Hello everyone...

Had a bad time Saturday afternoon... ruined a good part of the weekend. I had my JD4300 with the 48 backhoe backed up to a job and was working away when I suddenly saw a cloud of mist spraying on the ground. Don't know how but I kinked one of the hydraulic lines to the backhoe and it sprung a pin-hole leak. It was the supply line attached to the backhoe with the male connector.

Of course I didn't have any fluid on hand so it was all I could do to get the hoe pulled in and get out of the job area before I lost everything.

Has anyone replaced that hose in the field? The tractor is 100 miles from the nearest dealer and if I can, I'd rather replace it myself than haul it in to town. Looks like I can reach the connection point where the hose screws into the manifold by removing the pin and letting the left out-rigger hang down. Think that will work?

I also noted that the hose has a connector on each end that is screwed into the hose. So does that mean I can get away with replacing just the hose and reusing the connectors?

Of course I also have to locate a source for the right fluid to replace what I lost on Saturday. My manual, which of course, was 5.5 hours away from the job only describes the right stuff as the Low Viscosity Hy-Gard. No one at any of the usual sources knew what I was taking about when I called. Of course the dealers were closed at the time. Anyone know if there is a suitable substitute that I can use that won't harm my baby? I'll purchase the right fluid this week and take it to the tractor this weekend. But it would be nice to know if I could some something else in a pinch.

Now I'm off to the Deere web site... I've been told I can find information there about how to properly bleed air from the system after an operation like this.

As allways, thanks for the tips WillieH and you are right I like this tiller. I love to grow things and getting the soil workable has allways been my limitation, I have enough property. The more grass the more mowing, the more garden the more fresh vegtables. Last year we grew tomatoes to make sauce and had enough to till the end of March. And I think we still have some pickles left. This year I would like to get some blueberries/rasberries bushes going.

I used to own a TC33D 4Wd with R4 tires. The tractor (in my opinion) was very stable. Mine was equiped with a N/H loader and as long as I used the coorect amount of rear ballast the tractor was very stable and predictable. I took the loader off to mow and found no big change in handling. The center of gravity is more important then tractor width is when talking about just a few inches.

Usually rebates on tractors are dealer oriented and depending upon how close he shaved the price, it is usually his option to keep it, or he may have figured it into the price. Usually it is an incentive made to the dealer to move more product. A dealer generally decides where and who gets the rebate. It may be added to the salesman's paycheck.

Usually the seal in these type of gear boxes is doubled. One seal on top of another and yes they are usually made like a thin metal disk that is stamped with a rubber seal vulcanized to the inside

I have fescue and Bahia in the field. Yes you can do just 2 cuts if you do not let the Bahai get too long. Some of the tough fescue patches may need four on my field. In the middle of the summer I have to hit the power with the rotory cutter to get through.

Art thanks for the information. That is what I kinda figured, but thought I would ask. This one is cheap and would probably be worth the fab costs, but I don't want to get into that right now.

Yeeek, sod & clay, sound like you have a most difficult job ahead of you. You may what to get someone to break up that sod for you, then you can us the little J.D to move it around...

You could try a box blade with scarifier to loosen the soil. Once loosened you can then use the loader bucket to haul it anywhere you want...

I just bought a B7800HST which appears to be the B2910HSD only without tilt steering wheel, spring seat and cruise control. It has the same 4 cyl 30 HP engine as the 2910, 4 wheel drive, p/s, Industrial tires, two PTO's, folding ROPS, etc. I paid $15,000 with the LA402 Front end loader installed. Tractor was delivered to my home as well.

The $400 deduction is a Deere sponsored thing. Check the Deere website. It's $200 per attachment for two attachments. Yes, the 62C deck counts as a attachment.

No doubt it is directly proportionate to the salaries of the artist/recording companies and associated expenses. Then again, no other industry that I can think of has a dedicated 24 hour channel (MTV) promoting their product. Around here it is included as part of ANY base cable/satellite package, small wonder as most people would not actually pay for it otherwise (we are seeing some of the result of children that were raised on unlimited MTV these days as well) . I still have the old 8' dish and select what I want to see/pay for during the limited time I watch it. Fairly cheap for H&G, Speed-vision, Sci-fi,Discovery, (C-SPAN is free) and still much for free if you know where to look and happen to need your daily fix of serial TV. I still have my box of old eight tracks and player in the garage, perhaps when I find that old muscle car, they will find their way into it for nostalgia purposes.

Orange manufactured the L2350DT 4wd from 1991 - 1997. Most all the gear shift units from orange, have their serial numbers either stamped in the casing or on a tag, on the left side of the transmission drive tube, located on the inside of your left shoe area.

The serial number is essential for identifying the yaer of manufacture. As far as the HP, this orange delivers 25HP at the engine, with a 20.5 HP at the PTO.

The value...tough to call without knowing the exact vintage and seeing it. I would guess'timate the tractor at around $7-$8k, the FEL adds another $1.5k, and the hoe, depending on condition, about $4k used. I cannot say for sure as I am not "looking" at the unit.
