I have a Bush Hog brand FEL on my Kubota L3010. It seems to be built a little sturdier than the Kubota loaders. If I ever decide to add a backhoe attachment it will have to be the Bush Hog brand also. The subframe of any other brand of backhoe will not line up with the holes in the subframe of Bush Hog FEL, according to my dealer. I am very pleased with my FEL.

Thanks for the great reply. It has helped me a lot. I don't think my loader valve has power beyond because the front pump only works the loader, and the loader has a seperate tank. The tractor 3pt is completely separate.

Would it work if I ran the high pressure line from the pump to the pump line on the BH, then run the power beyond line on the BH to the high pressure on the loader valve? If so, how would the return lines run from the BH valve and loader valve? Thanks again for all of the help.

We occaisionally had the same problems with our 'Bota's after a season of doing snow removal. We finally figured out what was happening, when working in deep snow the seal would get nicked by hunks of ice buried in the snow, when the weather warmed up and the oil got more fluid, it seeped out.

Basically you have to put guards under the axles, or make sure you don't bury the axle in deep snow or be prepared to replace at least one a year.

My buddy has a z320 with the 60" deck he mows with (I know, mower, not tractor, but I am hoping some of you may have some info).

I have the following questions:
1. Are there any mulching blades for this unit? If so, what is the number?
2. Was there any type of bagger or other collection system designed for this deck?
3. Where is a good place to pickup items for this mower?

Chief, I have the manual for the 420 loader. It is no doubt lighter and smaller capacity compared to the 430 loader.

Have any of you taken a look at what the owner's manual for your FEL actually calls for?????? I was told by the dealer that the 110 gallons of fluid tire fill was all I needed. After reading a post in another section about FEL ballast and a post from Mark Hunstiger; I review my owner's manual and discovered that the dealer was wrong and that I was actually 1320 lbs. short on ballast for the 3 pt. hitch. I had glanced through the manual earlier but I evidently read it wrong. You all may want to take a second look at what your owner's manual actually says. Could help you avoid joining the "Man of Steel" Club.

I knew of a man who got a pair of purebred Irish Setters. The breeder warned him that the dogs very picky would only eat Alpo.

So the guy brought them home and poured out a dish of Purina dog chow. Sure enough, they refused to eat it, but five days later they did.

blewandowski, have you looked at one of these yet? I have about 2,000 of driveway that I maintain with a Land Pride 1584 landscaping rake. The model in the link below should work well for you and also provide you with a more versatile implement. The 1584 is a good bit heavier around 300 lbs. Take a look and see what you think.

You wrote CT33D and I assume you meant TC33D. I have a TC29D, which is the same as the TC33D but a few less HP. Same frame, size, and weight. I have a tilt meter on my tractor. I mow sideways on a 20 degree hill all the time and have been sideways on a 25 degree hill with no problems. I have a 30 degree hill that I do not try to mow sideways on, I go straight up and down. If I had weight on the tires (either fluid or wheel weights), I might try it, but have never tried it.

The thing that fools people sometimes is that on a riding lawn mower, you're not up very high, so a side slope doesn't feel too bad. When you get up on a CUT, it feels like a lot more. Whatever you do, make sure you have the ROPS up and your seat belt on! The thing you have to watch out for is if you go too fast and hit a bump or start to slide sideways and then hit a stump or rock, then it will be much more likely to flip over.

With the weather we have had here in Tennessee the past 2 weeks (about 10 inches of rain, hail, tornadoes, winds) my grass is just totally out of control!!!! I guess that is a good thing. At least a year finally has come along with no drought. Nice to see everything so green. The John Deere F525 and the 4410 are getting a good work out and I am enjoying the seat time as well! ;-) It is unbelievable how fast the zoysia grass grows and how thick it is this year.

Sorry about taking so long to get back on this. I ended up adding 1/32" orifices to both hoses and now it works great. I ordered the 1/2" pipe thread restrictors from Royal Brass in Illinois for total of $11 for both including shipping. They have a web site and their headquarters are in Knoxville, TN. The web site, http://www.royalbrassandhose.com, which has a list of dealers.

The part number is 8MP-8FPXR and it's called a "Restricted pipe SWVL". It doesn't swivel though, once it's tightened down it's rigid. The SWVL means they will swivel while installing, but once they're tight they are rigid, which is fine because the quick connect where it connects to the tractor can swivel anyway to keep the hoses from binding.

