Are you doing the job with Wheel Horse you have listed??? I have a BX-1500 and it so much more tractor than any 2 wheel garden tractor. It is not much different than the 1800, i do not mow much on incline though, what little I have is no problem. I can't help with the PHD but I think you will need a shorter auger due to 3PH lift height on the BX tractors.

I am considering either a John Deere 2210 or a MF GC2300 and would appreciate any input I can get to help me decide what to buy. I wasn't aware of the 2210 model until I started out looking at the X595 garden tractor.
The 2210 seems to be a better value for me since both models are the same size and similar in power. The base model 2210 is less expensive and it includes a 3-point hitch and rear PTO which are expensive options on the X-series. The only drawback seems to be a bigger turning radius for the 2210. Anything else I should be aware of?
As background to my thinking about tractor size, I mow about 2 acres of smooth lawn with few obstructions so I'm planning to get a 60/62" mid-mount deck. I have a 400' asphalt driveway with about a 50' rise so a 2-stage snow blower is in order for Connecticut winters along with a front end loader for general maintenance work. I just received a deposit on my Simplicity Legacy that was the same wheelbase/width and had similar attachments, but I want to upgrade to 4WD and diesel.
I looked at the Kubota BX too, since all three tractors are so similar, but I found it a bit uncomfortable to use the hydrostatic control with my 6-3 height and long legs. The MF is also a rocker pedal design but it seems more comfortable.

I have a JD 750 Compact Diesel. It's unstable because of narrow wheel base.
I am looking for a kit to widen the wheel base by 2" on each side? Is one available or are you interested in producint one like I've described here?

This kit for each pair of wheels would consist of:
two 1/8"-thick 4" long Steel Swaged Cylinders. Half (2") would fit over the hub, the remainder swaged down to fit inside the center hole of the wheel.
12 Lug Bolts (grade 7) 3-1/4 to 3-1/2" long for rear wheels and 12 for front wheels
12 2" spacers for rear lug bolts.
12 2" spacers for front lug bolts.

There may be a market for this kit and if you are interested in producing it, I will provide AutoCAD drawings of the parts in exchange for one complete kit for front and rear wheels.

the drum fits snug against the four bolts that hold the outer rim ring on , then i used all thread in factory square holes on inner rim to hold in place. It's alined perfect the way it fits inside the four bolt holes on outer rim. look at pic. air valve is on inside of rim appling air is no problem. Its not the greatest thing since toilet paper or nothin but for $35 its going to be fine. ther is no play at all the way they mount between four outer bolts , had to push firmly into place I drove it around in yard before I installed allthread and they never moved,but allthreaded to be sure they never do move .

Hello, I live in North Carolina and I bought my tractor from OK Tractors from Ted the owner. I have a TC33D and just love it. You can talk to him for they ship anywhere ans since you live in a different State then NC you won't pay sales tax. The only differents between the TC30 and the TC33 is that the TC30 is a TC29 on steroids, were the 33 is a completely diferent engine.<br>

I think they limit it for some reason, just hard to know exactly why. Tires, front axle strength? Maybe the loader bracket attachments?

It would be interesting to test some tractors to see if the limitations are published and not real. For instance my BX will lift one hell of a lot more weight with the 3 point than the brochures say, but you should see what it does to the rear tires.

I own an L3010. It's used on our ranch in deep south Texas. As it is very hot, I wanted to purchase some sort of easily removable shade device. The tractor is used where low clearance is a must. If I buy a Kubota canopy, I'm afraid it would not last due to working in low clearance conditions such as tree branches. Also, this unit is equipped with a backhoe attachment. When using it, shade would be nice also. Any suggestions?

We operate a horse farm with stable and large pastures. We are preparing to purchase 2 new tractors for the farm and after looking at the Orange, Green and Blue machines, have decided that Blue is our favorite color...

TC40D as the larger machine with hydrostat transmission, 16LA FEL and R4 industrial tires.

TC33D or the TC30 as the smaller, more compact tractor with hydrostat transmission, 7308 FEL and R4 industrial tires.

The NH 758 Subframe 8.5'Backhoe for the TC40D

The NH 757 Subframe 7.5'Backhoe for the TC33D or the TC30

What are the best prices each of you have found on these tractors and backhoes. I'm in WA state and the prices out here appear to be quite a bit higher then what I have seen in postings here. This is a fairly large purchase and I'd like to negotiate a tough but fair deal. Not sure what to do.

Also, please help me understand what exactly is the difference between the TC33D and the TC30. Is it just fancy sheet metal and convenience features? Are the engines, gearboxes, hydraulics and machine weight/durability the same? How valuable is SS?

CDCole, I really appreciate you tale. I have done exactly the same thing but fortunately it didn't get away.

My ongoing, but getting better, struggle stems from the fact I have two tractors which receive about equal usage. One is a gear transmission and the other is HST.

