I agree with Kay. Look at the ease at which the bucket can be removed and attached. I have a JD 70A which is easy to remove. Unfortunately I don't like the bucket construction as much as the Bushhog I had on another tractor. Although I had the stand I never removed it as it required some bolts to be removed the JD does not need a stand and can be removed from the seat.

I'm sorry I don't agree with Roger, the seat on my JD 750 was a piece of junk. I looked at the JD replacement which was the same and over priced. For me the seat placed all my weight on the front of my thighs. I got numerous heat rashes in the summer. I purchased a yellow seat from Northern Tool, but had to fabricate a mount from the old seat frame. The yellow was cooler, had better weight distribution and looked great on the tractor. The vinyl on the JD seat was poor. I attributed the rash partly do to poor plasticizers in the vinyl. Believe me I am one of the couple of dozen people in the nation that know coated vinyl fabrics.
The seat on the my JD 955 is much better, ths may be the same as the 950. This seat is on a slide to adjust the length. The 750 is fixed.

Sounds reasonable. I bought a 4100 HST with FEL, 54" mower, grill guard, 4 front end weights, r4 industrial tires, and a 58" Landpride tiller for $16.3K in March. Do you have any other JD dealers in your area. You might be able to work the numbers. As a bonus, in Maryland, if the equipment is to be used for agricultural purposes, you do not have to pay state tax. Check to see if that applies in your area. At 5%, it made the difference in buying the FEL. Good luck.

The rear seal on the MFWD differential is leaking on my 950. Anyone know if I can replace this seal without having to take the whole front end off? It appears I can just drop the drive shaft and remove the rear portion of the differential assembly. My service manual does not give good information on this. Looking at the parts manual showing an exploded view makes it appear it is possible.

The Connectors that are easy to connect under pressure are called flat face couplers. You are right they are very expensive about 40.00 for male side and 60.00 for female side. They would eliminate your pressure problems

I had a similar situation with a ford lgt-145. I thought my clutch needed replaced, but found that it was not the clutch but my deck not wanting to turn easily. I found bunches of the baler twine wrapped up tightly in the spindles causing excessive friction. Apparently the clutch sensed the overload and would open the circuit. Long story short, it was an easy fix once I got my deck cleaned up. It's a longshot but worth a look. Best of luck.

I've been having power steering failure since the tractor had 50 hours. Now it has 208 hours.As instructed by Kubota I took my 2710 to the dealer on Tuesday morning. A Kubota technician was there to "(a)make the tractor fail and (b) fix it". Unfortunately he didn't stay long enough to do (a) so he never got to (b). I had stressed to the Kubota service manager for the central region that it takes a long time for the problem to come up - usually a couple of hours at least. The guy mowed 2 hours and quit without experiencing the problem. They also put some kind of device on the hydraulic system that makes it simulate various conditions and it didn't fail there either.The final word was that "As far as Kubota is concerned we and the dealer have made a reasonable effort and shown that the tractor is operating as it should". I was told that in order for them to consider anything I would have to make it fail.Guys I'm pissed. You go to the trouble of getting an actual human from Kubota to talk to you and another one to actually look at the tractor and you trailer the thing and take it 30 miles to the dealer you would think they would test the thing until it fails. Why would I go to all that trouble if there isn't a problem? Kubota was interested in making an appearance of being willing to address the problem, but they aren't willing to take the time that it takes to duplicate the problem.He also said that in all the time I have owned the tractor the dealer was never able to duplicate the problem. Somebody lied, because my dealer did duplicate the problem back in '99 (or at least told me they did), changed the fluids at 58 hours that I had just got through changing at 50 hours, and then continued to experience the problem. I needed the tractor back for the weekend and they promised to come pick it up the following Monday which they never did. In the meantime it never was that hot again that summer and I didn't have the serious problems I had before.I called the owner of the dealership and he understood my pain, but there's not a lot they can do without Kubota's help. The dealer does not have much control over design flaws that they can't fix. He says he will come to my place personally if I am experiencing the problem, as long as its during business hours .Of all the 2710 and 2910 owners on this board that have had the problem I don't recall a single one getting the problem fixed. One of you got some kind of retrofit of an additional flluid line and filter like the 2910, but if understand it correctly, that didn't fix the problem, and the 2910s have the same problem also.It appears that the problem is rare, but to those of us who have the problem and can't get it fixed it is very disappointing and frustrating.It is a wonderful tractor otherwise, but I'm now have a really bad taste in my mouth about Kubota's handling of the problem. Because they weren't willing to expend the time needed to duplicate the problem I have continue on my own, with binding steering at 4:00 on Sunday afternoon when there is nobody to call.Those of you with Kubota tractors that are having this problem would you please email me at gtalumnus@earthlink.net. I am thinking seriously about a class action lawsuit. I think everyone with a 2710 should be given a new M9000 and 200 shares of Kubota stock.I am seriously fond of this tractor but I'm gonna give it this summer when its real hot. Actually, ROb, Tom, you're both right about the 'burn time' duration of a diesel, which is exactly why a diesel MUST be governed at the fuel pump. If a diesel rev's too fast the engine will 'run away', in other words, the incoming fuel will be spontaneously ignited by the outgoing (still burning) mixture causing the engine to speed up even more. The engine would race out of control until it flew apart. NOT a good thing. As for Newton / Metres, that like any other Metric (or more properly SI, Systeme Internationale) equation is all based on 10's, so the math is ridiculously easy, but it still makes your brain hurt. I looked at the Kubota L3010 and how the front end loader was designed. It is supported across the top, across the front of the tractor and it is supported all the way back to the rear axle. I have only looked at the TC33 so far. It is only supported by 4 bolts on each side of the lower block. Please correct me if I am wrong but it seems that the Kubota is going to out perform and last the NH hands down. I still like the NH brand but I am really concerned about the design. Is the NH TC35 designed the same way?

