My tc 18 has 35 hours on it. I hooked up a brand new 4' king rotary mower to it and started cutting a 2 acre lot. At first there was great power but as a time went on it began to become sluggish almost to the point of shutting down. This would happen on a random basis. To get the rpms back up I would have to stop put the tractor and pto in neutral and then it would slowly build back up but again would lug down again soon after. I was wondering if it might be fuel. I topped off the fuel before I started mowing with fuel from a 250 gallon tank. The tank was filled earlier that day and it had an antibaterial cleaning addative added. Might this have contaminated the fuel ? Any thoughts ? Thanks

Art, I would say dirty air is air that is drafted into the radiator with debris. I am not knocking kubota at all. It just seems there are two schools of thought each with their own draw backs. How does the Kubota stop from picking up debris when drawing the air that way ? New problem or or old it just seems to me at least to lie somewhere in the maintenance zone. I cant speak for others but even with a front mounted fan there is no hot air blowing on the operator at least that I notice on my machine.

Ditto. The Jd is a lot cheaper and a easier to get. I cant really ever remember hearing anything negative about another oil so I am going to pass on them entirely. Thanx to to tip from Mark I may try the Rotella T for the engine. I started to wonder about the Break in oil today plots and I wonder if they use different oils from the factory as we have different machines. What is the capacity on your engine ? Mine is only 2.1 qts. Looking back it is plain to see I have a serious case of IDNS ! And selective CRS.

Hi,

I'm looking to buy a compact tractor. After looking at JD 4010 and Kubota BX, I'm thinking the Cadet 7264 is best/most tractor for the price. Any feedback on this tractor is appreciated. I plan to mow 3 to 5 acres regularly with the 60" deck, will need to snowblow 350' driveway with considerable drifting also. I'm wondering about the "on-demand" 4-wheel drive as compared to the straight 4-wheel drive offered in the 7260 and 7265.

Before you get a 4 gpm unit you may want to make sure you have 4 gpm available at the hose bibs you want to use with the pressure washer. Take a 5 gallon bucket and run water from your hose bib for a minute to measure the flow. I wanted a 4 gpm unit but our hose bibs barely eke out 4 gpm and I wanted a safety margin for when pressure drops due to showers, washing machine, etc.

On my B2710 you have two control levers for the pto's,one for the rear and one for the mid.You just pin the mower in the raised position and then use the three point like normal no need to unhook the pto shaft.I beleave the B7800,B2710 and B2910 are all the same.

I should have bought then and did some of the fill, grade and plant work myself instead of hiring it out. then I might be able to afford a $5000 tree spade. <br>
I now have friends with kabuta's, deere's and new holland's full size and compacts and they are all good machines It is just how much power ,how many bells and whistles you want, and keep working the best deal. this one will not finish mow It will rough mow 4ac. till, light loader work, post holes, and hopefully move trees. we have 7.5ac and two horses, I want to build another pole barn,this one myself for myself. and a small greenhouse. <br>
In spring of 1999 we bought and planted 350 trees planted them all together to make it easier to take care of them, as advised. I have moved and/or killed about 50 of them by hand. So this tractor will solve my tree problem one way or another, remember that rough mower and tiller I talked about. Anyway good luck with your tractor puchase.

it sounds like the ratchet and the rack on the pedel might be out of alingment.when you step off you put pressure on one side and it slips off.look under the floor board to see if everthing is square.good luck

valid points on weight and hydraulics, but these things shown on skidsteers all over the place and I don't see them weighing more that a compact with loaded tires, and skidsteers hydraulic systems are that much stronger? I found a couple makers of 24" hydraulic tree spades with 3ph hookups but we are still looking at $5000 plus, and one sites spec. sheet stated for 45hp and above tractors, which appears to be a very general spec. Since I will not spend 5 grand and my tractor is to light I'm back to the $2200, 24" tree toad which only uses tractor hydraulics to lift and carry ,and set,the tree, more research required, hey Willie H, I will buy it, move my trees and, then sell it to you <br>

Help, can someone tell me the right valve to use on a Yanmar 155D tractor with a new FEL. I,m ready to complete the hydraulic hookup, but am now told that this might not work. The valve I would like to use is a double spool type,open center with a single acting spool installed on one side to accomadate the single acting lift cylinders.
Pressure line enters the inlet side of valve, and exits from outlet side and continues back to the 3 point hitch
valve. Will this work or do I need power beyond type valve.
Will the 3 ph work when loader is not being in operation.

wish I would of went with the 6 footer , having some blade outside the tires would make grading go a lot easier as Tom stated.

My folks were in a brush fire in California that burnt houses to wiothin a block. It didn't take them long after that to take off the shake roof and put on a tile one at considerable expense. Attractive and incombustible (not withstanding the walls and very wide-eaves mentioned). I never was sure how I felt about having that much weight over my head in an earthquake area though.

AC: The two minutes idea still may be a pretty good target. I think the reality is that direct attack has to be successful in a very short time or it's not going to work. We have two 1.5" hoses mounted on our pumper with fogger nozzles just in case we can knock one down. More frequently a fire is established when we get to it and we use 'surround and drown' techniques that require more water and pumped over longer periods.

Thanks for the pump explanation--that's what it probably is. I do think that 28gpm is pretty small high pressure or not to be really effective for direct attack. However, the pump is what I'll likely end up with if I can't find a bigger one that's priced around $500.

It might be worth noting that our Volunteer Dept. also has to deal with low flow water sources and you can't drive the pumper close enough to many sources anyway. We purchased a folding 1,500-gallon water tank. The idea is that a portable pump fills the tank continuously and the pumper pumps from the tank. However, this type of thing probably is what fire services rather than individuals should have.

Aha! Clever; and I said I was into small tricks yesterday. The plastic ends up on top too and that's even better. Salvaging topsoil is a problem and there's not much of it around here to start with.

I imagine that some dirt might have to be pushed off the top first for deep trenches or the tarps would tear. No problem real problem and much easier than pulling plastic out of the hole. That's what I'll try next time. I suspect that I might need something wider than 4' for deep trenches to get enough wrap around.

Last fall I broke 1/4" hardware store plastic rope while dragging a huge pile of leafs in a large tarp. I guessing that with 3/8" rope the tarp probably would have torn. Army tarps probably are tougher than box store ones though.

Thanks Mike! I just bought a 29D, hasn't even been delivered yet. After reading the 29 vs. 33 postings I was getting a little scared that I'd made a mistake. My dealer never even tried to get me into a 33, said this'll do everything I'll ask of it (7308, Bradco 3375 bh, 60" box).
