Thanks Art, never heard of one of these. I checked out their web site - looks like its the ticket. May have to look around to rent one, seems like it might be pricey for a one-time restoration project like this. Thanks again for your advice!

Tip 'o the week time.

Your eye will detect and be drawn to aflashing light far faster than a constantly on light. It is an instinctive reaction, kind of like an animal spotting a moving item of prey but missing the frozen-in-place one.

Put a simple electronic flasher of the kind used for the turn signals in your car in line with the warning light for the parking brake. When the brakes are applied the light will flash until they are released.

I have tried my learned friend Art's idea of the buzzer, but if you spend much time with the brake on and the machine idling the novelty of that noise runs out REALLY fast, the blinking is only noticeable from the operator's seat.

Chief, there is only one thing that I've found wrong with them for some jobs or even to say many jobs or application. That goes back to there name SKID STEER! they tear everything up while turning as well as there tires!

Heck! I bought my 4410 off the dealer lot and I still had to wait 5 days while they got a loader and prepped it. You will forget about all the waiting when she arrives. ;-)

I agree with Art, plugs just don't hold up well over the long run and sometimes end up doing more damage than good. It is a royal PITA to remove and break tractor tire beads, but better get it done right.

Tom, I have set-up several front mounts to work on gravel. It does take a wider skid shoe than comes on even the best units. You can do it and it does work. You are happy with what you have and have become accustomed to it and that is fine to. Since I am beginning to feel the affects of what I've done to my body for the past x years I am not to fond of turning around( must have been the girls on the beach). I'm glad I learned how to drive tractor trailers as I can back up with mirrors quite well and after useing a three point blower last year I'm definitly not looking forward to using one again.

I to use the power service from wally world, really don't know if it's doing any thing for smoothness or such beings I've used it since the first tank in the 790.I do feel it is keepin fuel system lube well though.

The 3ph cylinder isn't a double acting cylinder and would make a difference, but probably not enough of one to worry about.

Like Art says, you establish patterns for getting the work done. I'll add that I probably tend to think of those patterns as requirements. I probably could figure how to get the work done with having a loader one end and a blower the other. I just don't want to. I'll comment on what I do and maybe somebody will get some ideas for patterns that prove useful.

In fairly short narrow parking areas I tend to blow going one direction and plow with the loader the other. It saves a bunch of maneuvering time. Part of one area is between buildings so I'd have to blow straight away from me. That's blowing snow on top of snow and I couldn't go far enough in heavy snows before the blower couldn't clear the accumulation. Also, I'd be putting more snow around buildings that lack good back grading and there'd be water in them during runoff. So, I use the loader for half of the clearing and stack it away from buildings. I pile it up 7' or higher so I need a loader. I 3ph blade wouldn't get enough height. If I didn't stack it that high, I'd have to plow far into the yard or I'd run out of space be spring.

I also clear two highway entrances and I really want to avoid maneuvering a tractor on a winter highway that has a bunch of transport traffic. I blow down the drives and then swing out onto the highway shoulder for some distance. Then I plow with the loader the other direction across the drive and along the shoulder on the other side of the drive. Finally, I do have to go on the highway to push mounds left where I stop by both the blower and loader into the ditch. I could use a 3ph blade here because I don't have to stack it very high. I do use the loader before runoff to chop down the mounds either side of the drive at the ditch to provide drainage. I don't want water to accumulate in the entrance and then freeze.

Wish I could help. One of posts the last week or so goes to a list of salvage yards, but I know that few salvage yards have many compacts. I also don't know if NH has 1200's in their parts systems of if a Shibaura crank would work. Some help I guess.

Depending on what's wrong, specialty shops can do some pretty amazing repairs but at pretty amazing prices too.

