I have photopaint and adobe but could not resize the picture but was trying to compress the files to size. Yes I resorted to Marks method after hours of play.

The dealer said their was to much hydraulic fluid in the tractor and drained about 1 � gallons. This solved the clutch problem however, the tractor is still having problems engaging between gears, especially 2nd gear.

Doesn't have power steering.

The bucket works properly up and down. Haven't had a chance to check it with a full load to see if it will stay up lately but it did a few weeks ago as far as I could tell.

Sounds like a good idea, I will see if my husband can figure out how to do that....he's a newbie with this stuff but he did dissassemble and reassemble the relief valve this morning. We were thinking that maybe that valve is kicking in when we try to lift the tractor with the bucket and maybe just needs an adjustment? (this goes back to a problem we had over the winter with our back blade (see: http://tractorpoint.com/cgi-bin/tractor/fullThread.pl?parentnum=48125&catname=Kubota%20Owning/Buying&catcode=KU#49087)

where the back blade would suddenly not lift unless I moved the front bucket a few inches an then it would lift fine for awhie, and then quit again. This problem is also happening with the mid-mount mower since it's connected to that hitch. I wonder if the problems aren't related and it's merely a relief valve adjustment?

in any event we ended up driving over the mower to get it attached as it needed to get attached.

well, I seen my BX22 at the dealer on saturday(to be delivered monday) and I hope that I am not being riped-off. It appears that it may have been the floor model,the piant appeared slightly faded compared to the obviously new (spotless)models there. It also had 2 hours on it and all the others there had 1 hour on them ,the stabilizer feet had the paint knocked off, 3 point hitch was still in the box on the backhoe and was clearly rained on the staples were rusty. There was condensation in the headlight and the black plastic part of the dash appeared to be scratched as if a tag had been attached and was blowing in the wind for some time.
I brought all the books home and going through them they all looked new except for 2 of them that were so obviously used they grease and dirt and finger prints all over them. The 2 books were for the front hydraulic blade and the male quick hitch and subframe. I didn't see the front blade at the dealer.
The original quote I got for the BX22/bar tires/4way valve/12" bucket/60"mower was $16,873. Then i decided to get the front plow BX2763/BX2751 and the tiller B40C, bumping it up to $19,839, plus tax and fees 21,029.34. I certainly thought I was buying all new equipment. I suppose I have 3 days to cancel.
Can anyone tell me if I am just being "knit-picky" or if at $21,000 my concerns are justified.

This happened to me once with my JD 4610. I was driving it over to fuel it up and started down a small hill. When I let off the forward peddle it started free-wheeling. Come to find out, when I change from medium range to high the seat belt buckle was in the way and I hadn't got the range lever all the way engaged.

Very interesting! Thanks for the advice. This gives me a few things to think about, and right now (24-7) my mind is on tractors. I hope I will be able to do half of what my mind has already envisioned doing with the tractor (parades, tractor poker runs, going to the drive-in threatre, tractor pulls......just kidding). This site is very enjoyable to read, and I hope to be able to offer advice in the future.

Just off the cuff, I would say that if it the same size as the one Kubota recommends it should work out mechanically.

I have no idea of the quality of Befco stuff.

I'm with Art on this one.

With the ignition system, if your glow indicator remains lit, or on, this would indicate that the spring load circuit in the primary ignition switch, for whatever reason, has failed, thusly creating either a short internally of this switch, or an open circuit internally of the switch. In this case, it sounds like a short, whereby the glow indicator circuit remains "hot" or energized which ultimately results in keeping your glow plug circuits "hot". This needs to be remedied post haste or you will find yourself with a more problems, fast.

I do not believe that the problem that you described is any farther downstream, as almost all other components are receiving their control instructions upstream, where it all starts, at the contact closure for this circuit, ie, the switch.

