The 4410 is new, no hours, just left over from dealer stock. It's not the Hydro model, but it has the power reverser. I don't know how this compares with a hyro stat transmission, I have no experence with either one. The loader is the 430 model with the quick attachment. Also, the price for the 4410 has the R-4 tires and are filled.

As a rule of thumb, the dealer's bottom dollar is typically MSRP minus 25% for tractors; and MSRP minus 15% for impliments. This is pretty much the dealer's botton dollar (not cost). You may find a dealer that will back off 25% on models that he is hard pressed to move but don't expect it. The more popular models that move well, expect to get less of a discount. 10 -15 % off on a tractor is reasonable and 10% on impliments. Add incentives to this as well. It would make you cry to see what the government pays for green paint. They get monster discounts! Wish I could get their prices.

Terimite Tractors are American built but are not what most whould consider compact untility tractors. They are a small backhoe loader commonly seen at rental yards. I have never seen one with a three point hitch or a PTO. Good unit for what it is but doesnot compare to a CUT except as a backhoe.
As for the TYM I may be wrong but I thought alot of the tractor was Korean. TYM is Korean. I know Scorpion and Mahindra compacts use the same platform but with different engines and I know on the hydros they use eaton. I thought most of the rest was Korean. (including the shuttle tranny) I have heard remarks the alot of the componets look like Iskei but I had not ever seen the verified. Can anyone comment factualy on this?

Chalenger compact tractors are the same as Massey or Agco. Agco has a marketing agreement with Cat. All of the above tractors I think are made by Iseki. You will find the same tractor (different #) at the Massey dealer in Pomfret. I think the dealer is called Big Boys Toys. Are you going to the Woodstock Fair next weekend? If so I will be at Foskett's booth on Sunday and Monday. I wood be glad to answer any questions I can. Just ask for "Chipperman" or "Jay"

I used to know quite a few folks down there in I guess it is called AMMCOM now. I figure most have retired. I was the Government Flight Representative (GFR) for the Dyna Corp contract at Ft. Campbell when I retired. I also worked in the Division Aviation Maintenance/Materiel Office and did contracting.

Kewl!!!! Check out the September/October issue of Truck Trend magazine. They have articles on the GM truck you show in your pics. and an International 7300 Crew Cab 4 x 4 pickup truck equipped with the DT 466 diesel. Arrrgh! Arrrgh! Arrrgh! (Tim Allen grunt!) ;-) Would love to test drive that 7300! With that DT 466 and Fuller 7 speed manual; what a torque monster. Only $68,000. :-)

plots1, I hope your 2500 HD serves you well once the initial problem is sorted out. Since Dodge and GM are represented in an unflattering light here I'll throw my Ford Ranger into the ring. It's not a big truck, but it's a bad truck. Really bad. First new engine at 20k miles due to piston slap. The second engine now has the same problem at 55k miles. Usually I don't buy extended warranties but this one will pay off. Not to mention all the problems with the transfer case, two complete driveshafts, crank sensor, exhaust system, check engine light falsing, chassis squeaks and groans they can't find and fix, tailgate that won't latch fixed twice and still broken, etc, etc. Once the extended warranty expires this puppy is gone.

I think you would be better off with a new tractor with such a small price difference and 0% financing. With the Presidents new tax bill, you can write off 60% depreciation or expense that much in the first year.

Sounds to me like this tractor is an "ether baby". Ether is EXTREMELY hard on a diesel engine and if used in an abusive or ignorant of facts manor, can crack pistons, and even bend a rod. It also causes loss of compression which is why this tractor is difficult to start. NEVER EVER use either in a diesel. Only situation I could see using it in is if the engine has thousands of hours and is already worn out and hard to start. Even then, I would say it is time for a rebuild. You don't want this tractor. If it required ether to start in warm weather. It will be nearly impossible to start in cold weather. Save your money and keep looking for a well maintained tractor. Sorry about your negative experience, but at least you found out before you bought it.

Rest of the fluids are good. When it is that hot outside, it doesn't take to long for the oil to get hot enough to evaporate off any condensation. A very good point, none the less.

