for pasture and hay. You plant coastal in sprigs. For 4 acres you could sprig it by hand. Disc the field several times to kill all the weeds and other grasses (herbicide helps too) then plant the sprigs in 36

The 1209 is a late 70's model, 9 ft wide I believe. $1150 doesn't seem bad if it's in good condition. I think the 350 is a 7 foot sickle bar three point hook up. Might be a little heavy hanging off the side of a compact. Don't know about the NH. The JD 337 is a mid eighties model, price seems about right. The rake might be a little high. Don't think you can go wrong with JD stuff. There are lots of dealers and parts can be had easily.

In East Tennessee there is a store that is selling the 5'KingKutter for $799 and the 6'KK for $899. That was this past weekend (8/7/99). Each was supposedly $200 off of its retail price ($999 and $1099 respectively).