No, I sure don't. Maybe some of the engineers here can comment, but I think designing structures that contain both mild or even alloy steel and cast elements is tricky. Steel deflects under load while cast doesn't. <br>

I think the trick would be to get to some of the load before it is transferred to cast structures on the tractor and attach it to someplace else. I'm not sure that simply reinforcing cast elements with steel would do much. I have a 3ph hoe that's fairly not very big or strong for the tractor. I use it periodically but I take care not to get into testosterone based digging. I also take care to keep all the slack adjusted out of the mount stabilizers and 3ph lock-down. It's worked OK for going on 5 years. I could turn down the relief valve pressure on the hoe valve if I worried about it much.<br>

My waterpump on my MF1040 has gone out. Iam told that this has a Toyosha engine, Hinomoto built them for John Deere & Allis-Chalmers also MF. It is a 3 cyl diesel. The tractor is MF1040 Series 2969, SN00497. Does anyone know what the part # for this is?? Does anybody know where one can be bought for a good price? Thanks in advance for any help.

Yeah, if you want to save some $$$ get any color RM,FM,BB, etc. you want but the FEL is big and has an accompanying frame and when it's a different color it just looks wrong. The FEL to me is an integral part of the tractor more than an attachment. I will probbaly keep this loader on for every moment of this tarctors life. I really can't envision myself removing it, unless I get curious and take it off just for kicks. ;)

I sometimes help a local farmer and he has a nice 1969? JD 3020 with an orange new Idea loader and it just doesn't look as good. It's a beautiful tractor but all the others he has are all JD and I think the orange loader sort of takes away from the 3020.

More importantly I like that I can to one place for ALL my repairs and warranty work. I don't want to hear "the loader broke the tractor" or at the other end of the spectrum "the tractors hydraulics are off so thy broke the loader" :)

Seems like I might be giving 2 manufacturers a way out.

Plan for the worst this way you'll never be unprepared or dissapointed.

You better grab that deal and run before he changes his mind. Are the turf tires the 6 ply 25-10.5LL-15 41X18LL-16.1 ? That is a very good price for both the tractor and the loader. Does this price include loading the rear tires? Mid pto? Rear SCV?

Time for a little feedback on this saw. I used it yesterday to make a shelf in the kitchen for the "sergeant major". I mounted a Freud Diablo 40 saw blade in place of the 18 tooth blade that came with the saw. The ergonomics of the saw were VERY good. Fit my hands well, easy to hold. The light on the saw is great at lighting up what you are cutting. Another nice feature was the saw blade shaft lock button that holds the saw blade shaft while you tighten or loosen the blade. The construction of the saw although not top professional quality, was VERY Good! I used a carpenter's square C clamped in place as a straight edge to cut against. This worked well and allowed me to make nice straight cuts. The saw glided through the 3/4 inch plywood and left an exceptionally smooth, well finished cut. It came with a carrying case with a post for holding about 5 extra blades in the bottom. For $69 delivered, this is the John Deere 790 of circular saws and I HIGHLY recommend it. It was reduced from $132 on amazon.com. The Freud Diablo 40 blades gets 5 stars as well. It was $18 delivered. Bare in mind that this review was written by a guy who knows enough about carpentry to be a danger to himself and everyone around him. ;-) Overall, it is a great saw at a great price. If you tear is up, you feel so bad about chucking it in the trash dumpster. LOL!

Your talking about alot of vinegar and salt but you can mix it up and spray it out of a hand held pump up sprayer. Mix the salt in a solution of hot water as strong as possible and then add the vinegar. An old guy I cut grass for does this and swears by it. Not much if anything is growing where he sprayed it. For a sure fire vegetation killer, I would use the glyphosphate. It breaks down in the soil fast and is not toxic. (at least that is what the sellers tell the farmers).

I was reading a posting you had for a digger from Leinbach and wanted to know your opinion on the unit. I just purchasec a bx22 and am looking for a reasonbley priced rig that will last. I called and talked to Leinbach today and they have a 7200 JR. model that digs to 42". They were hesitant to recommend it for the bx because of its height. What is your impression?

Thanks all. For better or worse I've purchased the MF GC2300. Will be getting blower and blade for winter. Time will tell whether I made the right choice.
