I have a Belarus 400AN 57hp with 410hrs that I bought new. How much is it worth? It is in very good shape with only a few dings on it. The only reason I am considering selling it is I need a smaller tractor with a frontend loader on it. thanks Gary

Mark it's been a while since I've been there,it was good to see it agian. When going from one manufacturer to another and depending on job and which type of draft sencing if so equipped they may want different locations yet. I see they had nothing on Cat 2 and larger and that is good because some if not most of those other than maybe Massy would all be lower link.

As far as the shear pin slip clutch goes here in central NY it doesn't seem to make to much dofference as to which way they are. I see slip clutches that are frozen up as they don't get slipped enough and I see shear bolt units that don't get sheared enough and they don't work. Most times when people use there mowers on there own land or on the same land they don't really need either system. The units might miss the annual renew and will break the gfear box instead of the safety system built in do to lack of maintence.

It's a good question and questioning always is good in itself.

I was thinking that maybe the available work only would need a bigger hoe rarely and that a smaller hoe might be better for both tractors. There'll always be jobs that are better done by contractors no matter what tractor is owned. There'd also be a risk that trade-up plans might be delayed or changed and then you might have a hoe that wouldn't be great on any tractor available. I imagine that a 7.5 hoe would use bigger cylinders so operation might be unacceptably slow if run from the largest pump a small hp pto pump could manage.

There is no idea where the price will be at the end of bidding as much of the bidding is in the last few minutes on a item that is low.

I looked through some of the Yanmar forum while I was reading another discussion. There were questions and replies about replacement pumps. I didn't notice if sources were identified, but I'd go through the forum if you haven't already done so.

You might look at repairing the pump if a source can't be found. Specialty shops can do some pretty amazing things. Whether repair is feasible would depend on the particular crack and somewhat on the type of pump. The internal cavities of rotary pumps are figure-eights so they can't be re-machined easily. A repair would have to be able to preserve the cavity and shaft alignment. Some rotary pumps use devices something like pressure plates to help seal the gear/cavity contact points. These plates can be replaceable and I think this type of design also be more tolerant to repair.

Actually that was part of the original question, "how close is close enough over an 80' length?" All-in-all, It took about an hour to adjust the first row, which is now dead-on. I could have lived with 1/2in, but an inch seemed like too much at the time. I guess I have to realize that I�m not building the Great Pyramid of Egypt (although it seems like it sometimes, when you�re lugging 115-lb blocks around). Now, only 13 more rows to go.

Murf, was talking about the new Kubota units coming out with some of the help. Wait till you see these units as they are different and I think they will be a viable unit. They don't seem to be priced to bad and they will be durable for the drive system.

Just some stats for you quickly on box style spreaders, NH's plant in pennslvania a few years back used to make about 5500 box spreaders a year. Now building Gehl spreaders to the build 1100. If perchance you find the near perfect size for you in the 130 bushel size I would say for your max I would pay up fast as there just aren't many to be had. That size dairy farm is a rareity.

The B-7800 and the B-7500 both have the same type hitch control. You would have to get to the B-2710 to have position control hitch. I don't know about California's pricing but it doesn't look to far out.

I think your post is a test for our new antique forum. Now that we have it I can't very well boost other boards and it's up to us to develop the expertise needed to make it a useful forum. I imagine that will come because there are good people here who have worked on the old Fords. I'm not one of them. My Ford is a mid-80's.

I just don't know enough about how things are laid out to comment except for the obvious thing that the hydraulic pump is driven from the pto. I can't exactly see a connection between the lift cover and pump drive though. I don't know if 'stuck' means the pto lever doesn't have free travel ahead of the engagement point or if it just won't engage.

Some pure speculation on my part that may connect the repair and problem together is wondering what would happen if the relief valve replacement wasn't right and it 'dead-headed' the pump. I think that trying to engage the pto in that case would be working a sliding gear against a very high pump load. Maybe it would prevent engagement, which would be a good thing. I don't if this speculation will lead to any useful thinking.