Hey fellas. I just upgraded from a BX to B2410. I was led to believe that I could lock the MMM up so that it doesn't drag when I'm towing trailers or using stuff off the rear. I like having the weight of it on and really don't want to keep taking it on and off. But I see nothing in the manual and I've got a call into my GREAT dealer. But I gotta figure you guys have some tips. Thanx.

Cpt.Dave - My tractor (and land) is 30 miles from where I live, so I rarely run my tractor at night. When I have though, the lights were bright and the battery stayed charged. I have not had a battery problem since I put a new one in over 2 years ago. That is why I think mine is a relay problem rather than a charging problem.

I think there are max combined vehicle/trailer ratings for most light trucks. This idea might exceed a max combined weight rating for the truck, and you could let yourself in for all sorts of serious problems if found on a public road. It'd be good to inform yourself of applicable transport regs in your area. As Mark pointed out, most owners tend to forget about all sorts of things when estimating trailer weights.

Auto-electric shops often can rebuild tractor alternators depending on what's wrong with them. A nearby tractor dealer of any kind might be able to help without resorting to factory parts. I'd expect my dealer to try and rebuild my alternator without going to NH parts even through they should be available. Factory parts almost always are priced much higher than generic parts that may work just fine. Same is true with parts from auto dealers. A rebuilder might want to see a repair manual for the specs though.

There are drawbar wagons for tractors. Some people use standard auto utility trailers. There are 3ph gadgets that have standard trailer ball hitch receivers. A trailer can cause a 3ph to float up to its max height and break the 3ph. I think all manufactured 3ph trailer gadgets have a chain that restricts the height of the 3ph. Homemade ones should have a chain as well. You should be aware that tractors are much better at pulling that stopping. It's good to keep the speed down when going down a hill with a trailer load and avoid going across slopes.

A dirt scoop (dump may be the same thing) is a 3ph implement. You can pickup loose material by backing into a pile and then dumping it elsewhere. They are fairly inexpensive and not too painful to basically throw away if a loader is purchased later. Their main limitation compared to a FEL is that they don't lift very high and they don't hold down-pressure. You can't dig with them. I think most have a simple mechanical trip for dumping.

I use a box scraper with hydraulic top-link for most landscaping work including maintaining gravel drives. I have a FEL but I used mostly the scraper to spread the last load of gravel I got from a pile. A dump truck can't spread it if there's no room to stop. I could have gotten by with the loader. Other people do most of this type work with a FEL and I sure wouldn't want to be without mine. Among other things, I depend on it for snow removal from my gravel drives until the gravel freezes and I can use my blower.

I have 29 hours on my L3130HST with 723 loader, and find the hydro EXTREMELY useful. So far I have raked and back-dragged my 1600' drive, moved and graded about 3 yards of rocky sand/gravel, unloaded a 55 gal. drum of oil from my pickup, relocated an old snow-plow and several 10' HEAVY steel beams, hauled some wood, set a 14' 8" round post, etc. Much of this was done in less than ideal ground conditions, and the ability of the hydrostatic to just creep along over rough areas, and exactly position the load expedited the work and made it much safer. I also like the self-braking feature of the hydro. I hardly ever have to use the brakes (except for parking, which IS necessary for safety).

If I was only using the tractor for mowing or loading, I suppose one of the shuttle type transmisions would be fine, the benefits being a little less cost and and more available horsepower. But for maximum versatility, and I assume most reading this will use their tractors for multiple tasks, I strongly recommend the hydrostatic transmission.

Sometimes saving money is really not saving money.

Sometimes reconditioned means a new coat of paint.

Sometimes things turn into modified stationary money pits.

Usually, that is bad if it is a tractor and you want to do some work.

New, completely equipped tractors with three year warranties can be obtained for $250 a month.

$250 is about what it costs to rent almost anything from the rental yard for a day.

I guess you know where I am going next.

If the tractor is a hobby and you don't mind several weeks of down time at random, unplanned, intervals, maybe this will work.

But if you can't stand watching the grass grow up to your waist or your wife needs the garden tilled 'cause its time to plant, or (God forbid) there is two feet of snow on the driveway and a three foot berm left by the city plow at the end and everybody has to get to work or school.........

It is like owning a 49 DeSoto or a 56 Studebaker. It would be a lot of fun, but it is not the thing you depend upon.
