Growth I guess...I hate having a machine that cannot do everything I want it to...but the size is a concern..maybe too much tractor?

Got my 850 a few years back, completely set up as a mower...72" bellymower, turf tires, etc. No 3 pt hitch arms. I later bought from a complete hitch system with lift arms, draft arms, sway chains, etc, said to be from an 850...it all nbolted right up.. Now my problem, just this spring one of the turnbuckles on the sway chain broke. It's 4 3/8" long and threaded for 14mm RH/LH. My tractor serial number reveals a parts schematic with all parts (chain links, clevis, turnbuckle, etc) easily identified and confirmed EXCEPT that JD part number CH13439 provides for a turnbuckle that is 7 3/8" instead of the 4 3/8" required. Numerous inquiries to JD have proved unsuccessful. Suggestions,comments?

I've been reading some of the discussions about the 7308 FEL. I was just looking at the NH specs on their web site:<br>

The 12LA, which is for a Class I Boomer, is rated HIGHER than the 7308, which is for a Class II Boomer! Can someone explain this?<br>

Kris,

I was looking at the oktractors website. Did you get a New Holland FEL, or the Bush Hog M146 that he has advertised with the tractor? If you got the New Holland what was the price of the loader separately. I need something that will cleanly clear a 8 ft wall, it doesn't appear that the Bush Hog will, but the NH7308 will.

Rotella is very popular. I currently use Valvoline Pre. Blue, 15W40 formulated for Diesel's from Walmart.

The voltage test described by slowrev basically checks the regulator. If the battery can be assumed to have normal internal resistance and the alternator is OK, then the regulator is working if the voltage doesn't exceed a speced value above idle rpm's. My shop manual procedure calls for 15.5V measured when there is a 30A load (for a 35A rated alternator) on the system and after burning the headlights for a minute before the tractor is started. Conditions where the regulator has to regulate have to be created for the test to be completely valid. Other tractors may have different specs.

If the voltage output test fails the shop manual procedures go on a current output test and if that fails there are a series of other tests for the regulator and alternator. The tests are easy enough but shop manual procedures should be followed. Creating a 30A load may be a little tricky without a carbon pile, but then the 30A's isn't exactly rocket science.

I started out thinking that I didn't want to maintain a bunch of standalone small engine stuff but that's what I ended up with. We had two lengthy power failures last winter at night at below -0F. I was glad I didn't have to swap the snowblower and a pto generator in the cold and dark.

That's an argument for a standalone generator. However, I guess I do need to put a bit more time into maintaining it. The first failure was during -10F to -15F and the generator was unhappy with the idea of starting. Running it a few minutes a month and keeping 10W-30 oil in it didn't do the trick and I probably couldn't have started it without warming up the shed with a propane burner.

I wonder if the 20HP speced for the 7KW generator is engine or pto HP and I wonder if the 7KW is peak or continuous. 2HP/KW is a fairly common allowance for peak powers and 20HP for 7KW is a generous but probably desirable allowance. In theory, 1HP produces nearly 750W.

When I removed some sod I used my box scraper scarifiers just deep enough to cut through the sod in one direction and then repeated going across the cuts so I had squares of cut sod. The box was rolled up and held off the ground with the 3ph. I repeated going across the cuts to sort of make squares of cut sod. The squares mostly pulled off the soil with the box rolled down and the scarifiers retracted. It wasn't quite as neat a process as it might sound but many of the sod pieces were large enough to be used elsewhere. The soil is sandy here and I don't know how well it'd work on clay.

A loader tooth bar should be capable of cutting sod but the teeth would be pushed through the sod rather than pulled through like with the box. The tendency would be to jack-knife the tractor and loader, which would lift the front and remove most traction from the front tires. The rear tires probably would spin frequently. It might work better with the lift in float, but if the bucket digs in too much the bucket sticks and the tractor jack-knives over the bucket. Actually it's pretty easy to break a loader doing this sort of thing, so ground speed should be slow.

I've owned a JD 4400 and talk about junk, that would be the one, but my Kubota 3710 HST that took its place has never once let me down. Strong and well thought out (don't let me forget to mention made of metal) my Kubota is about the best thing I've bought in years. I wouldn't know how good my dealer is. You see since the Kubota hasn't broke down I haven't needed the dealer. In the CUT class, this is a real machine.

Bernie, fortunately I didn't pay a "Deere price" for the brackets (the forks were enough). I've often thought of attaching them to things like 3PH forks. Forks for the 3PH are cheap compared to the forks for the loader. But a set of those brackets could turn the 3PH forks into loader forks with no bucket required. They'd be easier to attach and not as tippy as bucket forks. It also makes me wonder why they charge so much for loader forks!

I got kubota's B40C tiller for my BX22 and I love it! My soil is clayish with lots of stone(virgin soil). I take it slow and when I hit a rock I lift it, turn around and put the loader to work. It goes though my garden(previously tilled) like butter and perfectly prepares the soil in one pass, and in these areas a larger unit wouldn't hurt. But for me the "40" is more manageable in the virgin areas. It's your call. Good luck!

Hey Guys I'm new to the board but I have learned alot in just the last few days. I'm was selling my JD 750 4wd and getting ready to purchase what I had thought would be the perfect replacement, a TC33D and was going to wait for the new 14LA FEL when it came out! Now I don't know what to do?
Is there any way to confirm if the 14LA will fit the current TC33D? The TC35 is little big for my use, maybe I should reconsider it or wait on the new TC33D purchase all together until new models come out?

I believe I'd be looking at the next series up, the TN's. They compare favorably price wise to the TC series. I think even the 3010 would be a better choice than the TC33 for your use. Unless you are looking for something to finish mow and clean out the barn.

The number stamped on the tractor is YM155D-55830. The model 1220 apparently was given to it by Great Bend Manufacturing Co. I do not know how one model number is associated with the other.

Actually, the one in the Falls is one that I had looked into. Only an hours drive. Im not in any need of parts but wanted to cover myself if i needed something in hurry, so far seems like should not be a problem. Local dealer is very helpful and has given me some tips.