I'm not too long on patients so I'd probably take off the alternator output wire and start the tractor (with care that the wire isn't grounded) to see if the light still goes out.

I live in Colorado Springs...and recently returned from the NH dealer. They have a "special" on a TC33D 4x4 with SS, hydro tranny, front loader (don't know the model of the loader because it wasns't attached yet)and everything else pretty much standard equipment. They are quoting it at $18,975 for the tractor and loader. Is this price reasonable given the area I live? I've read about prices being lower elsewhere, but travel/shipping would be cost prohibitive...so I may be stuck with what I can get in Colorado. Any inputs would be appreciated!!!<br>

Ahh!!! You seem to hit on every one of the comedy of errors that I went through. I bought the tractor with about 460hrs on it; it had been meticulously serviced while in use, but hadn't been really run (twice a year start-ups only) for about 13 years. Ran great, used it for about a year, and decided I really needed to fully service it: change all filters, fluids, etc. The tractor worked hard and deserved it, and I fully intend(ed) to continue the strict maintenance regimen. Sooo, I got it all done, primed up the fuel injection, and it wouldn't start...it tried but wouldn't go. Then I grabbed a can of ....yes I did....ether, and gave it a squirt while turning it over. (no, I didn't do it while NOT cranking, I've seen what that does) and it started right up, and was blowing a little smoke. Not bad, no more than it would every now and then anyway. I let it warm up, and noticed oil BLOWING (not dripping) out of the crankcase ventilator tube. I immediately thought: OMYGODWRONGOILFILTER, (had to cross reference it, maybe it was wrong) and put the old filter on. Same thing continued. Turns out it blows about a quart every 20 minutes, so the oil volume question becomes moot, and I use CAT oils. The tractor really doesn't care as long as I put oil in it. But, it really bugs me. It only blows once it warms up. No fluid exchange in any system at all. The original owner came out to look at it, and his first thought was that it starts to easy to be rings, but he THINKS he feels a miss, and his guess was a head gasket around the #2 cylinder (why #2, I can't figure that one out...). I tried loosening the oil filler caps, checked valve lash; now I get to do a cold and then hopefully warm compression check. Then I get to take it all apart. I guess I just keep hoping for someone to say: just flip that doohickey over and it'll stop all that. I am extremely thankful for your comments, it helps to hear that my thought processes are at least in the ballpark.
Lessons for others (and myself), (10 commandments):
1. ether is the devil
2. ether is satan
3. using ether is a sin
4. high compression and ether are a bad bad combination, even if your grandaddy still uses a can a day on his old Massey-Ferg.
5. Make sure the fuel injector pump is on a cam lobe BEFORE you prime your injectors.
6. Check all cross-referenced filters with the guys in Tarlboro.
7. Check your oil level everyday. (emphasize the period)
8. Always a good idea to have someone check what you are doing, especially when you are doing it for the first time.
9. Diesel smoke ALWAYS means something, it may mean it's ok, but always notice a change.
10. Ether, did I mention ether is bad?

DR: Thanks for the good info about the quick hitch. I stopped at TSC today and looked at the quick hitch and adapters. I had wondered how well the top hook would work. It looks like the bet would be to use the top adapter and pin the way you described.

To be safe when posting you probably need to avoid any characters in the subject line that are part of what's called "regular expressions". Those are the way wildcards are expanded when doing text searches or matching. I'll bet the '#' sign in your original post messed things up. I'm not sure about Dennis' implementation, but for maximum safety you should generally avoid any punctuation in the subject line to avoid problems. Looking at some existing subject lines it seems that question marks, commas, exclamation points, and slashes work ok.

Thanks for everyones help. I see alot of discussion on the Hydro but the epowerreverser are a quite group.
After much debate, I went with the Kubota 3830 HST.I still awaiting on delivery at this time, the tractor made it to the dealer but still waiting on the Front end loader.
