Plant red glover like you wanted to,the roots are not that deep,deer love it,it will grow in most soils.You will have to mow about anything you plant at least once or twice a year,if you want to keep the brush and stuff from taking over,just maybe keep off of it when its real wet with your tractor,since you only want to mow it as few tines as possible,that shoudn't be a problem.If the dirts real poor,put a little 10-10-10 and lime on it after you break up the top of the ground which you need to do so the seeds have some dirt to start rooting in,and after planting your seed mulch it with some straw lightly. I have hired land clearing work done and the ones I have worked with either had vastly bigger equipment and or old really beat up stuff, at least a full size backhoe, not a compact.

Also for land clearing a backhoe is Ok but not the preferred tool. I usually see articulated machines that can grab the logs and push and stack em.

Land clearing versus logging is very low paying for the work involved unless you have really big equipment then you have high capital costs

You opened up a can of worms with this one!

This "feature" has always annoyed me about the 4210/4310/4410 tractors. It is also done this way on the Kubota Grand L30 tractors. The term is a "semi-independent" mid-PTO, which means that you need to engage the rear PTO in order to engage the mid-PTO. Personally, I think this a poor design. With this configuration you can have the rear only or mid & rear together. However, you cannot run the mid-PTO only.

Many other tractors have the ability to choose your combination of PTO enagements, such as the 4010/4110/4115 and NH tractors. These tractors have a mid-PTO which is not dependent upon the rear PTO being engaged. With this configuration you can have the rear only, mid only or rear & mid together. Personallym, I think this is a safer and more efficient way of doin things.

With the 4310, if you have a MMM and tiller (or any other PTO device) attached, the tiller will be operating while you are mowing the lawn. Obviously, this is dangerous and should not be done. Therefore, you would need to remove the tiller or remove just the PTO shaft.

I worked every deal and could have bought the same truck in a 1 ton dually for around 30 3 years ago. I doubt the prices have risen that much. I joined the AL farm association to recieve added discounts. It is good to check every angle so you don't leave money on the table.

Yep, I was planning to use a trailer to haul dead wood...would I be able to do that? What is the difference between a "scoop and dump" rig and an FEL. By the way, I am having someone with a really big backhoe and bulldozer put in the driveway, so I only have to maintain it. One other thing, the property isn't flat. Nothing is terribly steep, but there are some hills.
There is also a used 7100 at my dealer. It has a cab...sort of...roof, but not glassed in. It has an FEL and a rear snowblower. It only has 600 hours (unless it has rolled over), but looks lots older than the used 7300 which has 128 hours and looks brand new.

Ok all the styling of a Unimog.
A friend here made a hauler out of a 50's Ford snubnose. He has a sleeper on the back for more room to the cab. Nice enough to make a spread in Rod Rod mag. I'll see if I can snap some pictures and post them. I will definately take your breath away.

Not trying to sound like a stick in the mud; but this is starting to sound less and less like a good deal. I have this feeling in my bones that ether has been used to start this tractor and the compression is down to the point that the owner was trying things like replacing the glow plugs, etc. Why did he replace the glow plugs? I can see replacing one or two but not all. Even if the owner used a galvanized fuel can for years and the zinc flaked off in the fuel tank; the engine fuel filter should have caught it. Fuel injection pumps don't loose timing unless someone has had it apart or been "fiddling" with it. I would suggest you look deeper into this deal and ask some more detailed questions.

I have the opportunity to buy a Yanmar YM2200, 25 horse, 2x4 that has been reconditioned in Japan. No hours since the reconditioning. No front loader or other toys included. I'm not a tractor guy and am not familiar with any brands. What would market price for this unit be? Any good or bad experiences with YM2200, reconditioned or not?

I'm pretty sure that Estate used to make mowers, but they have since gone out of busniess. I would take your old seals to NAPA or a tractor supply store - I'll bet they can match them.

I haven't bought a new tractor before. Is it customary to negotiate price, or is what my dealer gave me pretty much "take it or leave it"? I'm looking at JD, Kubota, and MF, but leaning toward JD. I was told they've sold 32 of the 2210s. They have one in stock and it would be about 6 weeks to get another one, if that makes any difference.

Wet clay can stop anything as your tires plug and spin. I have used the bucket numerous time to free my self.
Definately 4WD I would recommend something like 30-40 PTO. There is very little difference in price between a NH TC-40 and TC-33 I would go to the larger machine. I would think you want a 6ft brush cutter and under 30 is cutting it a little thin. A 7 ft takes more HP. My BH 287 requires 55 HP PTO min.

Plots. I think you might be assumeing that just because the tractor knocks less or has less noise There is better lubebricity. I think its more likely to be reduced from a higher cetane rateing just as a HP gas engine would knock with regular and not premium. The noise/comfort level on the tractor is the only reason I would use it as I will have this machine less than 2 years. On the truck there actually has to be something to "lube" to get that performance increase. You and I do not have traditional pumps that benefited so much from this stuff in the past. That was eliminated with the common rail fuel injection which is how GM got the HP/Torque increase with less noise. This year Dodge has mimicked that system on the HO cummings. Either way if I cant hear its not worth it to me to bother with the stuff. The engine is rated at 350,000 to overhaul. How much more do you really need ? dave

does anyone know of an alternative to the jd back hoes,something a bit more inexpensive? i cant really afford one if they are 5-7 grand.i guess i would have to just hire out that type of work. but it sure would come in handy and im sure i could find more uses for it than i imagine.

Good morning Tom. I edit the pics and then save to my desktop for deletion when I am through. If you right click on the picture and select properties it will give you the size of the picture.

I do have a website, just have not had time all summer to spend building/utilizing it. I am still dealing with ice storm damage, have a hand coming today to help chop roots and landscape the area where I removed four trees a couple of weeks ago. Worked on the electric for my barn yesterday and then took the boss out to dinner. Company dropped by, a few toddies later it is 0200hours, ouch! Waaaaayyy past my bedtime.
