Yes there is a difference between red dyed kerosene and diesel fuel, you are dealing with 3 different products. The EPA has federal regulated the fuels and additives (part 80 of code of federal regulations title 40) reduced the allowable sulfur content level of on highway diesel fuel from and aprox average of .25 percent by weight to a maximum of .05 persent by weight. They also require that on-highway diesel fuel have either a minimum cetane index specification of 40 or meet a maximum aromatic level of 35 persent. <br>The guy that said it all the same product is wrong, a lot of companys sell # 1 stove oil dyed as (kerosene) there is a difference in kerosene and K-1 Kerosene also with the taxes on products and the reporting of taxes.<br>If you look at your options you can either run the on road product and pay the road taxes or run the dyed product(which has more sulfur more lubricity good thing) I run the dyed off road diesel, I would not run kerosene or # 1 stove oil unless its realy cold then it would only be a 50-50 mix which would take the cold filter plug point down to about -40 below that i am not running my tractor.<br>Hope this helps tracy

Paul is correct. The system should be covered over and graded with a machine with treads. The load in pounds per square inch is very low with this type of machine. Lacking a machine with treads some contractors will install one trench and cover at a time, working from one side, never driving over installed trenches. Those are the correct ways, I am sure some don't pay any care and just drive over it. I have also seen brand new systems fail in a year or two. Some people will swear you never have to pump the tank. Both those that drive on a field and those that never pump the tank are just asking for trouble in my opinion.

I think that very same comment is in the manual for my 1981 750, for the 4wd version of it anyway. I believe the reason it is in their is to not give the operator a false sense of security. In other words, I think JD is saying just because you have 4wd and can climb a much steeper grade than a 2wd tractor doesn't mean that you should!! Oh yeah, don't ever think a bush hog will keep you from going over backwards!! Most are made to float a good bit anyway, and the lift design (ones without downpressure) may be such that the lift arms can be pushed up with enough force (as in a backwards rollover).

Chuck,<br>I do not know where you are located, but I did my searching around Madison and Dodgeville. Best price on a 4300 similarly equiped [belly mower instead of the Bush Hog, MFWD and no trailer or rear blade ] was Mueller of Dodgeville, Oregon & Janesville at $26,000. PowerTown in Janesville was somewhat higher for a telephone quote, but I did not go in and try to bargin. It also seems that the deal may depend on the time of year and the current rate of business. I ordered in February and was told 8 weeks, the hoe arrived in march, the tractor at the end of april, the belly mower in the beginning of May and the 420 loader two weeks ago. Delivery this last weekend. The dealer said it was unusual for the tractor to arrive before the implements.<br>Doug<br>

Me too! I only have about 5hrs on the new machine. By the end of the day I could feel it in my leg from pushing the pedal. I am wondering if by 200 hours my right leg will be substantially larger than my left. <br>If any one comes up with anything to ease the problem, please post it.<br>Doug<br>

My bushog has two sets of holes in it to bolt the pins that the two lower draft links attach to. One set of holes is for compact tractors, and the other set is for larger tractors. Maybe your subsoiler has these and you could just move the pins to the correct setting? If I remember right, the upper set is for compact and the lower set was for fullsize. Good luck....
