I don't believe that this is the way it should be designed. None of the four tractor that I have owned would allow the tractor to move to neutral that easily on the high/low. If anything you had to fight with them. I have never owned a Kubota, maybe Art White or someone else can address this problem.

On the west coast a french drain around the parimeter of the basement was manditory. With hundreds of inches of rain you don't need to be a genius to know why.
Cutter what is the American drain? Is that what you had prior to fixing it? It seems to be the style I have seen in the states. In New England we moved into a new townhouse. They had set the duplex over a spring. Everything in the basement was set on pallets to prevent damage. The floor had a 1/4 inch of calk on it as the water in the basement had caused the float on the floor to be excessive. They had jack hammered up the floor and placed a parimeter drain around the interior wall. The sump ran nearly continuously.
I have a lot of clay here so I used a geofabric over the drains to prevent them filling with mud. In addition we placed clean outs to the ground surface at the corners to aid cleaning the drains periodically.
I used the insulated concrete forms for the walls of the basement so there is no sweating of the walls. Naturally we must have air conditioning there so there is little dampness in the summer.
The temperature swing here are so extreme with the humidity from the gulf that after a cold night the humid air can fill the barn, covering the cement floor with water and causing it to rain inside.

Greetings All
I am new to this board. I have used alot of info from here to pick out my first tractor. I found a 2002 JD 4300 with 3 hours on the lot. Package price 24,000 with loaded turfs, fold down rops, 420 fel, JD 47 frame mount backhoe, 6' finish mower. Any feedback would be helpfull.

Grey market...so long as you can identify what it is, the parts probably will be available somewhere if you need them. As John mentioned, we need a little more info on your unit,(tractor that is). Is it 2wd or 4wd? This will make a difference when deciding on tire sizes.<br>

That's a pretty reasonably priced package. The best that I have been able to get was $12.5 in VT, B7500,R4,FEL,HSD.

I prefer the hydro on the JD, probably because I have a JD 345 with the same set up. The effort needed was minimal on both but I didn't care for having my heel on the back of the Kub pedal. Probably a matter of which one you get used to first. I noticed the Kioti has the same setup as the Kub. I still waiting to see what they are like before I decide.

If the tractor has a loader I'd make sure there's clearance for the suitcase weights. Quite awhile ago somebody with a NH tractor found out there wasn't enough clearance. I don't recall which tractor, which loader nor which weights though. Some help huh?

I once had a car that had a similar problem. It turned out to be a broken bell housing that allowed the starter pinion gear to jam the flywheel. With the spark plugs removed, I was able to free the engine by putting a socket on the crankcase damper and rotating the engine backwards. Still had to pull the engine to repair the bell housing though.<br>

You might check for similar things and be aware that many diesel tractors have a hydraulic pump and injector pump in addition to the cam shaft that are driven off the crank from gears under the timing gear cover at the front. I'd check to see if there's obvious damage to the timing gear cover. If it were a gear tractor, I might check to see if it rolls easily when the TX is in neutral. I'd also disconnect anything from the PTO shafts and see if the shafts rotate freely. However, if they don't rotate the tractor may have pto brakes and then they shouldn't rotate. I'd also inspect the cases for separated joints and cracks. <br>

I guess the tractor was running at the time and maybe the mower wasn't in use. My wife hit a rock with a 5hp BS rotary push mower last summer. It now does what you describe and it almost certainly is a bent crank. We have two junker 5-hp BS mowers and I guess I'll have to try to get one working from the two of them. However, a tractor and a push mover are entirely different things, and it doesn't seem too likely to me that simply rolling a tractor would bend a crank.

Harvey: Apologies for the length of this but I just got to thinking--always a problem for me. There are stories around about inadequate heat-treating of some JD hoe cylinder rods. I can't recall which cylinders, models or years. I can't recall for sure but some people have had cylinders replaced for that reason.

I don't know if your cruise through the archives here and maybe elsewhere found discussions about heat-treating but maybe your Dealer could check if there were problems reported for your particular batch of rods. Anyway, the rod itself would a convenient explanation and I'd want to eliminate that possibility before doing anything else.

