I'm going to go out on a limb and say that any tractor with 18 hp or more will<br>be sufficient. Weight, traction, transmission, convenience, and steering will<br>be the things you should base the decision on. I am on and off the tractor <br>constantly, so I rate this higher than most would.<br> Roger L.

I have a 4wd with turfs and not much weight. In the winter I put on a set of <br>custom made chains and just leave them on till Spring. Traction with the chains<br>is much better than any tire on snow and ice. Since tractors go so slow, chains<br>last well and don't cut into the tires at all. This combination avoids those lug<br>marks in soft soil. You are looking at nice tractors....time to bite the bullet!<br> Roger L<br>

I think that most people are pretty conservative when it comes to a purchase the<br>size of a tractor plus attachments. Kioti doesn't have a track record. It has <br>been several years since I test rode a couple of them and they have probably<br>changed since then. At that time I was disappointed in several things - although<br>these may have nothing to do with the machine's suitability or reliability.<br> Things I liked: the price! The dealer's personality.<br> Things I didn't: engine and gearbox had more mechanical noise than the other<br>brands. The engine response was slow to changes in throttle...More like a constant<br>RPM diesel than the more modern diesels - which respond to the throttle quickly,<br>more like a gasoline engine. The external surfaces of a lot of the engine<br>castings was rough and unfinished. Grinder marks were not smoothed out. <br> Overall, my impression was of a machine built to fit a position in the<br>market based on price. This was accomplished by using older technology and <br>eliminating some of the hand finishing. From the gear noise I suspect that it <br>had straight cut gears as well. Nothing wrong with this, though.<br> None of this is a knock on Kioti. Older technology is at least well worked<br>out, and they do what they do so that they can enter the market. Its not the<br>approach that would get me to buy their tractor, but it is a legitimate <br>approach to business and to manufacturing IMHO. Like you, I haven't heard pro<br>or con about their tractor over the long haul. I wonder if the dealer would be<br>willing to give you the names of some owners? I agree 100%,I take the deck off and on our B2150 a lot,If I have the loader mounted I will use it to raise tractor a little,or if loader is'nt on tractor I'll drive over the deck.Right when front tires are about to go over front edge of the deck,is when I lock the brakes and hook up PTO shaft.Then let the front wheels go on over the deck,hook-up links and it's a done deal.It simply takes practice.I like mid-mount mowers because of more RPM's,.The only advantage I can see in a rear-mount mower;can take from one tractor to the next,period.

MLS, A chevy dealer(MOLES),told me GM has teamed up with IZUZU to make a new 300 hp diesel to put in their junk.The trucks will be torn apart like paper towels if they do this.<br>

It looked like the 'bota 2710 was for me, but it is delayed due to the backhoe frame part not showing up... so I'm still shopping. I just drove a used JD 770 with only 125 hours on it... SST trans/70 loader/#7 hoe. Great shape. Asking $19,500, which seems at least $1,500 high. Any comparable info? I know that the 2710 is nicer tractor: HST trans and nicer user interface, bit more HP (but doesn't HST rop HP?). What to do, what to do?

The L2500 is the old rough around the edges

The L2500 4wd new goes for about $11250 brand new and naked. Check prices at http://www.carverequipment.com/. I also got a Price at Rhinehart Equipment in GA for $10700.
The new L3010 goes for about 13,300 new 4wd with Live PTO, if you got the cash you can't go wrong, or look at the great Boomer TC29 or Deere 4200 - 4300

The lift capacity is what really matters. Things get weird with the stablity of your tractor if you are lifting anything above a third of your tractor's weight if you don't have a counter weight. Think of breakout capacity as your safety factor as your load you are lifting is moving (going up!). Moving loads have a shock effect, the practical expression is that it will make a load seem much heavier (get on an elevator by yourself and jump - the car will move!). The larger the difference between the max load & the breakout, the better the safety factor against bending something on your loader. <br>As far as what was said earlier, the breakout force should be measured from your bucket, where the load is. As as it being from ground level, true. That is where your bucket has the greatest reach from the tractor & pins on its

I've been away a while. You have a backhoe huh? That is the way I'd go for trees of this size. Get a good grab around some roots around the bottom and give'm a good pull. Two or three grabs ought to lift the whole mess out. I've also put a chain up as high as I could reach for leverage and drag the tree out. I do this where I can't get a mower. Rootless is better than any kind of stump, but mowing/sawing is faster. It depends if you want to put up with the stumps until they rot out. As far as regrowth - I mow several times a year. It takes care of them and they usually die by the second season.<br>I guess I'm saying here is that there are several ways, depending on your stituation and what you want to put up with when you are done. <br>Lee

If this a one time job, I'd probably go with the back blade. You will get tons more use with it in the long run and it's cheaper. However, the box is better for this application. <br>Lee

If you are interested in grey market tractors at reasonable prices we have them. E-mail me for a list. We can finance the greys with about 25% down with Case Credit. we do it all the time. If your credit history is good it won't be a problem.<br>

I decided on Mobil's Delvac 1 for use in my tractor after researching the various synthetic and non-synthetic oils available for diesel engines. Mobil's website has a wealth of information about the product, how it compares to conventional motor oil, etc..