Dave - About 6 months ago a bought a B7500 HSD with loaded R4 tires, 302 loader, 60" belly mower and 12" auger for $9900, $2600, $2000, and $700 respectively. I shopped around a good bit and this was the best deal I could find here in Virginia. The others were between $500 and $1500 more. As far as the deck goes, I leave it on for just about everything. I've taken it off twice so far, and while I wouldn't want to do it every afternoon, it's not so bad. I've had no trouble with the R4's on my lawn or in my field. The only time they leave any real marks is when the ground is very wet. I also find that if I turn on a slope (a slight slope) or turn in 4WD they might tear up the grass a bit. In any case, the marks are usually gone in 24 hours. For me, the R4's are definately worth it when I'm using the loade in the wet Virginia clay. Good luck.

I think the confusion is due to (as someone mentioned) different names being used on the same thing in different areas. The ground in this area varies wildly due to the varying effects of the glaciers during the ice age. However, in the area we farm the topsoil is underlaid with a clay belt that ranges from 4" - 6" thick. The implement we use for this purpose is locally called a 'cultivator', it is NOT the same thing I discovered as what a lot of other areas call a Yeoman's plow or cultivator, which has broad arrow-shaped heads which run flat just under the surface between crop rows to control unwanted growth. What we use is more like a series of 'middle busters', they are VERY narrow and deep, with a very hard (usually carbide) lead edge and replaceable tip. Because of them being narrow, with little ground resistance, they slit the ground like a knife, causing a very small amount of soil (ours is very sandy) to penetrate the clay which forms a passage way for moisture to escape into the subsoil through the clay belt. Another benefit of their slim profile is that you can reach a long way down (usually 18") with several cutters while not requiring massive amounts of power to pull them. Best of luck.

I've played with both ways on my 790 and I think it has to do with the surface you're on. If it's already pretty flat then the locked position will work well. If it's pretty uneven the box will follow the tractors contorsions and may dig in/gouge the surface excessively. In those conditions I've had good luck with the float position. I also replace the cotter pins with hitch pins to make the changeover easier. Hope this helps, Rob.

I sort of figured the folding ROPS was important. One of the guys I mentioned was really going wild trying to get his up and down. I think he gave up trying. I don't know if it was the design or his tractor in particular. Myself, I bought my tractor (no folding ROPS) and then realized it wouldn't fit in the garage--probably wouldn't have made any difference anyway. A 14' x 25' arctic shelter tent was a quick solution. Three summers later and it's still a quick solution, but I guess I do have to build an equipment shed. Sometime!

Got my new M-F 231S with FEL 6'Rhino cutter,6" box blade and 18' tilt bed trailer today. Unloaded it and ten minutes later it was buried in a soft spot that I did not realize was still wet. Eight hours later it was out and I was give out. I see now owning a tractor is going to be loads of fun. At least I can sit and look at it and say "it's mine" Dwitt P

I bought a MF 1250 in Sept. 1999. The warranty covered everything as far as I know except tires. The tires were covered by Firestone.

I used to muscle my PS. The steering column was loose, and the steering became easier after the column was tightened. Before the repair, I got in the habit of lifting the front end with the loader bucket to straighten out the wheels rather than muscling the steering. It's still a handy technique when I manage to do things like get crossways in a shallow excavation. Happy to hear the dealer is sorting out the problem.
