cooleydd, I have a TC30 and I took an standard ball-mount for an automotive hitch and made a nice fixed drawbar that extends out about 8 inches farther back and two inches higher than the 'standard' clevis hitch. The cool part is that you can attach and remove as needed with a simple pin. I am sending pictures to your email address.

Any chance that the fluid spec in the book is relating to the tractor without the FEL. While you were refilling, maybe more was needed to replenish as the FEL circuit was bleeding itself and refilling as well, rather than just the tranny.(?)

plots1, I have a 55 gal. drum of John Deere 15W-40 Plus 50 in the basement and that is what she gets engine wise along with the John Deere filter. Don't know where the 0W-40 synthetic came from?

I have used my equipment trailer for a lot of brush moving. You can place the trailer quite effectively with the tractor load it and then bring it to the truck for the trip to the dump. My trailer was $900 for a tandem axel equipment trailer. It certainly has paid its way.

On the NHTC30 (and most other tractors the lifting rod of the PTO on the right side has the ability to screw up and down. This is not true on the left side - why? Would it not be handy to have one on both sides? The left rod has adjustable bolts to change would not a screw be easier. Would one fit?

You gan get the same tractor in N. Carolinia for $17,000. You will have to add extras for the HD bucket, remotes,engine heater and R4's. I would think the extras would be about $1000.00, if the remotes are only a few hundred dollars. How much are the remotes, anyway?

Yup. It was that flat floor surface problem that lead me to the hand truck. It goes "off road" pretty well.

I have been shooting trap for about 30 years. I started out with a 1100 Remington. It is a fine gun. I presently shoot my Browning BT99 or my Browning Citori Ultra Trap over and under. I also have a Winchester 101 Pigeon Grade Trap over and under.

Doing much better thanks, but now I live under a VERY strict set of rules which includes my diet, exercise (limited, but increasing gradually) and work. I am 'rationed' in everything, computer time included, and was completely barred from the office (by my wife & doctor), I get daily reports from my EXCELLENT staff.

Hopefully I'll be out of 'retirement', at least on a part-time basis later this summer.

I am new to the "tractor world", but excited about getting in it. I'm a city guy who just bought 10 acres. My new neighbor said I should look for a minimum of 30hp. Does that sound reasonable? I'm in the process of purchasing a compact tractor to maintain this acreage (primarily mowing wild grass and cleaning up dead trees,etc). I have a Deere lawn tractor and am very pleased with it,but unless I'm missing something, I don't see where Deere has anything close in price/specs ratio to the B7800. Specifically, having 30 hp,hydrostatic tran, and wet brakes. It look's like I can get a B7800 w/loader for $15,400 plus $850 for a 60' rear mowing deck (bush hog). Is this a good price? Is a rear deck the way to go or should I consider a mid deck? And finally, the acreage is not level, so are there weights,ballasts, etc. that I should get to give me the safest "platform" to operate on? Thanks for your advice.

The McLeod rake/fire tool is the name of the tool that I always see the wildfire fighters using around here.

I will order one of those pumps. They are on Backorder now. Based on the time (2 minutes)that Tom referred to before and the flow rate of the pump, it might make sense with a 50-100 gallon tank on the tractor 3PH. I know that it is not a lot of water, but you can carry it where you need it and it sure would beat those backpack units from the same wildfire equipment website.

I have a 600' or so bank where our driveway was cut into the side of a hill, not sure of the angle/% grade, but I know it took a lot of body english when cutting with my 3813 Honda rider mower. I tried out my new B7800 with 72" MMM on the same slope, and it was somewhat more stable. Given the weight of the MMM deck, the CG or your tractor is likely slightly lower than your mower - catch is your odds are much beter to walk away from a lawnmower rollover.
I agree that mowing up and down is the way to go where possible, however, in my case I have a fence at the top of the hill that prevents mowing in this manner.
