Hello, just bought a Satoh Beaver S-370D and looking for the best loader for the tractor. Hopefully a bolt on kit. The tractor is in great shape with only 150 hours and looks new. Thanks...

You are right on. It don't matter - if you add a foot of blocking under the bucket then pull the cylinders in - it won't lift the front. I am aware of the differences in the cylinder forces (between the bucket cylinders and the lift arms) but still feel a tractor must be able to lift it's front end off the ground with the power of the lift arm cylinders. I admit - the stroke length is just about exhausted when the bucket is flat - but hey - I curled the bucket down first - then lowered it to the ground - then tried to lift the front tires - NO WAY!

I am calling my dealer on Monday.

Actually - I am amazed that only one of us on this board has had it adjusted. Also - when really digging - hard to believe that others have not noticed this. I have run loaders for close to 20 years - without this feature - I would estimate that 15% of what I have done would not be accomplished. Example: Packing down soil in reverse with the front tires off the ground (you should not have to curl bucket down to lift - you should be able to curl bucket down - touch it to the ground - then pull in lift arms - thereby raising the front end and applying down pressure to the blade edge to pack down dirt into ruts from say a tractor pull). Just like a New Holland skid steer.

Well in any case - I will get the adjustment.

It looks like we need to sell our B2400 and I'm hoping for some help in determining a fair asking price:

B2400 with less than 200 hours,
4x4 Turf tires w/ loaded rears,
Loader,
Rake (6' older York rake),
Grader blade,
Rear mower (60" Land Pride Wind Tunnel),
Snowblower (60" older Kubota 2 stage),

Overall tractor condition is very good to
excellent. Tractor has always been under cover
when not in use.

Any help in determining a price will be appreciated.
Locale is Southern, NH.

Nothing wrong with greys just stops you yanks getting cheap Kubota's and us Aussies, Cannadians and Europeans pick up a good value. Enough said anyway and I do bot wish to pursue a discussion on the evil of greys ruinning the world economy. Kubota US was also the company that got into trouble for rebadging Made in Japan units as made in USA in US law courts a while back.
Someone on another list suggested using used off road auto or truck tyres as a cheap substitute for tractor lawn tyres. OK for me as my B7001 uses 16 inch rims.

This was my first time bush hogging with the BX22. I usally use it on my other tractor a JD 445. The BX22 handled the "Bush Hog" SQ42 with no problem. Horse power doesn't seem to be a problem both the 445 and BX22 are 22 hp. I didn't get into too much heavy stuff only a few 1 1/2 to 2 inch tree clumps. I did handle them well. On my 445 any thing I can push and drive over it will chew up. I have 50 acres in VA and also do bush hogging here in NY as part of my business. I don't abuse my equipment but I do use it! Check with Carver Equipment when your ready to purchase, they are on the web and also located in Dunn, NC. That is where I bought my BX22, couldn't beat the price even with trucking cost! Good Luck!

Bernie, first off I am trying to help you out here. With the attitude you are conveying here I don't think you will get much if any help at all from a dealer as they are going to be inclined to think nothing they do will please you.

Yes, I am and would be concerned about the points you brought up, but those are not common occurances with that model tractor. As a matter of fact I used to work for John Deere as a mechanic prior to my enlisting in the Army. Funny you should mention flying aircraft manufactured and maintained by a business with the same attitude? I am a maintenance test pilot for UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters and trust me, the business I worked for, for 21 years had an even worse attitude.

The factory people are not going to do squat for you. The dealership people are going to do that provided you can establish a positive repour with them. No need to kiss their butts or anything like that. Start off buying some parts, like filters, etc. Start asking some questions about some of the problems you are having with your tractor while you are there. It sure doesn't hurt to act like you are looking at alot bigger more expensive model too. ;o) Just to get them wondering.

The wrong size tires is not John Deere's fault. Bottom line is that you are going to have to perform some maintenance on this tractor, pay someone else to do it, or sell it and get another. If you are not interested in doing the work yourself, ask the dealer to look at is and give you an estimate.

This tractor was made from 1989 to 1998, that says alot about how popular this model was. Assuming it is as old as you say and a 1989 model MFWD, it is worth around $6,000 in fair condition. Get it repaired and deduct the cost from your taxes. It is not going to get any better on the track you are on. Coming to the John Deere section to ask for and look for help is one thing, but you are not going to influence many owners here; at least speaking for myself. I also worked in procurement as one of my duties while in the Army. I purchased 15 JD 4710's that I have not heard so much as a peep out of that are still in Iraq, and the soldiers love them. John Deere was the only manufacturer who stepped up to the plate and worked with us. All New Holland did was threaten to go to court if we did not buy their TC45D. Kubota was not even interested because they could not meet specs. John Deere warrantied the engines for use with JP-8 fuel. Nobody else would. The 101st Airborne (who I am currently with until the golden retirment day this June) purchased dozens of JD Gators that the Special Forces took to Afganhistan. They did nothing but add oil and fuel. Put over 1500 hours on those machines with no maintenance and they were still running when they came back. They were a mess but running. All they required was normal services and tires.

