Really appreciate the info. 7000 is more tractor than I need. Do you know of anyone with 40 to 50 HP. 4-WD Yanmar? Do they even make such an animal?

The SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) Standard for comparing relative hitch lift capacity for Category I three point hitches specifies that the manufacturer provide the amount of weight that can be lifted when that weight is 24 inches behind the hitch points. Many typical implements have their centers of gravity in the vicinity of 24 inches or so behind the hitch points. If the tractor can lift

Hi Dan,<br>'Saw your post and the responses. As far as comparing brands go, I'd first ask actual owners how they have fared with their units. Ask about hours and the use the machine was put to. Particularly for a start up business, cost is very important. At the same time you cannot afford to have the units down or raise overhead on parts and labor.<br>Responses from many non-owners (regardless of brand) are nothing more than hear say in most cases and reflective of biases. Market share does prove two things: 1) First, the unit is reasonably reliable. 2) The Mfgr was very good at selling the machine, which owes alot to a successful marketing plan. There is truth to the adage that a good salesman can sell ice water to eskimos.<br>If you want to go to some checking into some yards, I'd personally check out the larger contractors in your area. Most will have compacts for smaller types of work. Given they will tend to keep a machine 'till it's worn out, the brands on their lots will give a good idea as to where their confidence lies. They are your competition.<br>BTW: I use my Kioti exclusively for hole digging, pull logs & stumps, loader work and rough bush hogging. The machine has never failed in any way. Now if I can keep shear pins in the mower ... figured out how to do field changes without unhitching the mower :)<br>Lee

No. To elaborate on Diggerdarol's post, Iseki is a Japanese OEM. I think they may have produced MF compacts. Definately the Bolens. Kioti is a USA brand name for the Daedong Ag. Corp of S. Korea. Both companies manufacture an extensive line of ag equipment. As far as Daedong is concerned, the Kioti brand is a small portion of their tractor market. I've seen some really big units (pics & all) for sale on the internet. These were in Asia.<br>Lee

I've been told the same, but my dealer won't confirm or deny it. Inquiries to the mfgr. is met with silence. However, my dealer uses both shop Kioti & Kubota shop manuals as he says one is better than the other on various items. <br>On the other front, he says he doesn't get much shop business from the Kioti's he sells. He also says doesn't get any Kubota business as the smaller ones tend to go to their dealers & his core business consists of larger farmers (MF, Deere, White). Large Kubotas don't seem popular in this part of NY.<br>Lee<br>Lee

While it appears from your comments that your towing package included the necessary electrical wiring, it may not have included the actuator that actually causes the electric brakes to activate. This is a usually a small black box about 1 x 3 x 6 inches or so that has four wires (at least) coming out of it and perhaps a slide switch in the front. It is hooked to the brake light switch and to the trailer brakes. When electricity is sent to the brake lights, a relay in the activator energizes the electrical circuit to the brakes. One thing that some people like about the electric brakes is that you can gently press on the brake peddle and activate just the trailer brakes. This can be handy under certain circumstances. There is available a breakaway unit to activate electric trailer brakes if the trailer were to break away, but most trailers I have seen do not have these. The complaint some people have with surge brakes is that it can make the trailer difficult to back up - particularly up a hill when loaded. I think there some surge brake units are available that have some time of lockout feature to prevent the brakes from locking up when backing - however, I have never actually seen them. I assume that silicon brake fluid would be OK for a trailer, but many auto manufacturers recommend that it not be used in their cars. Silicon fluid can reportedly cause the brakes to get very spongy when they get hot. <br>My trailer has axles and brakes that were made for moving factory built houses. These are very heavy duty, but as I am finding out, they are non-standard items. The local wholesale trailer supply store does not carry parts for them. The tires are also unique in that they are 15.5 x 7 and most tire stores do not carry them and they cannot be mounted using some standard tire mounting equipment.

I believe USA Rhino distributor went out of business around the first of the year. Since they are imported from China, I'm sure the People's Republic will pick up another distributer for them.<br>Lee

Regarding the John Deere 1070 (made by Yanmar Diesel).<br>My Draft sensing has stopped working, and I have been unable to obtain satisfactory service from the selling dealer. Also have contacted a rep. at<br>John Deere, and they are of no help at this time. This tractor is supposed to be under warranty, and all I am getting is BS from John Deere and the selling dealer.<br>Any suggestions would be appreciated. I would like to know if someone out there has information on the 1070 Draft Sensing system, or how to contact Yanmar for information. Apparently the people in Moline are unclear as to how it works. They are telling me that the range of motion for the Draft sensing function is only 1 to 1.5 inches (absurd). The unit worked when I bought the tractor new, 6-98, and would easily lift an attachment 12 inches or more depending on load and setting. Any ideas out there?<br>Thank you in advance for suggestions. With all the knowledge and experience that is present here, I was wondering what blade would be best to purchase first, box or rear grader or both. Any preference of make and model? I will be using it behind a New Holland 1320 4wd. I have been looking at the 6 foot Rhino 500 series w/ tilt, offset and angle and the land pride 5 foot box scraper. Any imput would be appreciated. Thanks!

Just for info - just took delivery on 4500 PowrReverser, 460 loader, ballast box today (Aug. 3). It was<br>ordered May 28; the tractor came in early July but the loader took about 2 weeks longer. The price was<br>$22,650 for the above package (without sales tax, with work light and level indicator).

I'm looking at a new low end tractor, for mowing a couple acres of brush, an acre of lawn, and<br>snowblowing in the winter (Massachusetts). It looks like Kubota and Honda both have machines<br>in the $10k - $15k range that can do this. The B7300 or B1700, from Kubota, for instance. Brad: It sounds like the rake is merely digging in too deep, it is filling with dirt instead of debris. Try adjusting the length of the upper link till the vertical portion of the rake's 3pth is absolutely plumb. If you still have problems (they can be tricky things to master) try building a set of gauge wheels like the ones on

Your tractor has a MAJOR factory defect. NO amount of proper break-in or dynos will fix it or ever would in the first place. Get it replaced. I doubt NH will refuse. If they have a case such as Farminlady already documated they will likely not refuse since it would be a cakewalk for an attorney.

perhaps dragging the mower on the ground and hitting stones or tree stumps is the culprit for bending of the stabalizer arms. if your arms are left unpinned it would allow your mower to swing free of obstruction rather than be driven into it while turning. The time it takes for you to change implements is well in excess of time nessesary. I would read the owners manual and check the proper procedures. The links that you bent are built quite a bit stronger than on the smaller kubotas and much like the larger ones, they offer easy fine tuning for adjustment. Iwould think they were not set up for the application.
