Peters, I also ordered the Z-52 zoysia grass from the magazine (Zoysia Farms I think it was) add and my wife plugged like over 5,000 small plugs. She got wore out about 80% of the way through and so was I so I just planted the rest in big 18" x 10" mats. The plugs all dried up and blew away. I called them back and they sent me an entire new batch. This time I planted the entire box in big 18" x 10" mats and kept them well watered. The took hold and every year they take over more and more of the yard. The dogs love it because it is like indoor carpet in summer and is warm to sleep on in winter. It is gorgeous when it is all greened up but goes dormant in fall and turns whiteish brown. The best feature about the grass is that it kills out EVERYTHING including weeds as it spreads.

Looking at a Kubota 3130 with FEL. The dealer will install a Woods loader or Kubota. The Woods of comparable size is nearly $1000 less. The specs and design (round back bucket, valve type etc..) are very similar. I don't care about resale value, it would be higher with the Kubota. Is there any substantive reason I should go with one or the other??

Concure totally with Ted's post. I have about 2,000 feet of gravel drive way. I had the dump truck driver spead it with his truck and periodically I maintain it with my Land Pride 1584 Landscaping rake. The rake does an excellent job at evening out the gravel and filling in low spots and does not break up the gravel pack near as much a blade.

Norm, I bought a Land Pride 1584 Landscaping rake for $650 when I got my 4410. It is very well built and does a great job. You can get wheel & grading attachments for it is you prefer but I have had great results with it plain mounted to the 3 pt. hitch.

I am taking my shot at a small lawn care business since I am retiring from the Army. I came across a software package called Grounds Keeper Pro v5.1 that more or less suggests the following rate:

$20 per 1,000 square feet
.5 man hours per 1,000 square feet
$8 per hour employee pay

Not sure if this helps you out but hopefully can give you an idea to start from.

JD does not make an engine oil. It may blend an engine oil but as it does not have chemical production facilites it does not make an oil. Therefore they are branding someone elses oil.
That said the price of the oils at JD are generally competitive and good oils. I wish I new more about who supplies it.
The newer JD synthetic which they just started selling the last time I was in looks like an excellent alternative.
The lowest price I have seen for a full synthetic is for the Shell Rotella T synthetic at 3.22/qt.

Anyone purchased one of these trimmers yet. Was looking for some feed back on how well they worked and hold up. I have seen the ads for them and the idea of a 4 stroke trimmer with these features seems like a good idea. Prices seems to be about even with the FS 85 trimmers.

Has anyone done this yet? I have a John Deere 72" mmm on my 4410 and noticed the gearbox runs a little hot. Not so hot that you can't touch it but more than I like. I checked the oil level and it is good (runs out when I remove the plug). I was considering changing the oil to Amsoil 75W-90 gear lube (I have had very good results with this lube in lower temps on my truck rear axle while towing) in the next 10 hours but this requires removing the mower from the tractor as well as removing the gearbox from the mower. What PITA! I use a suction pump to change the oil on my Sea Ray and was thinking I could do this as well on the gearbox while installed on the mower and tractor. Any of you tried this method? Any tricks to employ? I hate to remove the mower from this tractor since it is alot of work to relevel it. I am not sure that locktite on the clevis mounts will hold the adjustments after removal. Thanks for any suggestions.

I have a DR Field and Brush mower that I bought 4 years ago. It has the 15 horsepower Kawasaki engine. It will do everything the manufacturer says it will. It is rather heavy and you can't fight it. I have no complaints. It is hard work in rough terrain, but it will do the job. Very little bogs the machine down. It even cuts wild roses, which ar my worst problem. The trimmer they make is not self-propelled but might be a better choice for fence lines. I use one on my barbed wire fence lines. Not nearly as much money either.

Any of you have loose or sloppy steering on your Ram? Mine wondered all over the road and I had the dealer replace the steering box and damper. Part of the problem in the box flexing the frame when steering with adds to the steering wonder problem. Here is a link to a good fix for this problem.

I need an axle housing right rear for a case IH 1130. I think a Mitsubishi part will work but i can't fing a x referance from one to the other. does anyone have any info an the 1130?

Mike,

I would suggest the Land Pride AT2672. The extra width will give you some sorely needed overlap. You are going to have to get used to craning your neck around to watch what you are doing alot more with a rear finish mower. Land Pride makes VERY good quality equipment and does not charge near as much for the color of their paint.

The smallest, lightest 5th wheel hitch is rated at 15,000 pounds towing weight.

That says something as to the basic strength. I can also tell you that after many thousands of miles that there is no safer smoother tow out there than a 5th wheel set-up.

I think it should crank regardless of glow plug, check all the safety switches to be sure the pto is out, clutch depressed etc. Your manual should describe this operation. You may have a bad switch or starter.

Good call Mark on the 4WD. I too have joined the "Man of Steel " club after an uncontrolled skid down a steep hill. I have the "rust stains" in my drawers to prove it! ;-)
