My understanding of a single action 3 pt. lift cylinder at least on my tractor is that it only functions in a single direction with power. No cylinder piston makes a perfect seal and thus, hydraulic fluid is able to seep past the piston seals into the non-pressurized side of the lift piston. In order to prevent hydraulic lock and potentially exploding the cylinder or bending the piston rod should hydraulic relief valve fail, oil from the non-pressurized side of the piston must be vented off. Oil is indeed on both sides of the lift piston. Exactly how much is in question at any particular time. If this did not occur, the cylinder would go into hydraulic relief if too much oil was on the opposite side of the piston. I verified this with one of the John Deere mechanics at the dealer as well as my John Deere shop maintenance CD pg. 748. I agree that there is not enough oil in this cylinder to effect transmission lever more than a negligable amount.

Fisher Implement did right by me. They beat the local yokel's price by at least $2K and gave me a fair trade in on my 4100, some thing the local boys wouldn't even consider ("sell it yourself, I don't have that kind of cash flow").

I would recommend them to anyone within driving distance.

The only way that comes to mind to install a warning light on the BX would be to set up something like a brake light switch under the floor pan that activates when the brake-lock pedal is in the down position.

The real problem is the BX has a marginally effective parking brake. On both of my John Deere's you can overpower the parking brake, but there is no doubt that the tractor is struggling mightily to do it.

The BX would run right past the brake. I also found I couldn't trust the brake alone on steep hills. I had to turn the engine off AND set the brake if I wanted the tractor to stay put on an incline.

I guess part of the attraction to the system is the ease of assembly not requiring a crane or boom.
Cost wise the metal trusses that I used for my barn (see pictures) cost around 1,100 dollars for 60 x 42 ft barn on 12 foot centers. This gives you the complete truss that mounts on posts. The trusses disassemble in the middle so you can install yourself but it is tough with out a ctane.

Just sent my payment in via PayPal and should have done it a month ago or so when I found this jewel. As many have said if by getting experienced advice can save you pain on decision, money on purchase, money on preventitive damage:) it is well worth it.

We are not talking about toys here(well it will be my toy) they cost a considerable amount of money and can do some damage for the newbies....

Nope, a heated drive would deprive me of essential training. With a good ice buildup I can take an auger to the drive and practice ice fishing--aka as drinking beer while freezing.<br>

Of course if I won the lottery I could move to Iceland where ironically heated drives may be feasible. I think the Capitol is the only northern city that has free heating. That's what you can have when you live on geysers I guess. The downside is that I'd end up with a name like Leif (one of the more pronounceable). By Icelandic law, immigrants must adopt Icelandic names and I guess Leif would qualify. Phone directories go by first name and street but it's probably less confusing than it sounds. After all I've been practicing by living in a place where names and addresses are mostly irrelevant. Everybody knows who you're talking about and where they are--not where they live, where they are. We keep pretty good track of each other around here.<br>

Well, no chance anyway. I've taken the Italian expression for lotteries to heart. They are called the 'fool's tax' and I just don't contribute. I'll just have to keep practicing that fishing 'cause it'll keep me from buying more tractor toys and then I've have to build another shed. Hadn't thought about nails in all that kindling that comes from the dump.

You are right on the roll back, many of the stronger loaders have double the rollback strength as the lift circuit.

I use it but never paid attention to the brand. It's just what's at the tractor store. The main thing about the additive I use is that it contains anti-gel, which is the main reason I use it. There was a lot of -30F around here last winter. The cloud point of most #1-diesel is around -25F. It doesn't hurt that it also has injector pump lubricant for my before low-sulfur fuel engineered pump.

We forget Dieppe in 42 because it was a colossus British and Canadien screw up, that in part is why an American General named Eisenhower was put in charge of ALL ALLIED European WAR EFFORTS.....to prevent similiar Dieppes. If Dieppe had been successful, how long do you think British and Canadien troops could have been supported by Britain in 1942 after landing???? NOT LONG because that was impossible. Commonwealth support??? How many warships did the your "Queen" and your "Commonwealth" have at Coral Sea stopping the Jap advance to Australia........NONE! The United States STOPPED the Japs in the Pacific at Coral Sea and Midway singlehandidly...without 1 Commonwealth warship because the Japs sunk all British warships prior to Dec 1941. Canada had no "heavy" naval ordinance in the Pacific and the entire War because Canada relies on the US to protect them!!! The United states ended that "Commonwealth" stuff in 1776 and 1812 for good reasons.<br>

Canada was a good player in WW2, but a good player is "told" what to do. The three main allied leaders in WW2 were Roosevelt, Churchhill, Stalin. Canada wasn't in the BIG 3, but like the good lil troopers they are, they took and followed orders well. The Industrial might of the United States in WW2 ...WON the WAR PERIOD. Get over it, at least Canada was on the winning team as an important contributing player, no more no less. Lead, follow, or get out of the way, is the nature of war. It is better to get your feelings hurt and be offended while being on the winning side than to moan and groan because history didn't give your efforts the attention you thought they deserved. There is no democracy is post war historical publications, just major players, minor players, winners and losers. Canada's WW2 role was a minor player with contributing overall value as an ally. History may have slighted Canada but that is the way it goes. <br>

I am glad you are happy Mark as I was one of the few that said don't worry about it. I purchased mine for 50$ and it supplied 3 blades with it. I have used it enough to go through maybe 3 or 4 blades, like I said I really do not use it that much any more. I have cut the heavy steel roofing for the house and barn with it so can't complain as the contract insisted you needed a heavy duty rig.

I guess that I am not so impulsive. I don't mind waiting, but I want everything done right. Poor preparation and workmanship are what set me off.

There are very few dealers in NM, so pretty much everything has to be shipped in from somewhere.

The B-7500 uses a pto system much the same as the big farm tractors use. The electric pto clutches are a lawn mower clutch used on lawn tractors and garden tractors. The longevity of the electric pto clutch for some tractors is a matter of a few years. For the other system, the life of the tractor.

I have converted many former 'pastures' into golf courses over the years, even amongst us 'pro's' the opinions vary as to the best course of action.

The determining factor in my mind is always, "What do you want to achieve, and how fast do you need to get there?" and it is ALWAYS the advise I give my clients.

If all you want is a nice lawn, you have two choices;

1) Tear it up and start over, it will take two seasons minimum, probably four in total. The first season will be a lot of work and a lot of mess. If your wife is not 100% behind this don't even try it.

2) Start with an agressive campaign of cutting, feeding, eliminating weeds, overseeding and top-dressing. This will take two seasons minimum, probably four in total, but the lawn will stay 'green' with the exception of the odd bare spot from filling depressions.

A friend of mine who built a new house on a peice of vacant farm land he owned used this second method under my assistance. It had been worked by an adjoining farmer who took hay off it for his horses. The grass was thick and stringy from going to hay, and it was full of rocks and gopher holes. By the end of the first season it looked like a lawn, after another two years he started calling it the 'front nine'.
