Is the $400 attachment deduction for the JD 2210 a dealer or John Deere incentive program. The dealer I'm talking to was unaware of the incentive program and indicated it may be a dealer sponsored program in which case they couldn't reduce the price any more. Also does the 62" mower deck qualify for the attachment deduction? If anyone has any information on this it would be appreciated. Thanks!

Cutter the manufacturing cost of a printed CD and Jewel case was about 50 cents 10 years ago. I am sure it is less now as the cost of production has decreased. It is probably closer to a quarter. It can not be much as they had them out as promotionals with out the Jewel case.

It is one of those things that leaves me baffled, kind of like Reganomics. The cost of production decreased substantially with the introduction of CD�s but they charged more than vinyl at the Music store. When collecting records I averaged about 5 dollars each.

Just a follow up, I was recently quoted the following for a L3830 Hydro:

L3830 $15,900
LA723 Loader $4500 ( I think an after market loader and possible a rear mount finish mower may save some big bucks for me ???)
72" MMM $3300

How does that sound? I was also wondering the price difference in a 3430 in comparrison but did not check into it, does anyone know?

Somebody I know in town actually went looking for them. The season opened around here.

I saw him the following week and he said they didn't see any. What is even more unusual is that he didn't hear any either. They much have all been in session back in Ottawa. That's a different kind of season I guess. Those Ottawa ones aren't even very wild but they do take up a bunch of space. Too far for me to drive to Ottawa to find out and good thing too.

For my 3ph hoe, I retract the stabilizers, boom and dipper and flip the boom latch closed. I place some blocks under the bucket and lower the hoe down on its original shipping pallet plus an added cross-timber. The hoe is fairly stable in this position and the boom and bucket can't change positions if the cylinders leak down. The hoe stays at the same angle it had when mounted so it's just a matter of backing up and making the 3ph pins and other mount arms. Its easy enough to maneuver the pallet slightly with a pry-bar to make the pins if necessary. My backing up isn't always dead-on.

I could lower the stabilizer to the ground for more lateral stability but the storage space is fairly narrow. As long as they weren't support weight there wouldn't be a leak down problem.

I would keep in mind that cylinders do leak down and more so if they support weight. I once thought I'd be clever and gain a bit more shed space by leaving the loader bucket up so I could pull the tractor closer to a snow blower. The next time I was in the shed I noticed that the bucket had leaked down and hooked itself over the blower chute. Maybe not so clever I thought, if I couldn't get the tractor started to raise the bucket, I'd have to jack up the bucket just to get the tractor out of the shed. I don't leave the bucket up anymore.

If you have a gauge, you've probably already checked the level, filters and screens and for frothy or hot oil after some operation.

You might say if the pressure was checked at the 3ph cylinder or from a hydraulic manifold block and if the tractor has power steering fed from a priority valve.

A pressure test at a block would be preferable since the only components in the system would be the pump and relief valve. The general idea is to take a pressure reading from the auxiliary system port and rotate the diverter valve just long enough to take a reading. If the pressure is low, inspect the relief valve and increase the pressure adjustment (takes shims on my Ford). Then measure it again to see if the pressure increases. If it doesn't then the pump is a likely cause.

I just picked up my B2910. The machine with 402 loader,R4's (loaded) with a month loaner York Rake came in at $17,000.

I am very pleased with the dealer and extremely pleased with the tractor.

The merits of weights vs tire-fill sure has been discussed a lot. If I had to choose I'd use weights but I wouldn't like the price at all. The main advantage of weights is that they do come off, which may be important for people who finish mow but need more traction for other work. They also don't make a mess if there's ever a leak or corrode the wheels.

There also are a few fine points in favour of weights. A tractor handles better at road speeds without filled tires. The tread is less deformed and traction may be a bit better. There's less wear and tear on the tractor if weight isn't carried when it's not needed. As I say, mostly fine points, and the cost of weights really does put me off.

Had posted earlier but needed additional information. Am looking at this Kubota tractor model L2350DT FWD with a LB400 loader and B4672 Backhoe. Has good tires, no major leaks, has 450hrs on meter, good paint. In fact everything appears to be in good working order and in good shape. Would like advise on what this unit is worth.
Also would like to know how to tell the year model of this unit and horse power. The owner doesn't know exactly. Any help would be appreciated.

This idea of turning up hill or downhill comes up from time to time. I believe the consensus has been that there are exceptions but generally it's better to turn into a hill. I think the main reason for turning into a hill is that it slows you down.

Either way, the main thing is get the tractor into a more stable up or down position. The person in the seat has to have confidence that they're going to do the right thing.

I've only had my 2210 for a week so take my two cents for what it is worth. I've been moving a pile of dirt and the loader has impressed me in that it has no problem picking up a full bucket of dirt, tractor seems to have plenty of power. I would say you will not have a problem tearing up the sod but if the clay is hard it maybe slow going, just not enough weight on the front to force the bucket down into hard ground. You really need some ballast on the back with the loader, maybe a good box blade for ballast would loosen up the clay first. I'm still waiting for my box blade to see how that works.

I definetly recommend checking around for prices. Unfortunetly, in my area (southwest Michigan) the John Deere dealers were way overpriced and rather unfriendly! Reminded me of buying a Harley. I visited 4 different John Deere dealers and compared to the prices on this forum I thought they were high. I got a couple of quotes on the 4115.
John Deere 4115, w/R4 tires, 410 loader, 60" midmower = $18090 (dealer 1) and $18,400 (dealer 2) + tax.
I also visited, called, emailed a bunch of Kubota & New Holland dealers both in state and out of state. Most of the dealerships were close, but I ended up saving over $2,000 on a KubotaB7800 by checking around. I felt like it was luck of the draw, fortunetly the dealership I bought mine from was only 33 miles away.

I haven't been here in a while since I spend most of my time on other tractor sites. This is a good site, or was, but having to pop up posts is too much trouble, and too slow on my laptop. I ain't gonna do it, and I dang sure ain't paying money to see it like it was. Too many other places on the web to read about tractors and other subjects.

Thanks to everyone for their input. I settled on the GST and is setting in the driveway. Will get back with you in a couple of months and let you know how I like it. Have already moved a couple buckets of dirt (first time I have ever ran a tractor let alone a loader and was moving dirt within 10 minutes of seat time), I wasn't very efficient but got the job done. The only thing I will have to correct or get used to is that when I am on a slope and change direction from reverse to forward I drift farther back than I am really comfortable with. I think I just need to get used to the throttle, shifting and such.
My neighbor had a New Holland CUT delivered the same day so can't wait to do some comparing.
