I have a B1550HST and would like to add front weights to offset rear implements. I have Bi-Speed turn on this tractor. After adding front weights should I turn off the bi-speed turn? Will leaving it on and adding weight to the front wear something out?

I wonder what the definition of defective oil is ? In my experience most engine failures occur for the following reasons.

1. Poor maintenance. ie not changing the oil when you should, or not keeping the oil or coolant up to the proper level.
2. Overworking the engine. which can overheat the oil causing breakdown of the oils properties. would this be defective oil or normal for the oil if it is exposed to abnormal conditions ?
3. Defects in manufacturing or design of the engine.

Just curious, It sounds like Deere has its bases covered from a legal aspect, but then the Deere lawyers seem to be a very important part of their corporation :)

OK, I misread that table (it's not real clear). I assumed the number in front of the dash was the bucket capacity and the number after the dash was the pivot point capacity. So, I was reading the 7308 as 875 lbs in the bucket and 1020 lbs at the pivot point, then comparing that to 1090 lbs at the pivot point for the 12LA. Apparently, they are saying that the 7308 bucket capacity ranges from 875 lbs to 1020 lbs, depending on what tractor it's installed on. So, we can't compare apples to apples using that table because they don't show the bucket capacity of the 12LA and they don't show the pivot point capacity of the 7308.

Here is the warranty statement Pacesetter refereed to:

John Deere Company guarantees Plus-50 Engine Oil will meet or exceed the performance needs of diesel engines. Regardless of hours or miles, John Deere Company will pay for any damages (parts and labor) to your engine which are caused by an oil defect so long as:

The oil defect is verified by oil analysis.
The engine oil used is confirmed to be unadulterated and non-contaminated Plus-50.
Plus-50 meets the engine manufacturer�s specifications for the service and application.
The engine is used under normal operating conditions and maintained according to manufacturer�s recommendations.
To secure warranty service, report the product failure to an authorized John Deere Dealer.

To make a claim under this warranty, it will be necessary to provide the following, as part of the technical investigation:

Records showing that the engine was serviced according to the manufacturer�s recommendations.
Submit an oil sample for the failed engine for analysis to determine if oil is defective.
Make available the failed engine.
John Deere disclaims all liability for indirect or consequential damages.

Your rights and remedies pertaining to this warranty are limited as set forth herein. Implied warranties of merchantability and fitness are not made and are excluded.

Pretty interesting stuff. Might be worth the extra cost. Not so much for my homeowners tractor which averages less than 100 hours a year, but this might perk up the ears of those of you who have diesel pick-ups and really high use farm equipment.

Congrats, I think you'll be fine with the 40. There are a few instances where it ISN'T cost effective to go the next larger. IMHO, TC45 is one of them. Others are the JD4410 over the 4310 and the Kubota L3430 over the L3130. Once you get it on the property, it won't seem as big as it did at the dealers.<br>

The point is getting ripped off by being charged $83 for a $10 filter. I know businesses need to make money but they don't have to make it all on one sale.

Black Creek Pioneer Village in Toronto preserves many original Mennonite farm buildings. For people who happen to be near Toronto or similar sites elsewhere, it's worth the trip just to see the timber framing. Massive hand hewn square timbers, and the timbers are often joined by joints usually seen on old furniture--all hand cut. The design probably is overkill but it sure is impressive. I imagine it would be difficult to find anybody to work with that retained the skills needed to do this type work.

Actually, we've been loosing skills for a long while now and are maybe getting to be a bit like Medieval Europe. Thirty years ago in Pennsylvania a dome on a public building sprung a leak. Nobody knew how to fix it. Somebody agreed to come out of retirement long enough to train and supervise a crew. Wonder what they'd do now? Ancient cities that were build over centuries and civilizations have disappeared within 30 years and not due to external invasions. You never know what you've lost till it's gone. Historic perspective can keep us safer than present fashion.

A neighbour within earshot had a well drilled to replace a dug well that was going dry (lot of that around here the past few years).

Lots of noise and smoke for days. A few days later the noise stopped. Story is that the driller got impatient and used some dynamite and then went back to drilling with a very expensive rotary bit. Rock shifted and trapped $10 or $20 thousand worth of equipment in the hole. The driller tried for several days to get the bit free and then nothing for weeks. Story was that the owner was worried he might have to pay for lost equipment. Some types of contracts with drillers are called 'easy-dig' contracts. The cost per foot is less than for regular contracts but costs go up if the hole has problems, and owners may be liable for equipment damage or loss.

It's worth knowing about down-side risk stories and really reading contracts before taking low cost drilling contract. Our neighbour could have paid for a well that was dry plus pay for lost equipment. The driller eventually did recover his stuff and the well is working so I guess everything worked out.

Willie's neighbour could end up having a real liability even if the well starts producing water. Things that don't come up to codes always can become problems. You can't do much work on them unless their brought up to code and future regulators may not be 'who you know'. Grandfathered non-complainant approvals may not transfer to future owners. At best you can't do much work on them without brining everything up to code. Besides, who'd want to buy such a property. It's real hard to believe that a poorly maintained septic system wouldn't start affecting even a deep well that's only 25' away. Actually I wouldn't buy any rural property without having an environmental inspection done. I can think of a dozen or so nightmares or potential nightmares from around here and several of the potentials were ours.

Hi all,

Looks like we'll be spending some time together. The Kioti DK40 & DK45 are now being sold by Cub Cadet and marketed as model 8404 and 8454. The manufacturer of each is DaeDong, of course. So, I guess you could call us family!

Your 417 loader is made by Woods and resold by Cub. It will fit these models 7234, 7235, 7260, 7265, 7274, 7275, 7300, and 7305. Of course, the 476 is the new version loader and is more rigid than the 417. The 475 is smaller and only fits the 7000, 7200, and 7205. I strongly reccomend the 7305 (30hp hydro with the either 417 or 476). Good Luck! -CubGuy

I have a Wood's subframe mounted backhoe and when I take my backhoe off the subframe has a place to mount a trailer ball. No muss no fuss, just good engineering to do what the removed draw bar was intended to do.

Heather -

Having several oranges about the same size as your 2910, I too trailer. I have a box frame car trailer, with 2x10 wood deck, that measures 16' long. Having the backhoe on the orange, I have about 8" of open end space left when all is lowered to deck,FEL and Backhoe. If I were you, I would bump up to an 18' trailer. Two feet will not make a big difference in price at all, however the weight displacement with a full load will be better presented.

There are actually many good used trailers available. Check out the bargain news papers, such as "BARGAIN NEWS.com", or "TRUCK and EQUIPMENT TRADER.com, or MACHINERY TRADER.com for starters.

FYI, there is a used 16' beaver tail open deck with side boxes available near by...if you would like, I can get the info for you.
Otherwise, for a new trailer, I have purchased a tandem dumper from "Upper Ten Trailer Sales" in Hinesburg VT. Very accomodating, and easy to find off 89.

There are no rebates on the 2210 itself, but there is one on the implements. $200 for each implement ($400 total). Any 2 implements count (MMM, FEL,..etc.)

The pictures are of my most recent barn build. I built over an old foundation for the house. The barn is 60 x 40. I placed a wing walls on the edge of the center bay to strength the structure. We are in tornado alley we have had 3-4 in close proximity in the last 3 years. I figured that I wanted to protect my investment.

Anyone know what the largest single deck finish mower is? The largest I have seen is from Frontier at 90". I have a John Deere 4610 and want a large deck. OR what are the plusses and minuses on triple-deck mowers?