I can't visualize the welded block but I guess the question is whether the block, bucket or the internal cylinder stops take the load at full stroke. Guess I'm having vision problems this morning but the way I'm thinking is that load creates pressure and it shouldn't make a lot of difference to the rod where in the stroke high pressure occurs. Vectors may change as the dipper rotates but I can't imagine that hitting any designed stop should make much difference to loading on the rod--or at least the rod should be engineered for it. I would keep in mind that cylinders do have internal stops far as I know so the block may serve some other purpose and I'd be reluctant to remove it without careful thought.

There is one thing though. If something is against a stop then relief valves won't provide protection against load shocks. For example, if the tractor was jacked up on the stabilizers and the dipper was against a stop, then lowering the stabilizers or other weight shift would place the entire weight of the tractor rear on the dipper rod. Sounds like there may be a possible explanation there.

I don't know the JD hoe valve, but many valves have a relief in the inlet section. When used on most tractors there are two relief valves in the inlet line that should provide protection to any circuit where the control valve is open. Either one should be adequate unless the hoe valve is speced for a much lower pressure than the tractor valve. Many valves have circuit reliefs but they generally are intended to provide protection against load shocks when the control valve is closed. I suppose circuit relief pressures could be set at any pressure, but most are set well over system relief pressures. You'd expect a hoe would be designed to accept loads up to circuit relief pressures. So I guess a question is whether the circuit relief was working.

I just checked my 2001 TC45 with a 16LA loader for the fan and shroud problem, and didn't see any damage. I have used my loader for dirt, gravel, and heavy rocks used in landscaping, without any problems. Alot of times the bucket was loaded heavier to one side. I asked my New Holland dealer in Northwest Missouri, and this is the first he had heard of the problems.

how did you mount them to wheel , are they easy to remove and reinstall.and ya I did look into deere's weights and that why I'm interested in what you did on yours.I'm sure it was much cheaper alternative. i also noticed a shovel in your loader, I've buried mine twice leaving in bucket. LOL. forgot i had it in there,learning the hard way I guess.Now i strap it to what ever tool i have on the back.

I may be confusing the issue here guys...my apologies. If memory serves me right, a B21 is the newer version of the B20TLB. That being said, I know of a reasonably good shape B20TLB for about $14.5k.

I have been tilling with my B5200,(gear),commercially since 1987. The Rototiller is a BEFCO, manufactured right in No. Carolina. The company is very easy to deal with, and very accomodating. I am able to purchase pieces/parts from most all tractor dealers without difficulty. Actually, in all the years that I have been tilling commercially, I needed to change about 15 tines - nothing else. <br>

My tiller, a BEFCO 158, is adjustable from side to side with a collapsable drive shaft cover complete. Though I have experienced some pretty severe conditions at various sites, the biggest element that you must consider is the weight factor. This element is most always overlooked and/or confused as the weight of the tiller unit alone. YOU MUST REALIZE THE ADDED WEIGHT OF THE SOIL / MUD THAT HAS CAKED ONTO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE TILLER when matching up.<br>

As mentioned, the BEFCO 158 (58inch) works wonderfully on my orange. It has a slip clutch as well...watch out for tillers with shear pins...though the design is there to shear off before damage to the tractor's driveline occurs, many times, the shear pin shears slightly after damage has taken place.<br>

Almost forgot, The BEFCO is lighter weight to begin with, which in itself allows a larger size capability. Need any info on BEFCO, let me know.<br>

I'm not sure what you consider an off brand machine.<br>
But I looked at NH,JD,and Kubota before my purchase. But the name brand dealers in my area asked list prices or near to it.<br>
I went with a Kioti DK 35 and saved several thousand over a comparable featured big 3 tractor. <br>
I have been a long time John Deere owner (I still have one ).And I have spent many hours on Kubota L-3600 and L-4200 both with reverser and syncro tranny.<br>
I have had my DK for over a year now with 115 hours,and if the name brands are better tractors somewhere you would have to show me where it is Because I dont see it.
