And I though 4wd was for mud and stuff,<br>that couldn't be further from true. 4wd minimized damage to our grass when we pulled <br>out bushes & shrubs. Hydro is also well worth the money, but it can also be safer in tight spots when <br>used by less experienced guys. I have a NH 1925 hydro with 57 hours. I purchased the tractor new (5 hrs.) back in April. At that time I did not know this site existed and I was unaware of the problems people were experiencing with this NH model(mainly Farminlady). Well, I believe I am becoming a victim of the Smokin' Boomer Syndrome. For the past 10 hours the tractor has been smoking alot and this has been happening with no load on the tractor, just driving over to the wood pile and splitting wood. The inside of the exhaust is very wet and oily. I am new to diesel engines and I'm not sure if this smoke is normal. By the way, I did perform the 50 hr. break-in service this past weekend and used NH oil and filters. Is anybody else experiencing this with their 1725 or 1925 Boomers? Is there a fix for this problem, besides NH replacing tractor with the new TC series like they did for Farminlady? Has anybody else with this problem had NH replace their tractor? Any feedback on this subject would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I paid $24,700 for a 4600 with loader, folding ROPS, and R4 industrial tires. I looked around quite a bit, but when it came time to buy it, it became a matter of finding one. I was lucky. I found one in stock at a dealer who quoted me the best price, but more importantly, was very good to deal with.

Catfish,<br>Watch out for this subject, it hurts like heck to pay back taxes with a penalty. In Illinois you have to raise a crop that goes to market, like hay for example, just mowing 10 acres for example will cut it. Call a tax person in an Agricultural community for details, (they tend to know what you are talking about) Best bet to pay taxes, deprciate later.<br>

Due to the death of the owner it's for sale with an 8' rotary cutter and hydraulic blade for around 36,000. Roger,<br>List price on the machine in 1997 was about 14,460.00 probably sold for around 13,800 new. Today worth around 10,000 ONLY if it is in GREAT shape. Try $ 9400.00 See what he says.<br>Not a bad tractor, sold a few along the way.<br>

John,<br>The 1070 is no longer in production so if you are looking at one it is a 98 for starters, the 4600 is it's replacement. Speaking from experience the 1070 has been unbeleivable!!! Resale on the product is unreal and demand is still up there! If the Kubota looks like newer technology then look at a 4600, not even the same ball park.<br>

Rob,<br>Good news that you found an 855 to buy, have faith the machine is well tested and almost 'bullet proof' in my book. I manage sales for a Deere dealer in Illinois, I have sold alot of these machines and would let the tractor out of the dealership new for 13,900 all day long. The belly mower is a couple of thousand more, so to answer your question, 12,800 is TOO much for the hours on the machine, with 200 300 yeah you bet but not with 800. Don't get me wrong 800 is far from worn out (that's about 3000 in case you were wondering) BUT about 11,000 would be fair. Good Luck. JAY

Some of the earlier grey Yanmars had 3 digit model #s. Grey markets have air cleaners. Some models of non-greys have air cleaners that aren't under the hood. Some have precleaners. Most greys are under the hood without precleaners. I've had good success getting parts for greys. The greys I've dealt with are of better quality than the US models I've come across. Greys? US? there are good & bad ones of both. You have to inspect what you're buying.

I am thinking about selling my 1994 JD 855. I has 24 HP, hydro, MFWD, turf tires, loader, HD 3pt hitch, 5' bush hog, 6' finish mower, 5' box blade, 6' rear blade. This tractor has only 480 hours and has been garage kept since new. Just completed the 500 hour PM. Oil changes every 50 hours and hydraulic fluid changes every 250 hours. I've purchased a used MFWD 850 and ordered manuals through John Deere Publications. Is there any way to lubricate the front axel pivot pin on this thing? There are no grease fittings I can see, although the owners manual (which is for 850 and 950's) says to apply grease through the fittings. <br>I've checked every reference I can find, and none show how to lubricate the MFWD 850 without fittings. Do I have to take out the pin and drop the axel to grease it?
