I've worn seat belts in cars since 1962 when I installed them in a new car that came without them. It's just such a habit that I'd be uncomfortable in a car, truck, or on a tractor without it.

Steve, It sounds to me like you have it figured out; you're just going to have to trace it down to the right one; bad connection, bad ignition switch or neutral safety.

Sorry Greg. Re-read my post. Did not mean to imply that others had inferior equipment. By in my investigation, the features available for the $ I had available, the NH was best. I can't even remember what color it is.

Bob, what kind of service do you need to perform? Regular maintenance, oil change, ect or actual repairs? If it is routine maintenance stuff I would suggest getting the owners manual from deere. If it is repair type work you could probably get hold of an IT manual (stands for Inter Tech I think). If you go to get the acual deere manuals for your tractor the are pretty pricey and you have to buy several to cover the entire tractor. They come in groups, like the frame group, the rear end group, ect.. The IT manuals will step you through stuff like a clutch change, pulling a head ect... If you don't want to spend your $$$ at your local deere dealer, I would recomment jensales.com. Ask for Paul and tell him Steve Baker sent you. Jensales sells a couplete line of Deere manuals as well as the most complete selection of antique tractor manuals that I know of. Good luck.

Yes, I just got the tractor back from the dealer and he said he replaced the camshaft with a new one with a steel gear. My engine date of manufacture is 2/98 so I assume all older 445's have plastic camshaft gears.

The Allis Chalmers and Deutz Allis compacts were built by Toyosha who marketed tractors under the name Hinomoto in Japan. Toyosha also supplied tractors to Massey Ferguson for a while.

The 4500 and 4600 tractors have been very reliable. The joystick control does have adjustable links where it attaches to the valve so you or your dealer can adjust them accordingly<br>

Like others, I just got the news that it will be November before I see the 4200 HST I ordered two months ago. I have no choice but to wait, but in the meantime I have a problem. I plan to build a shed/small barn for the tractor, but space is tight and I want it to be just big enough to fit the 4200 tractor with the 4' width rotary cutter attached. I need to build the shed before I get the tractor -- because trhere will be snow on teh ground whe the tractor arrives. Dealer can get specifications on the length of each component, but not the assembled configuration. Can anyone tell me the total length of 4200 with rotary cutter attached, the height of 4200 with ROPS folded down, and the minimum widht door I need to put on the shed to get the tractor in? Thanks.

Hello All,<br>I have a Long-1100, Model-1540 and the other day I hit a stump while<br>bushhogging...and damaged the power steering. I've blown a seal in the<br>power steering I'm sure...as the cylinder that operates the pitman arm <br>works great with the tractor off. But once the pump starts up the cylinder<br>will not move. That tells me there is equal pressure on both sides of the <br>cylinder. My question is this:Can I do some checks on the power steering <br>first before taking the tractor radiator out? I've already bled all the <br>hydraulic lines of any air...and yes there is plenty of fluid.<br>Any comments, or drawings would be much appreciated...it is a great tractor<br>and my Wife loves working around the farm on it.
