350 I have a small millcreek spreader it works great. I empty it twice a week with two horses. We separate the manure from the wood shavings we use for bedding as best we can because it does not break down as quickly and can kill the grass in the field. This year I got the second best thing I ever bought, after my tractor and thats a dump trailer. Last year with the bad winter I could not spread the manure, so in the spring I had a mountain. The trailer woked great a 10,000lbs GVW BRI-MAR. I loaded it up and hauled it to a local farmer who put it on his fields.

I have a TC45 and it will handle about a ton on the front of the 16LA FEL without difficulty. It will handle more than that on the 3PH, so you should be OK.

The capability specifications also refer to the distance from the tractor, so if you are going to be extending far beyond the specified distance, you will likely have to carefully consider your ballast and balance if you are considering any load at or near a ton.

There's two options available depending on what you need in the way of light.

The first, and simplest is swaping bulbs as Art mentioned. In fact I have discovered the easiest way to do that is to buy a set of high intensity halogen replacement bulbs available at most automotive stores for replacing the factory 1156 bulbs in a pickup tail-light. They are available in most UAP's, NAPA's , etc., just find a car or truck that uses bayonet-style bulbs as opposed to the newer flat-style base. Cost is usually about $15.00 a pair.

The other way is to add auxillary lighting to complement the factory, or upgraded, headlights in the unit now. This is easiest to do using some form of fog or driving light kit wired to a toggle switch in the control panel. This gives you more versatility on direction, size and power of light. It is also more expensive and a little more work to install.

The deciding factors will be, how much more light do you need, and how much work & expense do you want to go to get it. If you are going to be doing snow-removal you will find that no amount of light is too much, and the closer the lights are to the snow the better, that way if it's nowing while you are working you will see the snow on the ground, not what's flying through the air.

Don't know if any of you have a wife like mine that shows horses, but if you are a life-member of AQHA, you are eligible for a 20-23% discount off the list as a starting point for most JD tractors and attachments. I am using this discount in current negotiations for a new 4710 tractor and 460 FEL. I also recommend shopping around and don't be afraid to tell a dealer they are not giving the best price. Usually, they will make a better offer.

Ken, those are close to list price numbers with out looking to far as the retail on a L-3130 is around 16000. I think beween the electric diverter valve or the spark arrestor he must have felt pinched.

Jeff just another thought on weight. I've listened to people tell me how good weight is, well let me tell you if it's the wrong kind of weight then it's just as bad as us being overweight. The newer steels and casts are far stonger then that they made twenty or thirty years ago. You are right about the loader and the power steering and it would be easier with the b-hoe on. I think a lot of the new tractors are lighter then the old and with a better weight distribution they actually pull more. There is so much to the whole weight thing for performance it can baffle a lot of people. I took five hundred pounds off a poorly set-up farm tractor and the owner couldn't believe how much better the tractor performed. Now that I've said all that in the books Kubota did put a 7.5 ft hoe on that model!!!

I know the people in Aurora you are talking about, I've dealt with them a few times over the years and I think you're being overly charitable, I would have said the backwoods of Alabama.....

Think hard about the electric cart too Dave, they are the only way you can get 4WD, and a few hoours on a genset is all you need, if you want to get lazy, get a couple sets of booster cables and let thaty big ACDelco alternator do it's thing. You get about 25 mile range on a charge and they are so fast and powerful yet so close to silent it's spooky.

That price seems to be in the ball park, but is unexceptional. There was a guy from NY recently who posted two prices he was quoted, $18050 and $18500 (IIRC), for your configuration. I doubt that CO would be more expensive than NY.

You might ask your dealer if that is the "special" price what the regular price is.

Corriher implements (see ad on TractorPoint page) sells NH at awfully good prices. You might give them a call to see what it would cost with shipping. Some people have reported saving money even with shipping and it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Personally, I place very high value on a good local dealer and it is worth it to me to pay a little extra to establish a good relationship with them.

