My purchased plans for a log splitter call for 6" x 6" 25# I beam for the main spar. This is for a 20 ton hydraulic load.

I've got to assume the dealer is recommending a factory set of tires and wheels to go with them or at least knows what is recommended will keep the front axle lead within spec. It is an issue and has to be dealt with one way or another. I've heard of people getting into situations where they find a tire they like and then can't find a matching for the other axle that has the right circumference.

Especially if the winter work is on ice with a snow blower, you might try the turfs and not worry about swapping tires. Turfs work pretty good on ice.

Stalker..I am going to order the 51" broom from JD dealer this winter. I've searched far & wide for a broom but the JD broom is the least expensive ($2K without the quicktach). 3 questions: does it fit the quicktach for the blower, how long do the brushes last & have you tried de-thatching with it? Dealer sez the quicktach is compatible and that saves me $500 if it does.

Between sbout 7 and 8 (EST) last night, there was an absolutely gorgeous aurora display here in Maine. Centered about where the sun was at noon, it stretched east and west to the horizon. Did anyone see similar atmospheric effects?

Otherwise, no problems, computer even stayed up!

I finally got around to adding some front auxillary lights on my L3130HST. Went the cheap route with a set of very compact "fog pattern" aftermarket 55W halogens. I had earlier mounted a rear work light,(see thread) so I mounted a 30A automotive relay close to the battery and ran a 18 gauge wire from that switch to control it. The relay only needs 166 milli-amps. A weatherproof inline 'mini fuse' holder attached to the battery with a 15A fuse protects the system. I shortened the factory leads and used 12 gauge wire for the hot side, lights are individually grounded to the mounting bolts.

The lights are on the top of the brush guard, which lets me raise the FEL more than the factory lights do, without getting unstable or blocking the view ahead. They really make working at night a lot safer, I am no longer 'light blinded' by the rear work light.

Have owned a Stihl 028Super, 034, 026Pro, and 046Magnum. No experience with other makes, but some comments from loggers indicate the Huscavarna's are equivalent. Best overall runner was the 028.
According to my dealer, Stihl's model lineup was divided by the number: even model# (026, 036, etc) are pro versions with heavier duty housing, mechanicals, etc. The odd model#'s are lighter duty (Farm Boss,etc). But Stihl's new numbering system blurrs that line-up, unfortunately. Any good dealer will get you to the right saw -- the pro's are worth the extra money.

use redline diesel fuel conditioner. it will remove water from the fuel,improve cetane numbers and will provide excellant injector pump lubrication. have taken injection pumps apart at over 200000 miles when using this product and have had no signs of wear at all.

One thing we totally agree on is that the shear plane shouldn't pass through the threads. And you're right, whatever is going on in that bolted joint, it wasn't a problem. I just wanted to get it back together right so it wouldn't become a problem.

I'm curious about your race engine flywheel mount. Where is the single mounting bolt? Maybe if there were more mounting bolts you could get all that moisture out ;-)

There were two other general design issues I'd be interested in hearing your opinion on. First, the clutch housing is totally sealed. Anything leaking in from the engine or transmission accumulates in the clutch housing ruining the clutch instead of dripping on the ground and alerting you to a problem. There is a plug in the bottom of the clutch housing and I plan on leaving it out. What do you think? Second, the pilot bearing was shielded, not sealed. I figured someone replaced it with the wrong bearing but both engines had exactly the same thing. I replaced it because it felt like it was installed by driving on the inner race. I replaced it with a sealed bearing for better lube retention/contaminant rejection and didn't think seal drag would be an issue at 3000 RPM. Your thoughts?

crestlinefarm, If you are looking for a good but inexpensive tractor; take a look at a Jinma (sold under Farm Pro, Ag Pro, and some other names) Homier sells them and I have seen them for sale at my local Rural King store. Under $8,000 for a 35 hp 4WD tractor & FEL is not bad.

I second that about the spacer bar. I got a used deck from a 455 and bought the mounting kit for the 2210. It included the spacer bar. Also, I found that the adjustment of the lift arms is critical. It HAS to be within a 16th" of the stop pins or you can't adjust or up-lock it. I adjusted it too high the first time and bent the push rod going to the 3ph. Ah, well, a little heat, a vice and it's as good as new. At least I fully understand how the thing works now.

The orange light with the loop is likely the glow plugs. Why they are remaining on? Could be bad thermostat switch?

Is this from a dealer? The hours are low, and it has real nice attachments (snow thrower sounds like it wasnt used at all) so its not bad at all !! Dealer sale would even be better (warranty, service)

My tires needed to be looked at seeping/wet/leaking for what ever reason. it just was a reasonable conversion for my situation,I WANTED THIS INCONVENENCE ONCE!!!!! A real flat I can deal with, I used to be BANDAG certified in tire repair/recapping,with the tractor under warranty why should I do the work.And if something punctures a tire it most likly will puncture the tube 2x the work.

My name is not G.E. and the E.P.A. will not mess with me if something on my property causes a large "FISH KILL" they will stick a $50,000 fine approximatly 2x the times of the price of my tractor where the sun does not shine !!!!!.These guys follow easments to people that have cars LEAKING OIL OR ANTIFREEZE in their driveways !!!!!!!

I was at a dealer in New Jersey today to price a BX2230 with the 50 inch 2-stage snowblower. He told me $11,460 and he "might be able to get it in by the end of November".<br>
Does anyone know if the price reasonable and is the availabilty realistic?
