Damage to the grass is not directly related to the weight of the tractor, but the pressure placed on the ground. The greater the weight of the tractor the greater the surface area you need on the ground to keep the pressure low. We have all seen the agricultural ferilizer or spray trucks with the enormous tires.
There for the question is what type of tires you have on the tractor and how much balasting do you have? Also what type of soil do you have? Here we have hard clay and I can drive my 65 hp MF with ag tires across the lawn with little damage.

We use a pintle hitch on the bucket of our full-sized TLB for moving heavy 'towables' (air compressors, etc.) around.

We tried it on one of the CUT's but it didn't work out very well. If the hitch is high enough that you can easily see it from the operator's station then the bottom of the loader mount bottoms out going through even the slightest depression. If you mount the hitch to the top of the bucket itself the problem of dragging gets even worse unless you have the trailer tongue a long way up.

The hitch on the 3pth seems to be the easiest all around.

Based on your needs and wanting a JD I do think you are looking at the right series. The 3ph and rear PTO will come in handy for many future projects that you are not now anticipateing. :) You might consider stepping down a few models to like the X485 to get to a gas engine. I would want a model that is fuel injected and does not have a carbureator. I think the X485 is the first model set up that way but I am not positive on that. This will keep you under the 10k mark and should handle all your needs just fine especially considering your future use is primarily mowing. Again the X series is a great machine and certainly should more than handle your needs. Dave

Sorry nobody responded. I'm attending to some of the unanswered posts that we now are reminded of. I can't help with the gpm rating.

Slow loader operation can be an aggravation with small tractors. The best way to get more speed is running higher engine rpm. Dump speeds can be a particular aggravation (dump speeds are usually slower than curl speeds). An after-market valve with a fast dump feature may be an alternative but a larger PTO pump probably would be less expensive. There's a slim chance if the tractor offered optional PS and several pumps may be available for the tractor.

Robbie, Zed tells of a tale I've seen before and if money was no object a nice L-5030 with cab and air with the large loader and skid steer bucket mounting to make pallet forks easy to install would be a good way to go. Then as Zed did buy the ZD to mow the lawn because the tractors to big. I have helped people with this problem before. Even the B-7800 is a little large to justify for your lawn but I know when a neighbor has a job to do I normally find myself getting the equipment to help him. I think it's a boy, toy thing. I do try to stay away from things that make my work day longer so I try to keep the lawn mowing time to a minimum.

Can't help with the part. I have fixed a cracked and melted plastic hood on my riding mower with fiberglass. It can be done fairly easily if you have a broken part. My patch has held up under for several years. They're not even too ugly if placed on the inside.

Our township has a mild version right now. The well tested positive for bacteria and the explanation was that town hall isn't using enough water. Running a tap for a half-hour each morning didn't solve the problem. Crew dug up the well and discovered a very strange one. It looked like somebody used two 30" dug well tiles on top of a drilled well casing that was buried 5.5' below grade. The cover was about a foot below grade.<br>

The well sits just outside the left field foul-line of our ball field, and that part of the field accumulates a lot of water on the surface during heavy rains. It seems like water runs around the cover and the tiles hold it on top of the drilled well casing. There was almost 2' of wet muck on top of the well head. It might not have been too bad an idea except that it's not really a drilled well. It's only one section of casing that goes down about 20' from the well head. Odd, but they couldn't pump the well dry. Speculation is that water in the tiles percolating down along the drilled casing contaminates the area.<br>

What's the connection here? Well, the tile cover was cracked and only the reinforcing mesh was holding it together. I don't imagine it got cracked from fielders diving for line-drives and I imagine a 3/4-ton driver nearly got a surprise. After we figured it out it took the Township about 3 days to motivate their contractor to get those tiles out of there and weld an extension for a pitless adapter. So now we've got a hazard sitting near the field with a picnic table over it. Figure that one out later I guess.

I like that too. I have trouble enough sounding vaguely coherent early in the morning when I'm on. I usually end up straightening out some butchered text from the previous day and regularly forget to click the 'don't notify options.' If you forget to click them off and you've posted a number of times in a long and active discussion, YOU REALLY GET A LOT OF MAIL, and some of the mail ends up being notification of your own posts.<br>

They also come from out of the blue from years ago. One popped up for me just this morning and now I have to find which of my posts has the notify option.<br>

What I'd do is go to the AGCO corporate site and click on the 'contact AGCO' link. There is a dealer finder and an e-mail address for N.A. Marketing Services. I might look for a more interested dealer, but I'd send an e-mail to Marketing Services asking if manuals are available through a dealer or directly through a publisher. Marketing offices are pretty good at passing requests to where in a hierarchy they can be best addressed.

Few corporations have their own in-house printing. The work is farmed out to independent publishers. Most likely somebody somewhere has the repair and parts manuals on microfiche. Whether or not they'd print single copies if they're out of stock at a realistic (or any) price is another question. It can be a several month wait for Ford manuals from NH.

I'd check if it has the right oil level and viscosity. Sometimes hydraulic oil, fuel or coolant can leak into the crankcase. You might try some engine oil additive such as Marvel Mystery Oil if the tractor has been sitting around a lot. Unfortunately, there aren't many simple problems that seem very likely. You might say if the tractor starts easily, runs without much exhaust smoke and doesn't over-heat. Usually worn rings create low compression and diesels won't start easily.
A blown head gasket is another possibility, which is better than an engine rebuild. A compression test might be good.

You might try running the engine with the oil fill cap off. I doubt that will change much. If you're getting blowby out of the crankcase breather tube, the crankcase is already ventilated unless the engine has some exotic sort PVC system.

For 12,000 or 12,500 I might consider it but 13500 is almost new pricing. You'll only be getting the 1 year left on the original warranty instead of the 2 you get if you buy new.<br>

I just bought the 790/419 loader/Ind. Tires with an LX-5 Rotary cutter w/ slip clutch for 14,900. Without the cutter it would have been a little under 13,900 so you are saving only $400.<br>

This dealer probably sold the unit new a year ago for 14,000 and made some $$$ and now he's going to resell it for 13,500...I don't think so.

I will be the first to admit that not everyone out there wears a size 54 jacket(my wife says I make a better door than a window) and the 790 operator space is probably the right dimensions for 90+ percent of the population. <br>

Conversely, I was comfortable on the BX (except for the ride) and other folks with different builds complained it was too dang small. Go figure.

The manufacturers normally put discounts on there over priced or over stocked units to move them out. Those without are normally the better sellers. New models will also bring on discounts on the old models and sometimes on the new units. To gain a litle more market share if available especially if the new model is built or a new factory so they can up production.

I'll take a look at some at the shop on Monday. I don't believe you should have a problem with the chains. Tires often don't match the dimensions they should to scale.

I guess you need to know if it is 2 or 4 wheel drive. The 4 wheel is 4.5-6.5 K depending on condition and about 2oo$ less for the 2 wheel drive.

I have a TC45D with approx. 110 Hrs & now am in need of the second oil cooler. One "blew" at approx 60 Hrs. Both have failed at the top, right connection where they are "soldered" into the cooler. Will discuss with my dealer tomorrow as to options & "fix". I need something done that is dependable. I have no interest in keeping a cooler on hand. It also makes a "MESS" of the radiator.