On the B7500 the hitch can be stopped in any position you want by returning the lever to the neutral setting when the desired position is achieved. You are right in the sense that it does not automatically stop at a pre-determined setting.

Art: I thought the B7800 had a position control that is calibrated in 1/4 inch raise/drop settings. Did I misunderstand?

Assuming best case that it is an 1998 model maybe $4500 (don't count on it as these tractors do not sell well and have a less than desirable reputation) Worst case assuming a 1989 model $1200.

I live in New Jersey and we have some of the highest taxes in the country, both income and property. Property taxes in my town are about 2.1% of current market value, not assesed valuation. State taxes are about 3.8% with just about no deductions from gross

I think some of it is due to the fact that:

1)two of the countries largest cities, Phil and NY border it so we get the congestion but not the ratables.
2)Entitlement mentality runs high here
3)you have to go thru NJ to go from DC to Boston etc. We have the highest per capita police state in the country.

This leads me to a radical idea lets create some new states.

The new states will be:
1)Philly Cheese State (PCS)
2)Gotham State (for NYC)

PCS and Gotham will be formed by taking a compass and drawing a 50 mile radius circle around each. This way the ratables and will apply to the surrounding city.

We folks outside the perimeter will bask in the sun of low taxes forever ahhh how sweet.

AC: From your posts in general I figured I was addressing too basic a question but maybe it's of interest to others.

From time to time there are discussions about different length lower arms so there'd be some variation; but great similarity I think. I noticed on Mark's site that height is a spec. A good question is how standard are heights on 3ph's and on implements as well. I think that the heights determine if it's a parallelogram configuration. Maybe we'll all do some looking.

I build automated machinery for a living, not masonary walls. The question about how good is good enough always comes up when you are doing home repairs. Personally, I like to get things as close as possible, but I pay a price as it takes longer to do things with high accuracy.

The absolute best level that I own for leveling machine tools will read 0.0005" out of level over a 12" span. That is as good as a bubble level can get as far as I know. So even that grade of level is only going to be able to measure level to about 0.040 over 80 ft. You can do about as well with the water level that I discussed in my first post.

For times that I really want a level line and where I want to use a laser for quick checks, I put my precision level on a steel plate and level it out and then put the calibrated laser level on that plate and ignore the bubble level in the laser level. I use an offset block that is the height of the laser beam above the surface that I am leveling. For simple jobs I put a pencil mark on a piece of 2X4 and make sure the pencil mark bisects the laser beam when placed on the surface. If I want something more accurate, I drill a hole in a piece of metal and this allows me to more precisely level a surface even though the laser beam gets larger at a distance.

I have known guys that have torn out masonary walls because they were not level. These were new walls that they did not do the prep work to start with a level base. In this case, a problem that might have bothered you was caught with the first row of blocks. It should be smooth sailing from here on. Good Luck.

How far have you gotten the engine torn down? Hopefully it is broken rings on the bad cylinder. The other cause and I hate to say it is a blown piston (hole in crown). Are you going to try pull the engine apart with the block still in the tractor frame? You make be able to do this and re-establish a nice cross hatch pattern with a drill and honing bit/brush. If all else is OK; rings, bearings, and seals should have you on your way provided the cylinder head and deck are true. I am not sure if this engine has cylinder sleeves like the John Deeres do, but that would be nice! Hey man, sorry for your misfortune. Hope you can get it up and running on the cheap. Buy the way, if and ONLY if you feel the engine needs a little helping hand to get started and this should RARELY be the case......... think WD-40 instead of either. My Dad uses ether to start an old Case tractor he has and it will not start without it now; even on the hottest day of the year. I worked on the cold start aid for him and got it working (on this tractor it is a heating element that vaporizes the fuel into the intact track) but he had been using ether for so long that it just barely would start using the cold weather start assist. The WD-40 is not an ideal solution but is much better than ether but you have to remove the air filter to use it effectively.