Danny, all the folks who want to save 500 bucks by putting an after market loader on their new tractor need to read your posting.

That extra weight almost amounts to what a load of dirt in the bucket would weigh. And the maintenance hassles would put it over the top for me too.

4WD generally helps with traction and skid control because the front wheels are powered by the engine and don't have to get their rotation from ground movement. You might notice this most often with FEL work where you have to put the tractor in 4WD to make the front end come out of a rut. But, the same thing will happen in a skid. Wheels rotating in the direction of travel = control.

4WD also couples the front and rear axles together through the transmission so that the rear and front wheels must rotate together. That means that some of the brake power is also transferred to the front wheels because the rear wheels cannot stop without restraining the front wheels. As long as the front wheels have some weight on them, this is going to result in more braking ability overall except when heading down an extreme downhill slope.

Cars skid for different reasons. Front brakes on a car always are set up to generate most of the braking force, so they will lock before the rear brakes in slick conditions. If you have a 4WD car or truck, the front and rear braking are tied together and skidding occurs less often. ABS brakes are a different situation altogether.

Deciding whether to turn uphill or downhill in a skid will almost have to be a split second experience based call. The reason that I say this is that there are so many orientations from which the skid could start. I would say that generally it is best to turn downhill and I will explain that a bit later, but if you were heading uphill at an angle (with the front end above the rear) and the rear broke loose, turning downhill would tend to put you sideways and make things worse. If the front were to break loose in the same situation, it is going downhill no matter what.

On very steep and slippery conditions, I run with the differential locked as well as 4WD. I move straight up and down the hill as others have described. I avoid traversing across the face, because that is the situation where you have the least ability to control and recover from a skid. I do not use the differential lock when traversing a slope, because this could make a skid worse if it started with the rear wheels.

Concerning tipping...I have never personally seen a tipping incident toward the front of a wide front tractor. (I have seen tricycle gear tractors tip toward the front.) I have seen tractors that have turned over backwards going up steep slopes. I can see how tipping over the front could occur if the front dropped down into a deep rut, but I have never seen it happen.

The center of gravity on a tractor is generally closer to the rear axle to enhance traction. This is affected by any implement or ballast that you place on the tractor. Turning downhill places a longer distance between the center of gravity and the lines between the wheel contact patches. (Lines on which tipping occurs.) A longer distance means it is more difficult to tip the tractor over. (Main exception -- FEL which moves the CG forward and up.) When the CG gets over the top of one of those lines of tipping, it is going over. The pyramid analogy that Tom mentioned is good as long as you remember that the CG is at the TOP of the pyramid. Please also remember that this kind of situation is what the ROPS and seatbelt are there for.

Going downhill with the front pointed downhill means that you will probably have a wild ride, but it is better to be in control going faster than you would like than to be skidding sideways with little/no control of direction, speed or your immediate future.

John, Slip clutch is the most convenient by far. Just be sure to maintain it or you could cause bigger problems with your tractor.

I too am a DR F&B mower owner. I bought mine about 8 years ago. Believe me, it WILL do everything they say it will.

The only thing I don't like about mine is it has those skinny wheels and no reverse. Now they have reverse and those fat tires, so you'll have plenty of traction. I've moved stuff over head high, everything from vines to saplings. All you have to do is pull the lever, hold on and guide it.

I don't know the hoe but it's probably a sub-frame rather than a 3ph mount. Many sub-frames require removing this or that on the 3ph. The mounts of some 3ph hoes require a drawbar.

One way of looking at it that many or even most compact owners never own an implement that uses a drawbar so the loss may not be too important. My drawbar is compromised due to a 3ph-hoe mount so I can't use it for an implement. A 1" hole in the bar is still available and I keep a 1" clevis loop in it to use for connecting chain used for dragging things around. The drawbar is the safest point to pull from.

Vibration is a serious enemy of wet cell batteries, esp. with garden equipment and compact tractors with diesel engines, rigid motor mounts, and insufficient mass to absorb the vibration. I use high density foam weather stripping, and stick it to the the bottom of the battery. This, along with the plastic battery box already mentioned should go a long way toward solving your problem. If not, there is always the option of a gel cell battery, at the expense of cold cranking amps.

There should be a valve, usually under the seat, that controls the rate of drop for the three point hitch.

If it is closed the hitch will not fall no matter what you do with the lever.
