I just got a price of $9900 for a B7500 tractor only. Is this a good deal?

You probably didn't hear about it because by then it was built in to every generator made, regardless of make, calling it a 'feature' would be kind of like saying "and it comes with spark plugs too!".

I want to add a word of caution here, septic system leach fields are a little more delicate than most people think.

The old wisdom was 'just keep really heavy things off them', unfortunately this was based on the misconception that the water coming out of the leach field was supposed to DOWN into the ground and if you drove something heavy over it the damage would be from crushed pipe (in the days of Terra Cotta clay pipes) and nothing else. In fact in a lot of cases the water does go down, unfortunately it is supposed to go UP to the surface where natural evapouration and plants, grass and ground cover type plants only, hopefully, will absorb the moisture and give it off into the atmosphere. This is why the trenches are so close to the surface.

Tom's comment about compaction below 2' (no offence to you Tom) is exactly the kind of situation you want to avoid. A typical leach pipe should never be deeper than 3' to the BOTTOM of the trench, the top of the entire setup (pipe, sand & gravel) is only a MAXIMUM of 2' down. If you compact ALL of the soil above the pipe you dramatically slow down the process of evapouration & therefore reduce the effectiveness of the whole system.

In fact one of the best, yet seldom done, things you can do is to RELIEVE the compaction over the tile field. A slit-type (or spring-blade type) aerator is the ideal for this type of operation.

When it water goes down it becomes contamination in the ground-water table, not a good thing at all.

One of the best things you can do for a septic system is to keep it covered with a healthy cover of grass and keep it well cut. This will take the most water out of the soil possible.

Just to give some feedback after reading about the risks of having too large of a bucket, I specifically addressed this with the dealer when my 410 FEL was installed on the 4100.
It was clear from all personal there that the 4100 can handle a 61" bucket w/410 FEL. I went with that statement
with no second guessing. I have since loaded that bucket to its max with wet dirt, rocks & concrete, stumps and everything in between. Once full It never showed any signs of strain or overloading. Of course I had enough ballast in the rear ( 700 lbs free weights in ballast box plus Loaded tires)and I never had it extended to its max height ( Didnt need to)..is this causing any undue strain? I see no reason to think so..
I hope this helps someone with their decisions. I have to say without this web site, I would have made all the wrong choices. I now feel 100 % confident in the machine and my abilities. The advice here is the best and eliminates the error a "newbie" can make. I thank you all for the education and advice !!

I've got a B7800 equipped almost per your specs - only difference is I have a 72"MMM. While I did compare the B7800 to equivalent JD and NH tractors, I confess that I did not really look into the 2910.
The 2910, I'm pretty sure, has cruise control, which for for my application would be handy. I have around 6 acres of fininsh mowing, and it does get a little tiresome holding down the hst petal all the time. I believe the 2910 also has a better seat, I can't comment on this other than to say that my back is still in pretty good shape after a couple hours in the saddle of my 7800. The 2910 also has telescoping 3PH links, This may or may not be beneficial. I have an equipment shed with a concrete floor which simplifies hooking up 3PH equipment. You can just grab the tire and move the tractor fwd or aft in order to hook up equipment, the telescoping links really are not necessary. If you're hooking to implements out in the woods/pasture, I know from experience that the telescoping links can be a big help. The only other difference that I am aware of is the rear mounted remote hydraulic hookups on the 2910, either you need these or you don't. I have a larger tractor with remote hydraulics, so I have not missed having this feature on my B7800.
One parting comment: If you have very much mowing to do, consider the 72"MMM. I love mine, it allows you to mow close to tress, around flower beds, etc. The tractor will pull the 6' mower with ease, I've cut 3 - 4 ft grass with mine, with no problems at all.

Thanks for your input on your 46 hoe.

My Dealer got back to me and they are checking with Deere techs to see if this is a common issue and if they have a correction. He said in the mean time to un-mount the hoe and check the mounting plates and retorqued the bolts.

It would be nice if these steps were removable. If they didn't provide function for you application you could just take them off. Then again maybe mine are acting as mud and dirt scrapers for the tires.

If I or my Dealer find anything I will post back.

R-1's are made to order for damp or wet soils and pasturelands. They are worse than useless on dry loose soils.

Even if you live in an environment that would normally call for R-1 tires, your tractor must be heavy enough to push the cleats into the soil all the way to the body of the tire.

If you can't get the cleats fully engaged, you should entertain the notion of a different tire.

If you get SuperSteer be very careful with the loader. My dealer told me not to get it because I use my loader on hills. SuperSteer effectively makes the front of the tractor more narrow when you turn - allowing it to tip over more easily with weight in the loader. I didn't get SuperSteer but still find the tractor able to turn very sharp and it's very maneuverable.

Actually Tom it wasn't squat to do with the cost, Uncle Ernie was gearing up for an expected election call at the time the decision to RENT these gen-sets was made, I guess he didn't envy having to campaign in the dark.

I second Art's comment entirely, there is no reason you should have any leakage at all other than a little dribble when you connect or disconnect the line set.

Also check there isn't just some debris inside the female socket preventing a perfect fit.

I'm not great with the features of the computers as far as getting you pictures but I think you need the owners manual for what you need. The 3000 series would probably double the distance of your 125. I would also say we put a lot of chains on them as well a s the weights. If you are keeping the Drive really clean you might want to try it with out chains but 99% are with them.