The point is here, that nothing will last if not maintained well. I worked on Yellow Line John Deere and I'll be honest with you. None of them are fun to work on but the worst was the 450B & C track loaders and the damn HLR. In any case I hope you are able to get your tractor fixed to your satisfaction without have to pay your first born or you can work out a trade on a newer model. You sound like you are about ready for a nice new JD 4310 or 4410 ehydro! ;o)

im trying to get the rocks and stones out of my yard ive tilled the whole thing i have alot of stone 3/4 or bigger but my rake seems to remove more dirt than rock i have adjusted it more times than i care to mention and nothing works im about as frustrated as one can get it would have been cheaper to truck in 50 yards of topsoil can anyone help
the soil is dry tilled and i want to take out the stone not the dirt

It would seem that your 750# box scraper is more than most folks use. If you are operating on level ground that goes a long way toward adding a safety factor.

As an added note: the ballast question goes in both directions. I saw a picture in the Kubota literature of a BX22 backhoe being operated with a front blade (as opposed to a FEL) on the tractor, so I gave that a try.

All went well until I tried to climb up the 45 degree slope in the back of the house. It tipped over backward and came to rest on the hoe bucket. No matter what I tried it simply would not climb that slope. It had been up and down the same track a dozen times with the FEL attached.
I finally had to work my way out of the hole by going another direction.

The lesson for me was that you can hang too much off the rear end too and all must be in balance. Pay attention, grasshopper.

AC: That's exactly where I end up. I just don't come up with a clear idea every time I try to think it through. From what I recall most everybody who tries to analyze the situation comes to the same result. However, a drawbar wagon was the example used by somebody who said to turn uphill and he was pretty clear about that. People who said to turn downhill were pretty clear that it wasn't an opinion based on analysis but rather just the quickest most reliable thing to do, and that most any attitude is better than being side-ways and tippy.

Myself, I'd rather be going uphill if sliding seemed a risk; unless I had big weight up high on the 3ph. My reasoning is that the same thing that makes the front lighter increases weight on the rear tires, and that should increase traction. Of course, if the soil is unstable, then maybe more weight isn't a good idea. Always exceptions to this buz it seems.

What we did for a similar well (minus the livestock) at our camp was to put a half-tile and cover above ground and parge the ground-level joints between the tiles with mortar. A previous owner did use the water for drinking but we don't-even though it tested 0-0 last summer. <br>

There was a feed line to the old house cut into the casing about 3' down. The feed line ran through clay tile (that ironically used to drain a lot of water from the well to the cellar during the spring. I broke into the clay tile about 5' from the well, build a wood platform and put in new feed line to a hand pump on the platform. Other people drill a hold in a cover and install a hand pump.<br>

There's enough flow from the well for our needs so I haven't bothered vacuuming the bottom. If it's only 10' deep, a rental trash pump probably has enough lift to do some vacuuming. The water flow from a fairly shallow drilled well in the Township improved a lot after a 1,000 gallons was pumped from the township water tanker was pumped in at the bottom. The water tanker is for fire fighting, but its pump doesn't quite produce enough pressure to call it a fire truck. I'm not sure how good an idea that is but it's something that was done to test the pump the recently acquired tanker.<br>

There are often quite a few environmental regs about such things. Unused wells are supposed be filled many places and sometimes doing what seems like maintenance may require the whole thing to be brought up to current codes. You might consider checking around quietly to see if regs in your area apply to what you're thinking of doing.<br>

Sorry I missed your reply yesterday. I cut my netting short to do some other type netting related to the opening of Pike season here.

I missed that the loader has its own pump. A power-beyond rated valve isn't necessary in a system that has only one valve assembly, so it probably isn't PB rated assembly. In that case it should work to hook the hoe, which does have a PB rated assembly ahead of the loader. The hoe's low-pressure or tank line could be joined to the loader valve's return line provided that no component is between the t-fitting and the exit of the return line into the reservoir. High pressures can't be developed in the loader return line since it should have an open end to the reservoir.

A connection of the pump high-pressure line to hoe valve inlet (usually stamped P or IN) and the loader PB line to the loader IN port and the loader outlet to the reservoir should provide a path for the open-centre oil flow. You might want to consider quick-connector fittings if the hoe will be removed although I'd probably avoid them since the can pull apart fairly easily. There are some issues related to routing and securing hose.

Hi all. I have read alot in this forum and I although I could not find the answer by reading, I am sure there is someone who will know the answer to my question.

I bought this tiller used from an individual. There are no markings I can read except the model number (RSC1501). The rest is all oriental writing. It operates good, but the tines are really badly worn and need to be replaced. The problem is, I cannot seem to find replacement tines. A tractor and implement dealer locally had tines that would almost work. The pin hole was slightly smaller on the only tine he had in stock. He said by the model number, it was most likely a Yanmar.
I have pics of the tiller and a tine I removed. I am supplying a link to a photo gallery where the pics can be viewed. Anyone who is familiar with tillers please view the photos and let me know where I can purchase replacement tines, cheaply please. (If I could have used the ones the local dealer had, they were still $11 each. My tiller has 32 tines! That's alot of $!)

My Trator was new had .3 hours on it. Tranny "Geared" I have an old Ford 8n which as you now is a geared machine so when it came time to buy a new tractor I bought a geared machine once again. I have always enjoyed shifting my own gears. The tires on the tractor are Agriculture type. I am also buying a set of turf tires for the TC33D
