Good points Murf but I will be storing my mower in the basement which is heated. I cannot stand to leave equipment setting outside if possible. The rust and weather is so hard on it.

Randy, we have MANY hours on older equipment, Stihl and others, using that new oil, no problems yet.

We also noticed the lack of smoke, kind of nice but I still think of two stroke smoke as visible indication of the protection.

I appreciate your reply, particularly coming from a New Englander like myself. I bought the Exmark used last May and really like it. Some time over the summer, I called the company and asked if the mulching blade would solve my problem. With reluctance, the company representative said probably "no" due to the fact that I am virtually surrounded by trees. The solution you suggested is clearly the leaset expensive and the least labor intensive. I will give it a try.

The Long Farmtrac (formerly Landtrac) 360 DTC is a very nice tractor built by LG in Korea and features a 4 cylinder Mitsubishi diesel. I have just signed up with Long as a dealer and prior to doing so, read most of the posts I could find. There are some posts regarding engine damage onLong tractors (sold by Long as Longtrac as opposed to Farmtrac)which are of eastern european origin. It is true that most of those engine problems seemed to have been reported by confessed either users (on the tractors, not the owners!). The model you are looking at is a completely different tractor.

I know that and didn't mean to infer it either. We do find some machines need a little extra attention some times and then they are fine. Perfection is in the eyes of the beholder! I just hope they open some time!

I paid somewhere around $40 IIRC. Seems kind of spendy for such a simple item, but the guy has to pay for production costs and seems to have a fairly small market. I would have got the dual-axis one but I bought mine before that one was available.

On the top of the black instrument panel above the hood there are two screws - I was thinking of making a bracket that could be mounted by those screws and hold the tiltmeter in a visible position above the steering wheel. Just have to get around to it I guess.

I'm hunting for a Yanmar 1110D. Doesn't need to be pretty since I can repaint it easily. I'd prefer one that has a good drivetrain. Grew up in a tractor repair shop and can do any work it might need. I already own a Koyker 90 loader, cat. 0 backhoe, and another tractor with a 3 cylinder Yanmar engine. <br>

The EPA did those Detroit diesels in. They do have their own distinct sound. The current JD, Case and Agco models are about $250,000.00 nicely equipped. It would be interesting to see the use they get put to in order to justify the huge cost.

After reading this thread; I'm "worried". The 3ph log splitter that came with my used TC45D was used by me the first time this weekend. I hooked it up the way the original owner did, with a bungee cord holding the rear valve open...it did seem somewhat slow, and I had to operate the tractor at about 1400 RPM...I started to wonder whether the hours on my tractor was worth the amount of wood I split. And now I'm wondering if I am "hurting" the valve by using a bungee cord...thoughts?

I must not live in a good end of town or somebody else's wife just couldn't get there leaves raked fast enough so she borrowed my rake and forgot to return it. My next door neighbor is in her 70's, she has acquired a fear of tree's falling on her house at nite while she sleeps. A couple of years ago she called in a crew and had all the big maples cut down and was nice enough thought we should split the bill as they were on the property line. Didn't leave much other then on the other side of the house so I don't have it to bad compared to a few years ago. I really do miss those big boys though we even had a Burly maple that was pushing 48" on the stump that was solid.

Thanks. Clearance is a problem so 3 pt would be most convenient if I don't break my tractor. By keeping it tight I assume you mean all linkage bolts should be properly torqued. How about the pin joints, though? They can be preloaded by applying download on the stabilizers by how are these to be set and how critical is it?

You will be looking for used as I don't believe that Deere is still building any attachments for that model any more. Try your local dealers as often they may have taken one in and not sold all the attachments. We often tell the people you get them all if yoyu buy the tractor, like it or not. Some times we just load them up for scrap when the trucks come thru or sen them to an auction.

If there's a PS option for the tractor, finding a salvage unit might be the best and easiest way. However, there's a good chance that different steering and front end parts also might be needed as well as hydraulics--especially if a factory option used a separate PS pump. If there's a factory kit, a parts guy could tell you everything that's needed.

There are after-market kit manufacturers around but they may specialize in units for older farm tractors that didn't have factory PS options. The link below goes to a company that is gets good play on another board. They are specialists in units for older Fords but they might be helpful.

If your property is often very soft or muddy you may be better off with PTO driven manure spreaders than the ground driven models. I have consider the same for myself as the ground drivens reportedly don't do so well when the wheel skid over mud rather than turn and move the paddles.

My property is never too bad. The only real trouble is when the ground floods and them freezes solid. We actually do better with the horse being out because their hoof prints break up the ground and mud so it doesn't freze in a nice smooth and slippery rink :)

In Georgia this shouldn't be a big problem for you.

The Massy GC2300 comes with or without the backhoe. I have not seen one up close, but it is by all reports its a very capable subcompact tractor and a strong competitor to the BX. The new NH TZ series also appears to be a strong new design. Both the TZ and the GC are designed to beat the Kubota BX.

Any time you can crawl out from under something with just soiled shorts it's a good thing.

There were 2 down Binghamton way. One slid down an embankment sideways stopping at bottom upside down, GRAVEYARDDEAD! The other some how or other managed to fall off and go under a brushhog... NEED I SAY MORE? The papers called it a major trauma, how polite.

The 1920 is a heavier machine in most all aspects. I have used one for heavy landscape and small pasture for 5+ years and feel it is the best mid size machine out there. 4 cyl, larger rubber, shuttle shift, very good 3pt lift make it better than the boomer.
