i have a pto gen. made by generac. this is a heavy duty unit, rated at 25Kw. my tractor will only output about 10KW. these units are used a lot by farmers in this area, they swear by them, not at them. there are some things you need to know about these units, mine has a built in frequency meter and voltmeter, so that the throttle can be adjusted properly, if you use one of these be sure to observe voltage and frequency output, low voltage and low frequency can be detrimental to your electronic equipment. if you buy one without the meters, you can get a multimeter that reads volts and freq. from harbor freight for about $30. mine weighs 535lbs without the trailor. the operating manual states it should be bolted down to a slab or to a wide axeled trailor so it does not flip over when load is applied to the generator. i9 did not want to service another motor, and if i upgrade my tractor i can increase my gen. output, you get about 1KW for each 2 pto hp. if you need to know more e-mail me.

I think Wix makes both Napa Gold and kubota filters. I read an article on filter brands and Napa Gold came out on top. I think you can find it, way, way back on Machinery forum?

I'm thinking about bidding on a L-210 kubota. It's a '73 model with a belly mower. Poor to fair condition. I need some info on this tractor and what would be a fair price to bid. Any help is appreciated.

I have a 6', 3pt mower. Mow about 2.5-3 acres in about 1 hour. Could go faster but the deck I have doesn't cut well at higher speeds.

Dilemma anyone else go though this

You may have thought of this already, but clean your battery contacts. I just had a similar problem with my garden tractor. Thought it may be time for a new started. Cleaned the contacts and it is as good as new.

Glad to hear you like your 1070. I bought an 870 last year and love it. I haven't<br>had one bit of trouble with it and have about 80 hours on the tractor. I have the <br>440 loader which I believe is the same loader you would put on your tractor and <br>I believe you can add that for around $3000.00 give or take a few hundred one way or <br>the other. Hope you have as good of luck with your tractor as I have had.

I looked at both of them, and took the L2500 with loader. The hydro is a bit faster on back and forth movement, just push the peddle and with the 2500 you have to change gear. IF your working all day on it every day then it would make a differance, but if you use the loader like i do, ( I have a grounds and landscape service) The saving in time will not make up for the savings in cost and upkeep. The 2500 is bigger and will do more work with the 3 point. The loader is just one part of the tractor, I use 8 other things that hang off the back. Most of the time I have the loader off the tractor anyway so I dont have to haul it around. I also do some farm work with it, (very small, and just for fun) As the others said you will have to make up your own mind, but I hope this helps you out some.<br>Rick Smith<br>http://www.janrix.com/cgls

Depending on dealer, buying from the local makes a world of difference. Picture it, Saturday morning, flat tire, Sunday family bar-b-cue, 5 acres(two weeks unmowed) how much is your 3,000 lb machine worth? Price DOES make a difference but does the dealer know your name? Will they make time? For warranties on machines we sell we drop everything(almost always) and work to get you on the road. Just saying that a good relationship on a 20,000 dollar machine is more important than the 8 hours and $100 spent on gas to pit one dealer against the other. Have faith that your average dealer barely makes a $1,000 against a $15,000 sale. After 5 years my FIRST bid is LOW bid, if you ask for bottom dollar, and act like you'll take it, tell the dealer you've looked around I promise you WILL get what you want. We feed our families on what we sell do I want to lose the sale on the one chance I get? In today's market, one chance is all we get. Do your homework, what you know will protect you. Collect literature,compare all apples to apples(this is important) and be prepared to buy. Decide on the money you can spend, divide it by 30 years, THEN select model, test drive(very important), don't ask for $20,000 machine if you can only afford $15,000. The TC where available the latter part of 98. The TC with a D at the end the deluxe<br>3pt is standard and if not its worth the extra bucks to have it on the tractor.<br>The manuel tranny has no problems and is very similar to the previous tractors <br>the 20 and 30 series . The R4 tires give the benifit of float and the traction in <br>one tire .

I have the 790 John Deere tractor with Front end loader and 5 foot finish mower and 6 foot back blade. Loader is John Deere and other impliments are Land Pride. 790 4WD with turf tires. I paid $15,800 delivered and feel it was a good price for the package. I priced Kubotas L2500 L3010 and B 2710, also New Holland TD 25 and TD 29 and all of the Massey Furgenson series. I looked at and drove a lot of equipmend. I settled on the 790 because of size and price. I was dead set on the Kubote L3010. I have a friend that owns the Dealership for kubotas and gave me a knock your socks off price, I just felt that the 790 was better suited to my needs. I have 6 acre's to mow and a 600 foot drive to take care of. I live in south eastern Mich and we get a fair amount of snow and ice. If you have a drain field as I do you also need to consider the weight of the unit you are going to buy.

The complete name for the powder traditionally used for ballast in tires is calcium chloride, which is why some have heard it called calcium, others chloride.<br>It can only safely be used in tires with tubes. Calcium chloride will corrode rims otherwise. Calcium chloride is not environmentally friendly -- it will sterilize soil if it leaks. It's advantages are lower expense (as long as you don't factor in replacing your rims or the cost of tubes) and weight (a very real advantage, but one you can get around with lower weight liquid ballast and the addition of wheel weights, which have the advantage of being removeable).<br>When most places say they use antifreeze in tires, they really mean methanol. Methanol keeps the water in the tire from freezing, but it doesn't weigh nearly as much as water plus calcium chloride. It's not nearly as toxic as either regular antifreeze or calcium chloride, and it evaporates quickly if spilled. One disadvantage of methanol is that you may not live to use that added weight if you smoke around the methanol before it's mixed with the water...<br>Hope this helps.
