You may want to consider the JD 4115 which has a few more ponies under the hood (24 hp vs. 20 hp)since you mentioned the implements. Cost about 20% more but sometimes you can find this tractors sitting on dealer lots that have been passed over and they are willing to deal to move them.

I just purchased a B2400 (I am the one who rolled the tractor when it popped out of gear) and I hope someone will be able to provide some help.

My owners manual says to hold the key to heat the glow plugs for just a few seconds before you turn the key all the way to the start position. When I hold the key for 3 to 5 seconds in the "heat glow plug" position and then turn the key to start the engine, the engine does not crank. I hear a click, but nothing happens. I then turn the key back off and hold it in the "glow plug heat" position and try to crank it again. Still, the engine does not crank. I generally have to hold the key in "glow plug heat" for 20 plus seconds and then when I try to start it cranks and starts immediately.

Is there something in the start sequence that will not allow the engine to crank until the glow plugs are hot enough to allow the engine to start?

Should my engine crank after only holding in the glow plug heat position for only 3 to 5 seconds?

I am heating glow plugs much longer than the manual says that I should to get the engine started.

Should the engine crank even if the glow plugs are not hot?

The engine does not respond in the way the owner's manual describes the start procedure.

This is my first tractor, I have a lot to learn.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Always turn into the direction of the skid. The goal is to get/keep the tires rolling so you have some control. A tire that is not turning will not steer and makes a lousy brake.

Also, always engage the 4wd on tricky terrain. That is the only way to transfer braking power to the front wheels.

If I leave my tractors in 2wd and drive down a 35 degree slope the tractors skid down the slope faster than the rear wheels are turning. If I try to use the brake it just skids to the bottom of the slope.

Putting it in 4wd keeps it in perfect control going up and down steep slopes.

2600 rpm is the rated speed for this engine because of pto speed requirements but not the max. rpm. When operating the tractor under heavy load, sometime it is required to slightly raise engine rpms to maintain 2600 rpm. That is why is mentioned 2650. Sometimes I have to set engine rpm to 2700 to no load to maintain 2600 with a load. The engine is protected by an internal speed govenor to prevent over reving.

Forgot to mention: Some of the large volume grey market Japanese tractor distributors have picked up Branson franchises and they are really getting aggressive on price . I was offered a Century 2535 w/C50 loader and the rear remote hydraulic hookup package (which I don't need) and R4 tires for $16900 by the Century dealer in Northumberland, PA. On the face of it, it looks like internet package deals on Bransons are definitely cheaper. And they're easy to find - just do a search under "Branson Tractor". I can always rent a trailer and hook it up to the Suburban and go get a tractor from a few hundred miles away. I will not go in this direction, though, unless Branson gets a franchisee or two somewhere close to me for parts and service. Right now, they are not in PA at all.

Sounds like a pretty good outcome. The fuse holder solution was the same one that I found for an intermittent lighting problem I had. I finally it out when I noticed that the holder contacts had voltage on one side of the fuse but not the other. I figured it was a bad fuse and put a new one in which didn't cure the problem. I finally check for continuity across the fuse, which indicated the fuses were good. The holder contacts were about the only explanation left.

I'm guessing that the ground path for the solenoid that got hot has another component in it before the circuit gets to chassis ground. Another component would provide more resistance and reduce the current flow. That's also the explanation if it's the same point where voltage dropped under load. Several loads in series divide the total up voltage across them when current is flowing but not when it isn't. Trouble-shooting nightmares can happen when several things wired in series have a broken ground at the chassis connection. Every point tested in the circuit will read battery voltage. A common conclusion and one that I've made is 'Yep, that's got voltage, it must be working.'

I use a 5' King Kutter behind my TC29. It doesn't mow as well as the 42" Lowes mower that I used to used, but the combination is a lot faster and more comfortable. I would rate the quality of cut as "satisfactory" to "good".

They still may have some uses over in Korea, but I do not believe they do here in the US. In the older Kubota's the front shaft was used to operate the belly mower.

My 8 inch is a Sheldon which is 7K. That is all my trailer is rated for so? Anything heavier than that I use a the goose. There are a number sold in the Northern Tool. There are a couple of water ski catalogs that have a better selection. I can not remember the names it has been a while since I had one.

What kind of a drop trialer hitch do you use

I would get the largest tractor your pocket book will allow. I have the 790 and really pleased with it ,but a larger unit would of been nicer.The 790 was all my pocket book would allow, but its a great machine and I'm finding out that's it's done all I asked of it so far.

Larry, glad to hear you are uninjured and your tractor took the roll pretty well. I am sure the first thing you had to clean up before the oil leak from the trans. was your drawers! I know I would be. Until you come up with a final fix for the gear lever popping out; I would suggest not using the bungee cord but the rubber type lashing strap like the truck drivers use. They stretch like a bungee but are much more firm and not near as likely to give as a bungee should the lever try popping out again. Until then, have your tried emailing Kubota Safety in Georgia about this incident? The email address is on the website. They may be able to help you out. They helped me find and purchase a ROPS for my L245.

Hey guys, speaking of hydraulic links, I just got back from our 50 acres in VA (back to cold NY), and what fun we had with the BX22. I was pushing brush piles on Thursday night and I was dumping the bucket and all of the suddent fluid was flying every where. It seems that a piece of brush unhooked the quick disconect down on the right side by the engine cover. When it came off, I didn't know it, and then I dumped the bucket, when I tried to bring it back up it blew the O ring in the top of the valve. I had to reseat the ring and after that it was fine. A quick trip to the local dealer in Lynchburg for more fluid and off we went.I will be building a guard for this area now. Also ran my bush hog this weekend without any problem. Great tractor!