There is a cognitive dissonance that occurs when the tractor does not stop by releasing the pedal as usual.

I think it takes about three times longer than the normal reaction time to shift your brain out of autopilot and do something else to stop the tractor.

I have a JD 850. I have noticed when I am using the tractor or after shutdown I smell a rotten egg odor coming from the battery. I have an idiot light that shows no indication of any problems in the charging system. The battery is a maintenance free battery, and the tractor does not seem to be malfunctioning in any manner. The tractor starts up first time with no problem. Any ideas or suggestions? Is there anyway I can check to see if the battery is overcharging, and the alternator is working properly?

Mark: I can sure see that happening. I have about 45-degree slopes my drive fills across a highway ditch. I stored some fill on it that I later needed. I not only wanted the loader on but a full bucket of gravel in it when I was coming up the fills and had my box scraper on.

I get the same effect on level ground with big weight on my 3ph forklift. The first couple of times I realized OOPS I have virtually no steering and put a bunch of cement blocks in the loader. Now I just fill up the loader as a matter of habit. Actually I use the steering to judge if the ballast is right front or back. If I have to work to steer the tractor then I know I need more 3ph weight. However, heavy steering probably isn't a very good test for most people. My PS isn't near as strong as on most newer tractors and I don't have loaded rear tires. Weight in tires doesn't change the steering like weight on the 3ph.

I think this is a good discussion. A good idea that comes from it is that proper ballasting for a tractor depends on the particular job it's doing.

My reason for positing my original message was to inform the public of JD factory people's awful attitude toward the safety and reliability problems I mentioned and make the buying public aware of the problems that I have had. I am not even sure I have a big problem with JD dealers -- they didn't design the transmission or the hydraulic cylinder or write the service manual. One might have installed the wrong size tires however.

I am sure that many of JD's products perform satisfactory, especially the older ones, but one commercial user that I know who has JD, Ford, and Massy tractors in the 100 HP range (mowing highways) says his JD has more downtime than all of the others combined.

I do believe JD is going the route of IBM, and they may learn the same lesson. Anyone who does not listen to their customers is in for a rude awaking, especially with the power of internet to inform the public about problems. You are reading this, right?

I do have a very strong background in reliability, safety, etc. I spent two years as an Army Ordnance Officer, then 28 years with NASA. It's interesting that one person mentioned IBM. In fact, I was one of the primary people who designed/architected the IBM mainframes out of the new control center for NASA. It was a dedicated mission of mine to get their computers out of there because of their cost, their attitude, and because they had no interest in interfacing and integrating with local area networks and workstations. (They do now, lol) The last mainframe was removed some time ago, and I cheered. IBM did have very reliable computers, however.

More background: I have had many people work for me in computer systems, both hardware and software designers, plus QA and reliability. I have been responsible for a huge building full of electronic equipment for maintenance and operations. When I was only 24 years old, I doubled the reliability of the NASA mission control center with a few simple changes that everyone should have seen. Believe me, I know complex systems like few people on this earth.

A tractor is not a complex system. The technology is over 60 years old and mature. Anyone who cannot design a reliable, safe tractor has a real problem. Then to refuse to acknowledge and fix the problems just compounds the crime.

I am sure I will never own another JD product again. This is my third JD product and all were unsatisfactory. I do know how to maintain machinery, but I have to have something to work with. I don't know of any maintenance that can be performed on a bolt inside a transmission, nor what maintenance is necessary for a steel hydraulic shaft. I am currently mowing with a old 1986 high hours Yazoo riding mower, which is mowing what the JD 855 is suppose to be mowing. I occasionally drive my 1969 Van that I have owned since it was new. The lawn mower I mowed hundreds of yards with commercially when I was a kid and in college lasted over 25 years before the frame rusted out. My dad then put the motor on a tiller. In contrast, the JD riding mower my dad bought lasted about 3 years. The engine was shot and the body not much better.

I am sure I will not fix my JD 855 at my expense. I think it would better serve the public if I put it out in front on the highway with lemons plastered all over it. I see no use in sticking someone else with such a product. The motor appears to be good, so I may find a use for the motor.

Whew, what a soapbox I have been on. Sorry.

Sounds like you sealed it up pretty well. However if JD was interested in long life electronics they would be doing this. They just want to sell more tractors. Electronics is one way to do this. Today they may say we will have parts forever, tomorrow that may change. Parts availability for tractors is not covered by law or contractual obligation to the average tractor consumer.

For tractors its KISS ( Keep It Simple Stupid ).
Metal parts can always be manufactured/machined, not so easy with sealed computer modules and plastic parts.

Thanks for the info, I understand the principle I used to keep tropical fish and many of the filters, etc work by the same principle. I just had not thought to use on a large scale I guess.