I looked at both and have to say although neither was perfect (none are even Kubota and JD IMHO) the Century was a much nicer machine. I tested the 4110 Mahindra and found that both range and shift levers hit my knees. Particularly bad in low range, second gear. The shift pattern was backwards which I guess you could get used to. My biggest objection was the loader. The arms are too high, the bucket is not quick detach and the loader removal is poorly thought out. That said, the independent PTO on the Mahindra is nicer as is the 4WD shift lever. My only complaint on the Century was the placement of the foot throttle. Too close to the brake pedal on one side and fender on the other for my size 11 boot. Since I can't make the payments to qualify for zero financing, it is moot for me. There was a rebate which made the price very attractive. A 2028 with C-30 and R4 tires was 13,500. New programs start next month, not sure what's in store, but all CUT's are selling hot right now, so deeper incentives are unlikely.

To be fair, you really need to compare the 3130 to the 4310. That said, you can't go wrong with either. When I sat on them I felt more comfortable on the JD. That's just a subjective opinion on my part. For me it would come down to price, financing and dealer. I would shop around more to see what's out there. I think the first thing you need to decide is if the tractor fits your requirements. Both are overkill for mowing five acres and too small for bush hogging twenty. JMHO

I did a little more thinking later in the day. If the dipper was against the block or cylinder stop and the dipper was on the tractor side of vertical with respect to the boom then there'd be no place for the dipper rod to move if weight came down on it. The circuit relief wouldn't provide protection and it wouldn't make any difference if the control valve was open or closed. However, the boom or bucket circuit reliefs might provide protection if the geometry was such that they'd develop enough pressure to open.

I'd guess the design would depend on the boom reliefs for protection under those circumstances. Just the same, I'd likely avoid having the bucket on a hard trench floor when the dipper is fully back. Good that everything's back to work now and I hope the tractor's working harder than you are.

I too only have tried to use free sites. Just log on with your e-mail address and you are a member. My in-box stays full of garbage from those folks that sell their address books to support their sites. Yahoo... I belong to some embroidery lists YUK! what a system. Pop up adds, If I use a blocker I'm blocked out, Forced adds in the middle of a topic. Forced adds between topics... I won't even go into the other free sites that have 6 pop-up windows before you can hit the stop button and go back 8 clicks...

The info on yahoo is important for our side business to keep current with industry and tweaks to commercial software. So we tolerate it.

This by far has been the easiest site to navigate on. Other changes Dennis made caused me some stress. But he has a good site and as others have said. This may have more than I need to know every day But if I have a concern about something a search of the data base makes member ship a very cheap tool vs a trucking bill or service call from dealer if I can resolve it myself.

I also use tractornet for my old M stuff and old tractor shows a lot of history there. Nothing quite like fooling with the old tractors. Wish I could afford a couple of old JD's. But I started out on Farmall's so I'm happy with the Red.

I would bet somewhere tractor net will have to charge for their service. As others have mentioned these sites are not cheap to operate and the time involved is tremendous. Some one has to support them.

Just returned from the fireman's banquet. A few cocktails and a good dinner with old friends, it does not get much better.

I have been straightening out the messes here for almost eleven years. If I move again, it will be into a dwelling built to my specs or a condo in Vegas. I'm with you Eric, too much heartache and $$ to do this again. I will reach the point I imagine whereby I will not be able to take care of this property, but my youngest is interested in it so we shall see.

Thick fog coming off the lake tonight, supposed to clear Sunday. Have to roll the lawn and do some trim mowing so I hope the man is correct in his prediction of sun. Only two more trees to take down in the yard from the ice damage, glad I bought that Stihl 260 last winter, has not missed a beat.

Be sure to check that the brakes aren't dragging. If you put the range lever in neutral, the tractor should roll freely by hand. Be sure to try this on a level area.

First, I would check as the 4300 became the 4310 in 2002, Second does it qualify for the low rate financing now available? Also depends what part of the country you are in. Some areas sell cheaper than others. It doesn't sound like a bad deal, but I wouldn't be at the dealers door Monday morning cash in hand without doing some more homework.

yes I seem to have fixed the problem. I have been cutting (very green) grass at about 10inches deep, taking off the first 6 inches - on steep hillsides, thanks for the hydro drive - for a couple of hours with no overheating problems.
The rad cap must have been the problem.

What I would like to know now is who are the people who did the mods to the engine - big rad, air scoops etc., & where can I get in touch with them
In NZ the local dealers can find no mods at all on these tractors. I have heard of several other owners here with the same problem.
